Check in and out - The housekeeping taking few hours to clean the room and able to check in at 3pm, but the room still not ready yet, without towel, amenities, room without telephone to call front desk, walking to the reception but it's take 1 hour to sent the towel and amenities. Restaurant - the food was terrible, salty, the drinks was too sweet, flies are around the food. Beach - dirty and without proper maintenance. Room - Room was oldish and smelly. The surrounding was like a jungle but not for stay-cation or holiday purpose.

We have stayed 10 days at bubu Villa which is not common as people normally stay 3/4 nights. We wanted to relax so we decide to stay. The bubu Villa is the best place to sleep and the most expensive you can find in Perhentian, except that the service is very poor. The Villa is nice, big not very clean (sometimes not even cleaned before 4pm) but it is average if you spend half of the money we have spent. The breakfast is at your own responsibility. You set up the table for your self and go and grab food. The food in general is very good but you have to wait between 30 and 50 minute to have it. Prices in the menu are free of services and local tax. So do not forget to add 6% and 10%. In Long Beach you can have a tom yam for 10 RM served with a smile, in Bubu the same soup cost 45+10%+6% none smile, and you wait for 40 minutes just for a small amount of quality plus. For lunch I asked a fresh fruit platter, which is in the menu no request on demand, and they told me it was finished. After an hour I saw a fresh fruit platter comes to other gusts asked why and they said they do not serve fruit platter for lunch time as the chef has no time to cut fruits. But when I asked the chef why this policy since the fruit platter cost 45 RM, he said no problem to serve fruits at lunchtime. So there is a mystery about fruits platter. The hotel is on the best part of Long Beach. They offer umbrella and chairs. Most of the chairs are broken and if guest move the chairs following the sun none of the staff move the chairs back for the following morning. We stay there 10 nights sheets have been changed once only because we asked for. We had 3 days of top service as we know the owner of the resort came there. Now if I can understand that without the boss the staff relax a little bit, I cannot accept that service goes from top to worst. When the boss was there even the beach was cleaned and chairs put into place. Once the boss is gone the caos on the beach again. I suggest the boss to send someone undercover and verify himself. As an average comments I would say: nice Villa, good position, good food but the service is very poor considering how much it cost and the average prices of the island. …

This was the holiday of a lifetime. A fantastic experience for all of us (2x 60+ somethings and 2x 20+ somethings). Carla and her entire team without exception were attentive, friendly, and each very interesting in their own individual way. From first impressions as we landed on the beach, through the welcome drink and Carla's very helpful introduction to island life, the food, and happy hour cocktails every day that you can set your watch by ready for the evenings activities along the beach (fire show, lots of excellent food, beach bars), will remain in our memories for a very long time - well at least until we return again!! The beach was a great blend of very clean, and lively enough to be interesting without overcrowding (the two weeks before Europe schools break for summer). So much to do too! We were here 8 nights and were busy right through, snorkelling with turtles, baby shaks (sic), little Nemo's and a whole host of other tropical fish. We were lucky enough to see, on two separate days, turtles come up the beach in front of the hotel to lay 100+ eggs (taken to a local sanctuary for hatching and release), and watch the mothers (Shirley Turts and Lily Shelby) make their way back to the water after dark. Amazing wildlife. A short day trip to Redang island was very worthwhile too - beautiful beaches. The boat boys (GreenBoys next to the hotel) were super helpful and friendly for all our excursions out to sea. We made a great number of ongoing social media friends on this trip. We used the spa on several occasions - June's massages were terrific after a long day in the sun and sea. Treks through the jungle to the "windmills" (wind/solar generating station at a high point on the island - breathtaking views), and a short jungle walk across the island to other beaches were great too, but choose the time of day to do these activities carefully, and take water - it gets very hot in the sun!!…

Meet and greet office staff and sea transfer staff very friendly. Family room, very big, Clean, Nice Location, breakfast food very good. Front office ladies not smiling at all , staff at the front office and F&B here need to improve a lot on customer service, smiling , greeting, not double standard only smiling an greeting to foreigner guest , but not Asian. Thank you for the breakfast Chef , everyday greeting us with smiling and cook nice food. Very picturesque view of the blue sea from the villa reception area. Staff were attentive and friendly while the food by chef Angelo was great. The family villa was clean and comforable. Only gripe is the mozzies which kept coming at us and bothering our sleep. Overall the kids had a great time at the villa resort. Would definitely consider holidaying at Bubu some other time.

I write this with mixed feelings. The resort itself with 18 Garden Villas is the nicest facility on that side of the island. Its high price offers nice accommodations, exquisite food offerings by their Italian chef, a great beach in front of it. I had a bad issue with room reservations because local personnel had extended a visitor's stay plus added a late checkout till 2:30 pm while I had to wait for that room having arrived at noon time per the companies reservation system where I had reserved that particular room. Other than that, service was good and personnel tries to personalize their attention. But a big problem is what happens on Perhentian Kecil island itself. Restaurants have added hundreds of chairs and tables , way beyond their potential capacity or ability to service food, resulting in very little beach left to lay down on a towel or even walk. Many chairs are put on the beach about 3 feet from the surf! Poor planning and oversight, greed, deteriorating infrastructure and absence of common sense may cause this island to lose its attraction.…

Rooms are excellent, bed extremely comfortable, and one villa has the double bed and another room with 2 single beds. Service is extremely carefull and very very nice. And the best here is the food!! The chef is amazing and from breakfast to dinner all the places are simply 5 start… You have in this beach several PADI schools to dive and also you have organized snorkeling trips.

We joined our adult son and his friend at BuBu Villas for five days, and had a wonderful time. The villas were quite well laid out with plenty of spots to relax in the sun or the shade with glorious views of Long Beach and beyond. We dived for the first time for many years and the dive shop was right next door. Staff were friendly from initial greetings from Thana and Carla at reception. Special mention of special and friendly attention we got from Ray and Nasir at meal times and drinks, and Chef Tareq, particularly at breakfast. Great selection of well made cocktails at sundown on the beach deck chairs (first complementary with canapes). I think our villa was a larger one than normal, very spacious with lovely external bathroom which was quirky but worked well. Large comfortable bed with ample fluffy pillows and what seemed to be all new linen. Make sure you let them know which boat you are arriving on, as it is a fair distance from the jetty. They will then arrange transfers to villas. All staff were responsive and flexible. It was a bit quiet when we arrived, but we loved it that way. Very happy and enjoyable few days. Thanks guys.…

Perfect holiday at Bubu Villa for family with young children like ours. All staff were very helpful, friendly and charmed our kids. Special thanks to Italian Chef Angelo who always dish up the best food for us and the kids. We tried most things on the menu and everything was made to perfection. His spaghetti bolognaise is legendary with the kids and our kids eat them almost everyday. So that says a lot! . The local chef who made the Malaysian n Thai dishes were very good as well, not the watered down version you would sometime expect at holiday resorts like these. Thana, Mike and Jack and other staffs were fabulous always and always there to make sure everything was good and very helpful in organising trips, giving alternative suggestions etc for us. The aromatheraphy massage by Thai lady Bern was sublime, one of the best I had experienced. Overall a 5 star experience one would expect from a boutique holiday resort. …
