Fantastic retreat from the hustle and bustle. Amazing staff and a very comfortable eco resort. Food is amazing (full vegetarian options) and the dive centre staff are accommodating and professional. The gear is in top notch condition. Highly recommended for divers of any level, or for just a relaxing off the grid beach holiday
I took my 3 kids (ages 17,14&12)for a short trip ( wish it had been longer!) - truly amazing!! It had all the amenities necessary and was clean. The staff were so nice and treated everybody like family. Food was phenomenal, even my kids ate everything. They make almost everything fresh and on site! My kids had a blast. The property and beach is so well maintained- staff and volunteers clean the beach everyday. Very eco- friendly. And their on site turtle conservation program is truly spectacular. The volunteers that run it are young, energetic, well educated and enthusiastic to help turtles. We were lucky to see not only release of hatchlings into the sea, but even a mother turtle on the beach ( they wake you up if you are interested to see all this ) - definitely worth the sleep disruption! My kids were so amazed!! Don’t you to go far for snorkeling, their off beach snorkeling is breathtaking. We did still do a snorkeling trip and were not disappointed! Even saw turtles eating sea grass at the bottom of the ocean. Everything was organized by the resort and they were super helpful and nice. I can’t wait to go back when we return to Malaysia in 2 years. I hope they remember us :) -Priya July 2022…
For us Bubbles Dive Center and Resort has been heaven on earth. The friendly staff, the secluded beach, the very nice house reef, the turtle sanctuary, the laid back ‘vibe’,… are only some of the highlights that this resort has to offer. I believe some of the less positive reviews are coming from people that have not done their research properly and that are expecting 5-star LUXURY resort based on the high Tripadvisor and Google ratings. This is NOT a five-star luxury retreat! This is a five-star Padi dive center with basic but clean accommodation which offers - for the right audience - a fantastic experience of relaxing, going back to nature,… It is hard to describe but for us the laid back ‘vibe’ was magical and perfect for what we were looking for during our honeymoon. My wife did a Padi open water course during our 5D/4N stay and her instructor Adik was fantastic. He was very professional, friendly and made sure that the whole course was a pleasant experience with his catchy laugh. I did 8 fun dives and all instructors (Chris, Abang,…) were great. Dive instructor/lead Grace was also very friendly and quick to respond to any questions we had. During two of the four nights we indicated that we wanted to be woken up for any turtle activity during the night. During the first night we saw baby turtles being released back into the sea and during the second night we saw a mother turtle laying eggs on the beach. A magical experience. If we do need to make a recommendation for improvement then it would be to increase the variety of the food. The tastes were great, but a little more variation and maybe a BBQ and/or a grilled fish dinner would make it even better. But all in all it did not impact our overall positive experience. A big thank you to Peisee, Ronnee and all other team members to make this a memorable experience!…
This is my family’s 4th trip to Bubbles. It is my children’s happy place. We’ve been coming here almost yearly since 2017 when my children were 4 years old, thwarted that one year only by the pandemic. They are now 9. They first learned to snorkel on a standard snorkel trip we took here. They could not even manage the proper masks then so only used their regular goggles and would come up for air every now and again. The Bubbles boatmen and staff who used to follow us on these trips were lovely, helping them get adjusted to the open sea, helping us where needed. Today, my twins take to the activity like little fishes in water. We love everything about the place, but particularly the gorgeous beach, the people who run and manage it, and also the turtle conservation work that they do so respectfully. We typically spent 5 nights there and it always still seems like it’s never enough as my kids can just spent hours playing on the sand, snorkeling near the house reefs (bring your own snorkel masks but you can borrow life jackets for free and keep them for the duration of your stay), challenging each other by swimming to the pontoon (the wooden structure in the middle of the sea off the beach) or looking for unusual shells and hermit or ghost crabs (plus many other creatures) on the sand near the surf. They also now have standing paddle boats, tyre floats and little duck boats that you can borrow to play with in the water. In the afternoons, we can enjoy a complementary snack offered by the resort or ice creams and yummy smoothies (our favourite is the orange mango one) from their Thirsty Turtle Bar. In between, we sometimes take extra snorkel trips you can take by going out on a boat to other snorkel sites around the resort to see the amazing marine life that Perhentian has to offer. We’ve seen turtles at Turtle Point, beautiful coral and fish (big and little) We hope that these beautiful sites are maintained so that our children can continue to enjoy and appreciate them