Very convenient place, located on Long Beach and restaurants. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I like the breakfast place, it has nice view of the sea and delicious food was served via buffet style. However cleanliness of the room can be improved as we found stain on the bedsheet. Other than that, the room was good.

We came having read the reviews here and elsewhere - to be honest we were desperate to find anything on Perhentian that wasn’t a tent or a wooden hut.

You need to have a sense of context when deciding the merits of this place. The islands are stunning and rightly have not been allowed to become a sprawling tourist hotspot. Infrastructure is minimal and there is not the capital investment available to the locals to make it any better.

The steps are a non issue - I’ve had to take on far worse at some very expensive resorts in Europe and it wasn’t even a consideration.

The rooms are very basic, the beds are comfortable-ish and the bathrooms work just about. It’s clean and functional. The air con works well and this makes a massive difference.

The staff just seem a bit sad and despondent - it’s like they want to do well but no-one ever showed them the basics of what to do. They stand around looking like they want to help but never actually manage to achieve much.

The breakfast is another disappointment - not much worth eating apart from the pancakes which are adequate but availability is hit and miss.

We paid £100 per night per room which is steep for a hotel that is so basic and down at heel. However I come back to the context - there is a lot of demand and not much supply. It is on a beautiful desert island with lovely local people showing you the sights, giving you amazing food and making you welcome. If you can find better accommodation you should take it, but if you have to stay here do it with eyes wide open and don’t moan about it!

Advantages :
The bar area was nice to chill. Very friendly bartender.Nice music.

Disadvantages:
1. Basic room, very small. No fridge, kettle
2. No hot water, low water pressure
3. Tiring hike to the room. Not only steep steps but also elevated path to the room.
4. Very far walk to the dive centers
5. Expensive for a basic room

The location and the staff are the strenghts of this hotel.
It is located on right side of Long Beach in Kecil Island.
I was initially assigned a room at the ground floor, but I had to change it the day after because walls were completly wet (I guess caused by humidity) . Rooms at 2nd and 3rd floor do not have this problem. The whole bathroom is structured to serve as a shower box, therefore when you take a shower the whole area gets wet and difficult to dry.
There are no mosquitos nets on the windows so if you want to get some air, you get bitten and rooms gets filled with flies.
Only 2 big towels are given. Not very clean, sometimes still damp. No minibar, no hairdryer, but a laundry service is available and a boiler with coffee as well.
They offer a service of luggage transport if you request it; They can carry them from the main Jetty, located on the opposite side of the beach, to the hotel with a tractor.
