Booked Bubu Villa without really checking the pics or reviews as it was a long weekend and rushed the booking. I was pleasantly surprised when I entered the villa. It was beautiful and very private with own portico, bedroom and good amenities. Service was exceptional and in most cases the staff went beyond what was asked for. They were very responsive since the booking phase itself and I did have quite a few queries which were replied to very professionally. Location is great with the beach right in front of the villa. I thought it was pricey and booked it anyway but realized it was totally worth it. Rooms look very modern and clean. Most common issue on islands are hit water and the pressure of the water coming out of the showers and taps. Bubu has hot water at all times with good water pressure, air conditioning worked very well on sunny days. The bathrooms have no privacy though so it may seem weird for some guests to share an open bathroom with roommates. There should have been a sliding curtain atleast but wasn't much of an issue in my case. Our toddler slept through the nights as it was very silent. Beds were clean and rooms were cozy. There is a tap and a shower outside the room as well to clean the sand off the body which was perfect. Clothes drying stand was a plus as most of the times you're on wet clothes from the beach. Plug sockets are plenty and I was able to charge different devices at the same time. Cupboard were well placed away from the entrance view and are spacious. Electronic locker was provided though we couldn't use it. Suggest the management to reset after every guest checks out. Only con I had was with the food at the restaurant which was a hit or a miss. 2 out of 3 times the food was delicious and portions were big. We ordered a seafood platter which was one of the most expensive dish on the menu and some of the items were quite bad, especially the fish was rubbery and chewy and the squid was overcooked and hard. Scallops and Lobster was on point though. Drinks were particularly bar prices especially the cocktails but there are a few cheaper beer and wine options available. All in all, it's a very good place to stay with great service and accommodation. Minor things can be improved but then again, it's an island.

Stayed for 5 days in the Garden Villa which was lovely with good showering water pressure and we had privacy away from the noise of the bass music. The garden Villa also have an outdoor shower and outdoor tap in its own grounds for rinse off before entering villa. The BBQ selection of squid and Grouper which comes with grilled potato and salad was delicious with its special sauce. Squid and fish was perfectly grilled compared to the other stalls along the beach. The tiramisu was tasty with portion size enough for 2 pax. Happy hour is strictly 5pm to 6pm and with a variety of alcoholic , mocktails and soft drinks. It comes with a some peanuts and canape to enjoy the sunset hour before heading back for a shower prior to dinner. Shoutout to the Bubu Villa crew whom are indeed hardworking and cheerful although working long hours and Lili the Receptionist was very attentive. A small suggestion is that It would be nicer if the staff could wear badge with their names for easier reference. Overall, it was one of best chillaxing staycations during this year.

We were a bit worried going to the Perhentians as we were told it is a backpackers' type of place and hotels are not good. After reading reviews, we decided on Bubu Villa and we were very happy we did so!! It is located at the opposite of Bubu resort and the jetty. At our arrival, we were transferred on a smaller boat with our luggage. The beach is fantastic with white sand and transparent water. The service at the resort is excellent, very friendly and efficient. We stayed in a garden villa and were very happy. Very clean, modern, comfortable bed, aircon, fan, and all amenities, safe, wardrobe, inside toilet and bathroom with rain shower. There is a mini fridge but no TV. We liked the fact that we had privacy and could shower and rinse the diving equipment in the outside shower before entering the villa (the beach villas have no private garden and are close to the bar). We enjoyed the delicious cocktails and the free cocktail at 5pm! Do not miss the grilled fish bbq at night. Delicious. Generally, the food at the restaurant is simple, unpretentious but really fresh. It is good value for money. The pastas, salads, mozzarella, grilled fish with rice and salad, veggies were really good. They could improve the breakfast though as choice was limited and very repetitive (everyday the same dishes). The only downfall at Bubu villa is the popularity of the beach. There are way too many boats sometimes and the local authorities should limit the number of boats coming directly on the beach. Regarding the noise at night (which we read in some reviews) we did not experience it at all. It was very quiet after 10pm. Big parties used to happen 5 or 6 years ago, but apparently it is no longer the case.
To conclude, I highly recommend Bubu Villa as it is probably the best hotel on Perhentian Kecil. We hope to return to Bubu Villa soon for another great holiday.

