Decent rooms, clean and simple- with good service. Rooms are simple with Airconditioning and bright airy rooms. Only lacking was a water heater (that is if you like hot showers!).
Fuss free, located in the middle of a hilltop- between coral beach and Long Beach. It’s about a 12 mins hike uphill from coral beach jetty or a 5 mins stroll from Long Beach. Good for those wanting a simple fuss free accomodation in a jungle hilltop!

The rooms are simple but clean and have a fan and a mosquito net and all this for only 40 rm for two person. The stuff is really nice and helpfull. They also offer indian food and this is good and cheap. It is the same with the breakfast.
The hotel is located in the middle of the island. So it is 5 minutes to both beaches. The way is a little bit difficult and in the night you need a torch.

After looking around the island, this hostel was the best value for money we could find. It was cheaper than the rest with nice private rooms. Location was half way the two main beaches, perfect for exploring and staff friendly and helpful

We looked at every place (except Tropicana) on Perhentian and stayed in another place which was RH60 for a double room. The room was falling apart to say the least and was damp and dark (no electricity during the day. We were then told about Tropicana which is 5 mins walk from the beach, up the hill. For only RH40 this was by far the best room. Clean, good fan, mozzy net, tiled bathroom, free wifi in restaurant, 24hr electricity and such nice staff. If you're staying on Long Beach, there is no better place to stay.

May 18, 2011 We recently stayed for 3 nights and were very impressed with the service which was the best we had encountered in Terengganu island . The food was very good and wi fi worked most of the time. The included tour of the monastery was very interesting. Overall a lovely place to stay. I love this place! Mac.xoxo

having not seen any mention of the dorms in the guide books and websites , I was under the impression that my stay on Perhentian Island will be a short one as I m travelling on atight budget, upon arrival on the island I was told of the dorms in Tropicana and checked them out. at 15 ringget for a bed in the dorm with unsuite bathroom I was pleasantly surprised to drop my rucksack . very helpful pleasant staff and option of the cheap breakfast at the hostel communal area helped me exyend my stay on the island for 5 days. I d highy recommend tropicana for backpackers travelling to the island. Bring your torch though as you ll need it to walk back to the hostel after partying at nights!

This hostel is cheap - 40rm for two of us per night, but you wouldn't pay any more ! They have a bit of a problem with Mosquitos and it is a long and difficult trek from the beach, it is actually as quick to walk to coral bay than long beach so you can definitely say it is right in the centre of the thinnest point of kecil island. That said, you get what you pay for and it's a roof over your head. It is a hell of a building site though ! If you can afford more than £4 per night each, chose a closer hostel, you won't regret it.

Originally we planned to stay 5 days, but at the end we extended to 15. Rooms are clean, with attached bathroom and very reasonably priced (40 RM/night, note price might be higher during Malaysia holidays).
Bonus is free Wifi and electricity 24 hours/day (most other accommodations have limited electricity, only during night).

Friendly staff with good clean accomodation 24 hr electricity and free wifi... Which is a big plus compared to other resorts food was pretty okay too

This place is great value. It is inexpensive & clean, it also has free wifi & 24 hour electricity (both of which you would rarely see on the island). Its location is perfect in that it is a 5 minute walk from both long beach & coral bay. The staff are kind; honest & helpful - particularly the owner who is very friendly, he helped us out by generously sourcing medication for my girlfriends ear ache (there are no pharmacies on the island so this could have been quite a problem). They have both dormitory & en-suite bed rooms; I can highly recommend them for a great stay in the Perhentians!!
