The location and the beach are very good, but sometimes full of boats with snorkel excursions.
That is the only reason I understand people going to this hotel, But be aware that there’s others hotels, just next door and you can still enjoy this beach. You don’t need to actually stay on the Perhentian Island Resort.

Disliked .
Overpriced for sure.
Everything was very old and dirty.
As we enter our first room the smell was awful, both room and bathroom smelled very bad; The room was very very dirty with poo from small animals everywhere, some small cockroaches on the bed, the walls full of blood and stains from dead animals; bed side tables cover with dust and sand; the glass doors to the balcony completely dirty with grease from a lot of hands. Outside, on the balcony a massive poo from a big animal, maybe from a monkey.

We ask for another room immediately, but the reception told us that was impossible because they were fully booked; so we ask for a deep cleaning;
When we arrive at night after dinner, around 11pm the room was cleaner, but as we enter the room we found a big gecko inside, that ran away hidden underneath the bed; we tried to find the animal and when we moved the bedside table, was even worst because we found more dirt and more gecko poo.
In we were perplexed with all the situation, but we couldn’t fell comfortable with all of that; so we went to the reception again trying to find a solution for that night or the next day;
The receptionist, was an man, a very comprehensive gentleman that didn’t try to find excuses for that unacceptable situation and found us a solution. He found us a room, and we move straight away.

The breakfast was awful.... What to say?
Not much option for food, very low quality, the service is a mess, very unorganized;
On our last day the food almost ran out.
During this pandemic situation no buffet was allowed, but they had a bread and pastry station where everyone gather to toast the bread, and almost everyone took the bread with the hands - not very higienic at all.

This hotel need a major renovation in every sense.

Perhentian island resort didn’t let us down, there were mixed reviews so thought it may be average but all changes from the time we arrived.

We were group of 40 pax and hence lot of coordination was needed. Thanks to Mr.llham Faisal who managed our booking and arrangements, he was awesome. Especially during booking have asked him various questions and he replied and provided us all needed clarification. He even recommended us options so we can plan better. Thank you for that

Since we are group, they had boats arranged as per our arrival and person In Jetty point took care of us and helped us to reach the resort. Check in was smooth and reception handling was also good.

We have got rooms allotted in sea view and garden view(still have sea view) and were perfect. Sea rooms had extra space and looked big. Garden view rooms are bit small and compact, bedding provided in garden view was so small so if you have extra person then definitely extra mattress is needed.

Resort had a beautiful beach and clean beach with nice lay back set up. They have arranged 2 snorkeling trips in our package and it was good. They have dive center which we didn’t explore.

Buffet was above average , it’s not about the taste it is time we need to wait for getting the food from counter. Always it would have been queued up or counter is empty, definently could see understaff since all the staff were in kitchen busy in refilling and no one in resturant. Egg counter in breakfast is nightmare , expect most of them will order eggs there should be multiple counter or single counter with multiple pans - but it was only one pan and person making it doesn’t have time to smile or acknowledge. This should need definite improvement.

Having said that barbecue diner was very good , but we need time to wait and get the barbecue due to high demand. Definitely not to be missed.

On faculties, resort was good and there are people to take care or fix if issues reported. One of our room had Aircon cut at night 11 pm and people came to fix it with in minutes . Housekeeping was done all three days and it was nice to see the cleaned room. Complimentary water is provided in room and water can be refilled in restaurant all day . Resort had pretty good mobile signal as well with 4g.

We all enjoyed our stay of 3 nights and 4 days in the resort. Definitely recommend for the price and facility.

If below can be considered it will be 5 star

1. Adequate Staff in restaurants
2. Few furnitures looks old which can be replaced.

Overall it was a pleasurable stay and experience. The reception was good and pleasant at arrival, and the management of our land and sea travel was handled by them well too.

The condition of the chalets were a bit dated (as pointed out by some other patrons previously) but not a seal breaker and the rooms were clean and comfortable with daily cleaning - with a beautiful, white sandy beach nearby, you're not going to spend much time in the room anyway. The bathroom is clean but has an unusual smell - TIP: bring a spray freshener if you cannot handle that.

The breakfast has a good spread of local food, salads, cereals, and bread; also an "egg station". Food at the restaurant is OK; for the few days we were there, we ended up eating at other hotels' restaurants for variety. TIPS: bring a Flashlight for walking in the night. PIR doesn't serve alcohol. But some of the other hotels do so you can walk there if you need some.