We were two family with kids reserved BuBu villa for few nights.
The location is nice along the beach but the property has been poorly managed.
First of all, it is very hard to communicate with staff since most of them are immigrants.
The quality of breakfast was very poor despite cost of 5 start hotel being charged .
The rooms were ok, though my other friend had drama in their room after few lizards dropped up on them in the bed.
The backyard of rooms were terrible and poorly managed for hygiene.

What was the most painful experience was that the poor labours working in the hotel were forced by management to take any opourtuntiy to save more money to the owner. Many examples in this front. For instance we missed the afternoon cocktails two days just few minutes after 6:00 PM ( believe me second time was 6:03). Staff rudely refused to be flexible and provide drinks , in both opourtuntiy I took chance to speak with managed in charge ( Mr.Long) to ensure staff are properly trained and customers are satisfied. In both occasion he asked the name of staff rather than providing resolution where o refused to provide and told him this does not serve the purpose of conversation .
In other occasion, we had our own wine at restaurant and as per rule paid corkage fees. Also took couple of Red Bull’s and use ice bucket , surprise to have 100 MYR charged for ice bucket separately . After argument , staff were afraid to remove the item from the bill arguing it is impossible.
The internet was very poor, During check out, they asked if we can pay the bill by cash, we would have another drama if did not have spare cash.
Another thing to highlight is that the hotel does not have secured door or any security during the night . The rooms exposed to public beach where there are lots of drunk strangers which can access the public beach easily. I could not feel safe much during the night.

Thank you.

I had an amazing amazing stay. All my needs were attended to very well. Breakfast coffee was delicious. Food and variety could be better, but those fresh hot croissants we're just so yummy! Complimentary evening drinks n snacks... awesome delight! Comfy bed, amazing location, breathtaking bathroom. The garden villa is probably one of the best, private and luxurious stay I've ever had. Definitely on top of my list. The swim at the beach nearby really surprised me when I saw beautiful fishes, some were mirror like clear colored fishes. That definitely felt like a piece of heaven on earth.

Wonderful staffs, lovely smiles and service. Great great great boat service made me feel like an ultimate VIP. Also, never miss that amazing sunrise every morning. That really opened up my heart!!!!! Great yoga class by Zen too.

Amazing snorkeling trip arranged by the villa too. As I was alone in this trip, the boat guy really took care of me, made sure I'm safe at all times, guided me throughout the snorkeling trip. He showed me corals that closed up when touched, taught me to stand on the rocks next to the corals, he really made me feel special and privileged. Too bad I didn't catch his name. Nice guy😉. Really made it one of the best snorkeling trip ever.

No complaints at all. Just love love love. Would definitely definitely definitely come back!

We were there from 13 - 16 August stayed in beach villa C3. Firstly if you're looking to get away from it all and some peace and quiet, this isn't the place. Secondly the beach villa has no sea view. Villa was kinda run down. You will be exposed to constant air pollution from some nearby gen set that runs 24/7. You will hear the noise and loud music of partying from the beach to the wee hours. In the evening the beautiful beach is super crowded.

Now for the service. The housekeeper was good. Clean and prompt. Ryan from the restaurant deserves special mention. Very friendly and always helpful. Daniel is all over the place, forgot our requests. Never follows up. Overpromises and Underdelivers. Our snorkelling trip was badly organised. we were out at sea without snorkelling gear and had to wait on the rocky boat for half hour whilst another boat delivered some gear.

Food in the restaurant was mediocre and I'm being nice :-) Our satay was still raw and was sent back. Food is much much better at Bubu Resort.