for years to come. In the evenings, especially during the peak turtle nesting and hatching seasons (usually June to August), you and your kids may have the chance to witness the magical events of a mother turtle coming to shore to lay eggs or turtle hatchlings being released after being incubated in their hatchery. You only have to indicate if you would like to be woken up to experience these in person (as they normally happen at odd hours of the early morning). Here, turtles are treated with lots of respect. No white light from 7pm to 7am. Humans are always reminded to keep a distance when observing and even on snorkeling trips, no touching or riding turtles (unlike many of the larger resorts). Just admiring their natural beauty and nature’s amazing process from a distance. The owners Peisee, Ronnie and Gan are lovely people. We did not know Peisee and Ronnie well when we first came but as we got to know them better over the years, we realised why many of the regular patrons are good friends with them. They infuse the resort with a special kind of vibe and character. They’ve always been warm, loving and friendly, caring about our kids as if they were their own (and we are happy for Aunty Peisee to reprimand them if they are not behaving well and treating things in the beach and resort respectfully!). We look forward to visiting again next year! I would highly recommend it for families who want a place with limited or no wifi in the rooms so they can really connect with each other (we had lots of fun with low tech games like card games and charades!), want to learn more about nature and are looking for relaxed and comfortable rooms, but not expecting luxurious or five-star service (though I feel it’s five-star of a different kind!). Please message me for tips if needed.…
We stayed at Bubbles for a short getaway from the hustle ans bustle of the city and left the island completely recharged! The staff were friendly and helpful especially from the dive centre and reception area. We were attended to efficiently and everything felt like being part of one big family. Pearly the receptionist was also very accommodating and went well above and beyond in making our stay as comfortable as possible. We did a discovery scuba dive and the instructor Chris was very calm and good at explaining the procedures which put my fiance at ease. Although she didn't manage complete the dive due to personal reasons, she still felt well taken care of throughout the whole process. During our stay we also were lucky enough to witness turtles hatching and laying eggs! And to top it all off, the view of the starry night sky really brought us closer to nature. The only complaint we have is that we couldn't stay longer. Definitely will need to visit again!…
Bubble's Dive resort is heavenly. It is a place where families and all guests are welcomed with open arms, into the Bubbles family. We have just arrived home after a 6 night stay and were all emotional to say goodbye. The beach is idilic and kept that way by a team of people who genuinely care and work tirelessly. The staff and crew are wonderful, kind and generous. The Dive crew are incredible and got our 9 year old hooked on diving... Chris is a superhero in our boy's eyes. The Conservation team are inspiring, working so hard and are really having a positive impact on the environment and on responsible tourism in the Perhentains. They are leading the way, with a gentle, caring approach to conservation that puts wildlife first. We were so happy to see nesting mothers and also hatchlings being released. The guests are Bubbles are equally lovely... like-minded and soon become friends for the children and adults alike. Finally, Ronnie and Peisee, the owners are incredible. Thank you so much for welcoming us and for the most wonderful experience. We will be back since I think we left a piece of each of our hearts at Bubbles.…
This is the first time I am writing a review about a resort I had been, no resort will prompted me so much to write. We chose this resort based on good reviews and really looking forward to it after three years of Covid and not travelling. On the first day we arrived ( as we were travelling mostly with kids), no one greeted us or helped us with our luggages, I thought this was a norm as they already warned us beforehand that they were short of staffs, we carried all our luggages from the jetty to the shore, still no one showed us where was the reception, as we were hungry we quickly found our way and checked in, but lo and behold, the following days when we were playing on the beach, we saw a few groups of people arriving from jetty, they were well greeted and staffs waiting at the jetty for them, helping them with luggages, and they were happily talking to the people who just arrived, soon we knew that they were friends. To add to that, there were one incident whereby the kids didn’t put back the canoeing board during lunch, only our kids got scolding from the lady owner, and not her friends’ kids, who even left the the board further by the rock! When we parents tried to apologise she just stormed off, what a bad attitude to show a customer! Throughout the trip, we felt we were outsiders joining the owner’s friends or relatives gatherings, they were laughing and talking out loud in the common eating area, the host didn’t bother to check on us, not even a simple gestures of good morning, soon we learnt mostly who came here were their friends, relatives and regular patrons. If not for the turtle conservation project teams, snorkelling trips, some volunteers’ staffs especially the lady staff behind the counter attending to us throughout our trip, I don’t think we can survived our 3D2N trips there, thanks to them, the two stars given are for them! On the day when we checked out, we were worried too because the boat which took us to the mainland were quite full! There were 21 of us including the luggages! I only realised the boat was only with capacity of 12 persons when my kid showed me the signboard while alighting from the boat in the mainland. Thanks God we reached safely! I will never recommend this resort!…