IMHO, the BIGGEST plus points with PIR are:
1. The private beach access (with corals just off the beach)
2. The price (considering the private beach access)

Our room is just right in front of the white sandy beach! With the closed proximity, we could spent time morning or evening or night enjoying the nature and let the sound of the waves accompany good night sleep. There are many squirrels and monkeys around the area wondering and looking for food... and they meant no harm. For our 3 days 2 nite stay, we pre-booked and paid upfront for full meal plan throughout the stay then we realized there were restaurants within walking distance. One more good point to make is the transport between mainland to the Island was well managed by the hotel

We stayed 3 nights in PIR. Relatively expensive, but that is true for almost all accommodations on the Island. Cabins ar OK, nothing special but clean and having all necessities. Park is nice. The beach is superb, snorkel and diving possibilities available against very good prices. No need to arrange tours elsewhere. Staf at reception was nice and friendly. However, somethings went wrong as we had to move to another cabine because of a broken aircon. This was not in the system and yes, then your room is not cleaned and this needs to be asked 3 times. Ok no worries. What is really bad is the restaurant. No alcohol, a pity but it is as it is, but the food is extremely bad and expensive. The breakfast is super simple, a fried noodle without any taste or a scrambled egg witch can be used to seal a hole in your wall. A cola is Rm7, 400m further half of this! The neighbors restaurant is way better with much larger dishes, at least 10x better tastes and against lower prices. Also a pity that the beautiful terrace does not have a bar. If you promote yourself as a top resort the create certain expectations which were not fullfilled. We will not come back again in this overpriced two star resort with zero star kitchen.

Outdated, dirty and poorly managed and maintained.

The service is not attentive to details such to check for enough toilet paper or soap to wash (so expect to go ask for these daily).

Food is terrible to say the least and the pool is unusable (the water was yellowish and clearly stale!)

Hygiene standards are very low, even during the morning buffet you can enjoy seeing staff cleaning their nose with hands just before handling your food …

It seemed they are doing a major renovation work on the resort … so before going make sure to get a renovated room if you dare :)

The beach is however just perfect for families with small kids. Shallow water, plenty of marine life and loads of sand to play safely!

Check in was seamless despite a crowded reception. The receptionist was very detailed and thorough in the explanation of the resort, very helpful!

Rooms and toilet were sizeable and most importantly, clean and comfortable. Toilet could smell a little though. I like that they had a nice patio for us to sit, as well as ample space to hang wet clothes or swimsuits.

My complaint would be the breakfast, which wasn’t great. Egg station is incredibly slow with no sense of urgency, queues can get very long. Quality of food was not great, coffee was watery.

The Perhentian Island Resort beach is beautiful, with fine white sand. Midday gets crowded with snorkelling operators bringing hordes of tourists to the area, but early mornings and late evenings are great. I would say this is the only good beach left in the Perhentian Islands, unfortunately.

I've lived in SE Asia for over 25 years, and at very remote locations helped to launch new sea turtle hatchlings as well as seen a female come in and lay eggs. But I never dreamed that I could stay in a bungalow at the beach, swim 200m from the water's edge and be swimming with 3 massive sea turtles. I don't know how they keep these turtles from being scared of people, but they daily showed up just off shore from the resort. My only complaint would be that the food service at the restaurant could be better--especially if they used higher quality cooking oil. But even in food service I was impressed that one of the breakfast cereal offers was good quality granola. We will be back to the Perhentian Beach Resort.

We stayed for 4 nights. Had a good time on the beach and swimming with the turtles (not as nice as Redang) . The rooms were very basic,but the door didn’t fully shut/ seal and bugs would wander in. We found a massive spider in the bathroom that freaked my wife out. The beds were stiff as a board. Our main gripe was the food. I love Asian food, but this was poorly done. Rice always seemed like it was from the day before. Ironically, someone from the kitchen was eating a nice looking meal and I asked what it was called. She said it isn’t on the menu! ;]. Also, they have a pier that everyone loves jumping 0ff, but they told us on day 2 that it was too dangerous even though the pier Is operated by the state. These complaints might be due to the mco and might improve.

Like a farytale beach. It's pure magic to be there. With clear water so you can see both small sharks, stingrays, turtles and more. 10 stars for the beach and the surondings. All staff are very freindly but the cleaning of the room is poor during our stay and the food was no more then a 3 out of 5.