Our advise to especially couples who plan to go to Bubu Villa for honeymoon:

The good:
- Waqar the cook is nice and prepare us good dishes for breakfast. I am very happy with the breakfast dish Egg Benedict he served us every morning with a smile and politeness. Highly recommending him to work at another hotel.
- a cocktail with a small amount of canapé
- easy Check-in with Welcome Drink, transport directly to the stay and back to the jetty
- silence around the stay

The bad:
- We paid a lot to the accomodation, to recognize that Bubu Villa is not offering us anything special due to our honeymoon and not for my birthday without any additional charge. The price for the accomodation is comparable to a five star hotel, where the quality of service, food and entertainment are a way better.
- cleaning service of the room: the staff are all very polite and greet you on the way. But they are a kind of negligent. They leave their cleaning rag and cleaning soap in the room, didn't change the water glasses at one day or not fill up the tea bags.
- the expensive stay does not mean luxury or good service
- they don't have a pool offering or nice amenities for the money we paid.
- reception service quality is differentiating from person to person
- all in all, there are probably other better options at the long beach to stay - less price, Same or probably even better Service. MIMPI for example could offer much more and is better connected to the jetty.
- many mosquitos also within the stay
- very bad WiFi connection in the room and always limited to a few MBit.

Our stay at Bubu Villas was fabulous from start to finish. From the airport pick up, to the service we received throughout our stay. We were treated like royalty and could not have asked for better.

We stayed in a Family Beach Villa which boasted two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a day room – just perfect for our needs. The housekeeping staff were faultless in their care and attention to detail on a daily basis.

The reception staff were always available for anything we needed. The service team, providing us with our cocktails and all our general needs, were the best we have ever experienced. Mikey makes a fabulous drink to complement the chefs afternoon canapes. Nasir was fabulous, he knew what we needed before we knew ourselves and was on hand throughout our stay for anything we wanted or needed.

The food was spectacular. Breakfast offered freshly squeezed juice to order, an array of fresh fruit, pastries rolls, nuts and yoghurt. The fantastic catering team were also on hand to provide hot food to order. Waquar’s French toast with banana and chocolate sauce was the best we have ever eaten. The breakfast omelette also rivalled anything we have had elsewhere. For lunch or in the evening, we had a vast choice of Thai, western and BBQ food. Between Angelo’s western delights, the thai team’s expert dishes and the BBQ specialities we worked hard to eat as much of the menu as possible so we could experience everything.

All the staff, from the managers to the maintenance team were friendly polite and attentive. They could not do enough to make our stay comfortable and special. We went on a fabulous snorkelling trip to the Islands highlights.

The service we received, combined with the stunning beauty of the Island made for the perfect holiday

Had high expectation for the villa but they messed up our booking. Booked a family villa for 4+1 but was given 2 garden villas instead, without being notified. It does not make sense for a resort to downgrade the room you paid for without notice. Unintentionally or not, this is not good faith. (Garden villas are the lowest-priced property, which is far cheaper than what we paid for).

When confronted,

1. . It seems that there were no more available family rooms when we arrived, even though we booked it online.

2. The management team was defensive and try to argue. Saying the reason we were given the downgraded room was the fam room only fit 4 (when in reality website mentioned 5).

3. The manager leaves the problem to the PART-TIME front desk lady to solve. She was clearly struggling

After a long back & forth of argument, only they agreed to move us to 2 beach villas (middle tiers) which we had no choice but to agree, since there're no fam villa available anymore.

In summary, we do not get what we booked for, room was changed without notification. My sense was there were no malicious intent but just poor management and problem solving. Pros: waiters and other ancillary staffs there are excellent and friendly, rooms were okay otherwise.

For other fellow travelers out there, don't get blindsided by accepting rooms you did not agreed on.

From the first moment at Besut jetty to the last moment at Kota Bharu airport, the level of engagement and service shown by Bubu Villa/Resort was fantastic.

We shared a family villa set in the garden at Bubu Villa, comprising 2 bedrooms, a "snug" and two bathrooms (outside but well sheltered). Very comfortable beds etc.

Bubu Villa is at the bottom end of Long beach, perhaps the quieter end, although there weren't many people around anyway.

The food is very good indeed, with the Italian Chef serving up an array of Italian and Asian dishes. Considering the surroundings and quality of food we think it was good value. The free cocktail and yummy snack each night was a great experience!

Breakfast was great too, a good selection of fruit, pastries, cereal, yoghurt, nuts etc plus cold cheese & meat, plus the smiling face of Waqar almost begging you to have an omelette, fried eggs or pancakes etc!

Worthy of special mention was Nasir, who quietly served us with grace and we enjoyed talking to him about home in Pakistan.

This hotel is well located to take advantage of the great diving & snorkelling on offer

If you get the chance, go to Bubu!!
