I know it’s COVID and we need to support local businesses, but we feel CHEATED and SCAMMED - do not book here, try another hotel on the island. I’m more annoyed because I emailed the owner and staff yesterday warning them that I’ll write a bad review (to give them another chance) and they didn’t even reply! -We paid for the highest tier room - First issue is there are no telephones in room, so if you have a question or complaint, you have to walk 10 mins to the front office and back to the room - They let us check in but the room didn’t seem ready - the sink was blocked and full of dirty water (gross), safe was still locked (unsafe), outside deck chairs were not clean with rotting fruit, monkey poop and leaves stuck on them, and let me tell you the only good thing about this…
I was so happy to have chosen this resort. Rooms are basic but functional. No facilities like fridge, tea or coffee but hairdryer and iron available on request. Location is excellent with fantastic little house reef for snorkelling. Staff friendly and helpful. Menu varied although service almost a little too quick at times. Small shop for essentials and excellent padi dive school. Boat trips and taxis to other resorts, beaches and islands and therefore restaurants easy and affordable. Great dive and snorkel sites very close by. I’m not one for return visits but might make an exception for this place. Pack light and leave the shoes at home. Super chilled!
Stay at tunabay resorts with my family for a few days and we totally enjoyed here. Nice staff, nice room, nice food and nice beach, staff are so friendly and we were welcomed since we arrived in mainland office to the paradise island.Kids love here so much and we definetely will come back for sure.Highly recommend to others.
This review is solely to highlight how vital it is that you stop offering plastic straws to customers. It is 2020 and most of Malaysia has banned plastic straws; it's time for you to follow suit. The island is absolutely beautiful and the marine life is stunning, but you are jeopardising that by encouraging your guests to use plastic straws. I suggest you don't offer straws at all or instead you invest in metal/bamboo straws for customers. Thank you to the staff who respected my wish to decline a straw. The Chinese waiter with the face mask was very rude about this however. Please Tuna Bay, rethink your policy of offering plastic straws. It is such a small step for you to take but will have a positive impact on the environment.
Positives and negatives for tuna bay. Staff are all friendly and good at their jobs, it gets really busy in the evening but service is still quick and attentive. Food is good, lots of choice on the menu and you wouldn't get bored eating here. You can fill up your water bottles here instead of buying plastic bottles. Negatives-They need to be more clear on the menu about vegetarian dishes, I ordered veggie fried rice,It came with chicken+prawns. But the biggest negative, and I can't believe this is still happening in 2020, they use plastic straws with everything. It's not acceptable especially on an island where the marine life is so abundant and the main attraction. Asked the manager twice about It, he just laughed it off. Plastic straws -1 star