Owner managed and operated. That means, the owners (husband and wife) are there to monitor everything from the dive centre, to the rooms, restaurant, etc. We needed to submit a negative covid test report before being to board the boat to the island. This is exemplary. This is the ONLY RESORT on this part of the island. Thus kids can run around all by themselves. There are no outsiders here. Bubbles provide free paddle boards, canoe and children floaties. Life jackets are free and one is able to rent snorkeling gear for RM10. The corals on the left and right side of the jetty are ok in my opinion. Though many have died due a storm 2 years back, it is still an experience for many. Food wise is Omakase (meaning whatever they cook, you eat!!!)...hahahah. NOt enough to eat? Ask for a free top up. There were European and Asian families there. No one has any issues with it at all. Water is free, so as ice. One can buy drinks, ice cream, italian coffee and 'drinks' from the counter. Conservation is the key and priority to their existence. They run a turtle conservation project and if you have young kids, this is brilliant for them. They can join in the activities organized by the team from hunting for turtle eggs at night, to sieving for plastics at the beach during the day. The chemicals they use to clean the place, the way they talk about trash... all point to them LIVING what they say. The rooms, food and decor are all basic but the experience is nothing but that. Kudos to the owners and the staff there. They run the place with love, attention and focus. I had been to P Perhentian over the last 20 years and stayed at many places. This place for me is TOPS. This is how a resort in a protected reserve should be managed.…
A ‘bubble’ of relaxation and fun! Last week my family and I went to Bubbles Dive Resort and I will never forget my time there. Firstly I would like to say how amazing the food was. Every meal was a delicious delight and I hope the food is always like this; the beef bourguignon was my favourite! The beach was small but it felt so private, like being in our own little ‘bubble.’ The beach is so beautiful, the water, as clear as crystal and the marine life, exotic and colourful. In all my time there I was never bored. There were lots of kayaks and paddle boards to play on. And, of course, you can swim, snorkel and dive! One of my biggest highlights was the people at Bubbles. Everyone was so friendly and I would like to say a special thank you to my diving instructor Grace. She was so patient with me and I had such a fun time diving with her. If you are expecting something fancy this is not your place, but if you want peace, fun and relaxation in a beautiful environment, come to Bubbles.…
We had an amazing week at the bubble of a beach at Perhentian. We went for five days, though we wished we could have stayed for longer, This was because of the amazing and kind community of staff; the clear, unspoilt ocean with fish, sharks, and turtles; the delicious child friendly set meals, so great that the fish made my sister quit her phobia of fish, and a chocolate mousse for which my mother broke her Lenten rule about no deserts on weekdays! You may be confused about my rave review of the food at Bubbles, as some older reviews complained about the basic and plain food. However this is no longer so: a new change, that we were lucky enough to experience, had Bubbles hiring a new amazing chef and deciding to cook ‘local’, reversing the bland food to tasty and mouthwatering. If you are willing to give up a couple hours of sleep to have a memorable experience, you may see turtles. Usually from April to August, adorable mother turtles come to lay their eggs on the Bubbles beach. The staff at Bubbles Conservation Centre check the beach every hour through the night for a turtle, and if you set your door sign to ‘yes’, they will wake you to show you this once in a lifetime experience. Bubbles is advertised as being a dive resort and certainly is. On our five day stay, I dove three times, and reached, as a totally inexperienced diver, down to thirteen metres! We learnt from a qualified dive instructor, Grace, how to equalize, breathe, and organise our gear. We must have seen thousands of different species of interesting marine creatures! The only thing I could possibly complain about is the sea plankton biting my skin, but a problem easily solved with an antihistamine, calamine lotion and long sleeve swim suits. I really miss our bubble of an Island and would recommend it to any who wants to explore the oceans, relax on an idyllic beach and meet turtles.…
