As we arrived to this hotel, Azhar welcome us and had a good chit chat with us. He advise us in many things and concern about our safety as well. This is what made us safe to stay here and we always consult him before we plan any activities. I hope he stay here till our next visit.

This hotel is one of few on the island and somewhat below expectations. The rooms were large but that was about all they had going for them as they were very outdate and ordinary. The bathroom was extremely basic and not as we would have expected at a resort. The hotel needs to reinvest some money in its infrastructure if they wish to keep their customers happy. The island is absolutely beautiful with crystal clear waters and some of the softest sand I have ever experienced

Family weekend trip together with a birthday celebration at Perhentian Island. It is a reasonable resort which needed refurbishment but I consider them very good for the price and reasonable triple room. Here is my review on Arwana Perhentian - Resort Environment: The resort is located at Teluk Dalam at Perhentian Besar Island where the beach is less attractive but much more quiet and calm. The resort prohibited alcohol but beer can easily purchase from Jim Bar or the Dive center. Jim bar is just a short walk to the center of the beach where there are meal serve as well for those looking for alternatives beside Arwana. There is a dive center namely Leisure Divers which is just right in front of the resort. Another benefit of the resort is the swimming pool in the middle of the resort which is nice to have a swim together with kids which still not expose to snorkeling. Service & Staff: The staff just lack of friendly gesture toward tourist but I really give thumb up for the arrangement they make for an adhoc cake to celebrate birthday with my family. Room service is reasonable. Room comfort: Room look OK for my standard expectation atleast my family which is quite picky and choosy still feel the room at Arwana better and acceptable.

The resort located in Pulau Perhentian Besar. They are offering a very good room rate. I stayed in Seaview Villa on the upper floor. Nice view, just a few steps to the beach. The room was comfortable and clean. You can feel the privacy staying here because of their location, not surrounded by other resorts. Their large swimming pool was the best. The water comes from the natural source on top of the hill behind the resort. I was told that they are doing a major upgrading and renovation during this monsoon season. They will continue to operate early next year with a new look, new feel with lots of facilities. Can't wait to be there again next year... Run away from hectic city life.

The reception and restaurant areas of this hotel are fairly new and are okay. We had a smooth check-in with a pleasant young man on reception and were given welcome drinks. Our room was basic, dated, unclean and just not up to a good or even average standard. There’s a gap under the door that lets in loads of insects and noise from the whole hotel. The bathroom was terrible. The shower head was vile and didn’t even sit in the holder properly. The water pressure was also terrible. Coffee is given in the room but not kettle or cups. You have to fill up a flask from a dispenser in the lobby and pay for cups. Ridiculous! The swimming pool is not very appealing. There is so much floating in it, I’m not sure they have a filter system other than someone with net. And there’s definitely not any chlorine in there! Loads of flies landing on food at breakfast which is so unhygienic! They need to put lids on the food! Sort out the pool and update the rooms and this place could be nice, but as it stands it’s poor!

Best thing about this hotel is boat will send you right in front of the lobby. Problem with this hotel is that its check in time is not synchronize with boat time. We have to wait 1 hour before we can check in as the boat schedule is early. We also need to wait 1 hour for the boat after check out as the boat schedule is 1 hour late from check out time. Room is good. Pool is good. My kids enjoyed the swimming pool. Food not too bad but i think they can do a better job. Location wise is great.

How on earth this is rated as best hotel on trip advisor is completely baffling. If you like a lot of noise, flies all over your food, filth, smelly areas and the most lovely staff who just smile and when you complain ( hoping you will go away) the worst soundproofed ceilings ever ( knew exactly what time my neighbours above got up and went to bed, and there toilet habits in the middle of the night ) then this is the perfect place for you. This side of the Island is dirty , has really heavy boat traffic and even has a camp site ( with pre erected tents) with very limited facilities. We were very, very disappointed as everyone had said these Islands were the best. My advice- Go to Tioman.

I booked my room through the leisure dive center(which is cheaper than book directly from hotel) with diving package. The resort comes with a swimming pool which allow the diving class students to learn skill there. The diving center is good, they have all the equipment you needed which already included in the package. Also, the beach water is very clean and clear but the sand is not that soft compared to Lang Tengah or Redang. On the other hand, the room condition is not that great because the hot shower water flow is too slow and the temperature keep changing. Anyway, this is a cheaper choice for those who want to take the diving course.

Resort is a bit of a misnomer. This is a great place, but you need to know that it is more glorified camping. We really wanted an ocean view and were fortunate to get a bungalow right on the beach toward the end of the row of bungalows (otherwise there is a hotel complex around a large pool, not what we wanted to see or hear). The rooms are spartan, but clean. The AC is good and very necessary (we were there in August). There are nice outside verandas - good for early morning and after a swim when you are feeling cooled-down. We had read from other reviews that the staff did not come to clean the room, and that was so with us too, though as I left I saw someone’s door with a door hanger asking for maid service - oops, maybe that was the other side of the do not disturb card in the room that I didn’t turn over... The ocean beach out front is a bit rocky, but good for cooling down - the water feels wonderful! The pool is great, though you’ll be sharing it with people doing scuba training - not a problem because the pool is huge. We usually didn’t opt for the pricey breakfast buffet, though did so once and enjoyed it. Instead, for most meals we’d wander down the beach just a bit and eat at another restaurant that was less expensive. We enjoyed the jungle trek (starts just at the end of Arwana - do it in the morning before too hot) and seeing the “other side” of the island. Look for the large Monitor Lizards that are in the stream at the beginning of the hike! They were impressively prehistoric looking. We also used the attached dive shop - Leisure Divers - for a Discovery Dive. They were wonderfully patient and thorough - getting us up to speed and then taking us on a great first dive. We saw a wide variety of fish and some lovely coral. We are now hooked on diving, and would like to return to see more of the many dive sites that you can access around the island.
