1. We had a great time on the boat, the snorkelling trip, and the view was amazing. We checked in on Thursday, and we felt like having the resort to our own. The resort became busier on Friday & Saturday. 2. Booking, checking in & out was quick and hassle-free. 3. The resort is near to the jetty; therefore, we did not have to walk very far. 4. The quality of the food was above average. Foods were cooked deliciously. The buffet choice was plenty, considering the COVID-19 pandemic. 5. The resort facilities, however, could use several improvements: 1. The room should be maintained regularly. The management cannot depend on complaints from the guests alone. Have a regular inspection and repair program. 2. Housekeeping is basic. Toiletries (shampoo) still contains Methylparaben. 3. The bathroom is huge, it should have a physical separation between the shower area 7 the toilet to avoid the bathroom floor from getting wet. 4. The hot water is only available during the day when solar power is abundant. 5. There were no TV channels. After some troubleshooting, we still got no TV, and we were advised to change our suite. At the new suite, we still got no TV. Then the staff at the Reception explained that the antenna was struck by lightning. The staff could have been truthful in the first place. 6. We noticed some rubbish was left at a spot without proper disposal. We also saw a giant lizard rummaging the trash. This poses a health & safety hazard. 6. Compliance to COVID-19 SOP: 1. No temperature screening equipment. 2. Staffs were not wearing face masks/face shields at any time we were there. 3. No movement control/physical distancing during the breakfast buffet. The staff must take proactive controls; they cannot depend on the guests because they were hungry. This resort is a best-seller, but please proceed with caution.

Hotel is located right next to jetty on Coral Bay, very easy access to boats; and has many nice standalone chalets; however they are horribly maintained. I stayed for 3 nights and there was No housekeeping service- towels and sheets remains unchanged; the toilet door was broken; and halfway through a shower, the exhaust fan fell off. Reported this to management but the lackadaisical response was that management needed guests to be in room for fixing (however our day time were filled with diving therefore unable to be in). Rooms were dusty, and toilet not very clean. Hot water was non existent and water pressure super weak. Lots of mosquitoes- room included a electrical mosquito repellent but without the refills. Breakfast was horrible as well- cooking was all oily. I would rate the food 2/10. I would take my money elsewhere instead of this hotel!

Well, we had a very bad surprise with this place. It seems very nice on the pictures but... - There is no swimming pool as advertised - Extremely poor housekeeping - Unpleasant smell in the rooms - Dirty toilets - Room full of dust - Very uncomfortable bed Has an amazing view, private beach, nice breakfast, staff is polite and nice, but the services they provide are really low quality.

PERFECT for backpackers and people who doesn't really stay in their bedroom in general I am incredibly dissatisfied by this hotel's accommodations, the reason is because: 1. The rooms feel old and musty. 2. The frequent power outages we're very inconvenient, it would cut at the most random moments without any warning, and the fact that the place had a very hot and humid atmosphere did not help a bit. 3. The hotel food is mediocre at best. The food is just bland, and looks very unappetizing. 4. Also fair warning, there is no "Free Wi-Fi"! You are able to connect your phone or iPad to the wifi but there will be no internet connection. I would personally never come back!

I’m spending my holiday here for the second year, I'm satisfied as well as for the first time. I like the hotel compound because I spend my holiday on my own and would like to hole up with nature. The staff members are polite, responsive, everything matches my preferences. The food is very tasty, generous portions. I’m very satisfied, I guess I come back here again!

Hello! We’ve been staying there for 11 days, and everything was OK! Everyone is friendly! Meals are nice! Although we don’t consume meat and fish, we always found something delicious. Moreover, I would like to mention the housekeepers’ work and quality of the clean-up! We’re especially thankful for it!

OMG Shari-La is probably the worst hotel we've stayed in. The staffs are helpful and friendly enough but the place is rodents infested. We first stayed in the villa which is right next to a building site, there's mice dropping in the living room, and furnitures are very old and worn out. There's a big hole in one of the bedstead which I suspect was chewed through by mice. We informed the reception and we were moved to a different rooms the next day but on the second night in the new room we saw a mice ran past! The place is just not very clean, which is a shame as the diving was great.

After a disastrous stay at another place, my boyfriend came to Shari-La at midnight to ask/beg for a room for the night so we didn’t have to stay in the cockroach infested Maya chalet down the beach. The lovely man on reception was very helpful, quickly found us a budget room for the night and said he’d wait for us to pack up and collect our things. We eventually made it to check in at almost 1am and both men who had helped were there to greet us and help us with our bags and show us to the room. They were the friendliest, kindest and most helpful people we could have wanted after such an awful night elsewhere. Both men made sure our room was okay before leaving and told us all the information about breakfast. Fast forward to the morning - we went to reception to ask to stay for another night but would like to have a standard room instead. The lovely man on reception told us a room would be available but we would probably have to wait til the 3pm check in. When we checked out of our first room we were told our room was ready already (at 11:30am!) and we could go straight there. Our room is spacious, cool, comfortable with a hot shower, a/c and a queen sized bed. The breakfast is included both times and there’s a range of both local and continental options available. As a veggie I was easily able to fill up on eggs (freshly made how you like them!), toast, waffles, cereals, fruits, juices... it was great! The only reason I’ve given 4 stars is that some of the outside areas look a bit down-trodden and in need of a spruce up or a lick of paint in some areas. Other than that the rooms are lovely and the main lobby and reception areas are super clean and inviting. I can’t thank Shari-La enough for the kindness, friendliness and understanding they have shown us over the last 24 hours. Every person we’ve spoken to has been smiley, friendly and helpful and has gone out of their way to make us feel welcome. I absolutely would recommend staying here and would stay here again should I ever be on Perhentian Kecil again 😊
