Perhentian Tuna Bay Island Resort is located on the south west coast of Pulau Perhentian Besar (Big Island), a quiet, untouched part of the island surrounded by tropical jungle, on a broad expanse of powdery white sand. The resort commands a breathtaking view of Pulau Perhentian Kecil (Small Island) and the South China Sea, right on your doorstep. All chalets are just a minute's walk from the beach and are tastefully built with wooden furnish.

I was so happy to have chosen this resort. Rooms are basic but functional. No facilities like fridge, tea or coffee but hairdryer and iron available on request. Location is excellent with fantastic little house reef for snorkelling. Staff friendly and helpful. Menu varied although service almost a little too quick at times. Small shop for essentials and excellent padi dive school. Boat trips and taxis to other resorts, beaches and islands and therefore restaurants easy and affordable. Great dive and snorkel sites very close by. I’m not one for return visits but might make an exception for this place. Pack light and leave the shoes at home. Super chilled!

This review is solely to highlight how vital it is that you stop offering plastic straws to customers. It is 2020 and most of Malaysia has banned plastic straws; it's time for you to follow suit. The island is absolutely beautiful and the marine life is stunning, but you are jeopardising that by encouraging your guests to use plastic straws. I suggest you don't offer straws at all or instead you invest in metal/bamboo straws for customers. Thank you to the staff who respected my wish to decline a straw. The Chinese waiter with the face mask was very rude about this however. Please Tuna Bay, rethink your policy of offering plastic straws. It is such a small step for you to take but will have a positive impact on the environment.

Positives and negatives for tuna bay. Staff are all friendly and good at their jobs, it gets really busy in the evening but service is still quick and attentive. Food is good, lots of choice on the menu and you wouldn't get bored eating here. You can fill up your water bottles here instead of buying plastic bottles. Negatives-They need to be more clear on the menu about vegetarian dishes, I ordered veggie fried rice,It came with chicken+prawns. But the biggest negative, and I can't believe this is still happening in 2020, they use plastic straws with everything. It's not acceptable especially on an island where the marine life is so abundant and the main attraction. Asked the manager twice about It, he just laughed it off. Plastic straws -1 star

The island is really nice. Resort location is good. Beautiful beach with great sunset. We enjoyed The food, and also nice local family restaurant nearby. I would say that resort is little bit pricey, but there isnt that much competition, so prices are what they are. We had beachwiev chalet, but firts two nights we had room number 4a. And that didn't meet our expectations. Big trees surrounding The room, so really dark and no seawiev. Also local monkeys use the terrace as their toilet. I would not recommend to stay at rooms 4a and 5a. Not worth 100 euros per night. Although the resort staff was really nice and moowed us to room 1a, which was really nice. Thanks alot for that! Our experience is that this resort is best place to stay at Perhentian.

Resort is OK, but restaurant is horrible. Mostly all the food is not fresh, and not tasty. Price is crazy expensive for Asia. And the last point which is the most important to me : Waiters are awful. 0 tact. When you ask a question about the food they don't reply, they show disrespect, they are not helpful, they talk in their language between each other, in the Middle of a conversation with you, etc... If course there's 2 or 3 exceptions, but most of th3n are AWFUL. So my advise to travelers is : come at tuna bay, but avoid the restaurant. You have a couple of other choices around.

Pros - reef off the resort was full of life - rays, groupers, angel fish, octopus, parrot fish, puffer fish (we think), needle fish. Snorkelling trip also awesome - black tip reef sharks, turtles. Cons - resort was in close down mode -they were literally dismantling it around us, which was a shame. They close Nov-Feb inclusive. To the extent that they packed away the life jackets and life rafts off the ferry the day before they took us back to Kuala Besut... Airport transfer driver was awful - driving erratically and aggressively and made the kids feel car sick. Overall I felt that Tuna Bay were more interested in our money than in us. A general point - ecological awareness doesn’t seem to have arrived at the Perhentian Islands - we saw a lot of plastic rubbish on the

We have stayed at this hotel for 12 days. The room facilities at this hotel are poor and the room price is a bit high for what you expect in Asia. The staff is prety friendly and helpful. Do not expect to have internet acces in your room or on beach area. The only acces to internet is in restaurant area, but prety poor. The restaurant prices are prety high, but comparable with other resorts on the island.

Helpful wait staff and good meals. The best by far at the end of the season. Good views as well. Only place with a decent coffee and you can fill up your water. We had pretty ordinary food on Besar until we went to Tuna Bay.

On arrival to the wharf you have to pay a reef fee? I can't remember the cost but it goes towards the conservation of the area, as we motored out of the river to the see the piles of waste made me think the fee wasn't going where it should, the mainland beaches here hold a lot of waste, empty plastic bottles, bags, shoes you name it, sometimes on the tideline in piles a metre high and for hundreds of metres long, not so on the islands though. Maybe some of our "greenies" should go clean up Malaysian shorelines? We paid around $180AU per night for our room, if I compare that with resorts at home (AU) its expensive. The room was pretty tired, yeah it was clean and tidy all well kept but pretty old and cheaply done at the start. That doesn't mean we didn't enjoy the stay, the
