Firstly my apologies for the very late review guys - I have been meaning to write this review but the daily grind of work meant that I kept putting it off. Fuze Ecoteer planned and organised our two week holiday in Malaysia in May this year - 2016. Our group is rather "unique" in the sense that it was made up of a total of 21 adults - made up of 11 Support Staff and 10 adults affected by Autism - some with quite complex behaviours. We live and are based in the United Kingdom with little local knowledge of Malaysia. Our brief to Pavin & Dan from Fuze Ecoteer was to find us a safe tropical island location with fabulous food and activities so that we could holiday and have fun. The Fuze Ecoteer guys did an absolutely astounding job - they had great empathy for our "disabled" guests and treated all of us with utmost respect. Although our time with the Fuze Ecoteer "family" - Pavin, Dan, Nody, Jordan, Sheryn and Jay - was only for two weeks - we continue to keep in contact and all of us in the UK keep talking about our time together in the Perhentian Islands and Kuala Lumpur. The chaps organised some wonderful activities - deep sea fishing, jungle trekking, snorkelling, experiencing local culture and meet members of the Perhentian Island Ladies Association to teach us how to make fabulous local doughnuts and of course picnics on some of the most serene, clean and isolated beaches with crystal clear warm waters in the Perhentians !!!! Fishing out in the sea is not something that is within the realms of possibility of your average "Autistic" person but the Fuze Ecoteer guys made this possible for our guys and we caught some amazing Mahi Mahi which they then organised to have cooked for us that evening!!!!! The picnics were wonderful not just for the fabulous beaches but also the wonderful 5* packed lunch cooked by Kak Ani and family - I have sworn to return to Perhentian if only to taste her amazing Malaysian food !!!! To cap it all, the Fuze Ecoteer staff entertained us day and night - and very late into the night on most nights - to ensure that our stay in the Perhentians was a memorable one. We are all back in the U.K now and have not stopped talking about our stay with the Fuze Ecoteer family - it will always be unforgetful and Jordan even did a very professional video for us to cherish forever - I would not hesitate for one moment to recommend the Fuze Ecoteer guys to organise your holiday in Malaysia - thanks for the wonderful and very special memories guys and keep up the great job - Ed and friends !!!

An amazing two weeks spent with amazing people! Definitely would have regretted staying for less, and if I didn't have to return home for work and university I would have stayed a lot longer! Although the amenities are a bit basic (cold showers, wooden house with gaps everywhere for the creepy crawlies to come in - ahh!), I felt very safe and it was well worth it for the experience. As long as you're prepared to get into the activities and don't mind some hands on action then you will love this. Activities are well thought out, prepared and the staff are always checking that you are happy and having fun. I love knowing that I was part of something bigger, if only for a short time, because the difference Fuze Ecoteer is making in this community is truly tremendous! I would love to come back in a few years and see what it will have become.

An excellent week spent at Ecoteer and could have easily spent a few months there. Whether it was painting, snorkelling, beach clean ups, Malay dinners or teaching....the whole experience as extremely well organised from the moment I got there until I left. The staff were absolutely fantastic and the accommodation was basic, clean and safe. I thoroughly enjoyed the village. The locals in the village are incredible and the views, marine life and beaches at the best I've seen in South East Asia. Ecoteer is exactly what it says on the tin. I met some exceptional staff and I'd do it all again if I could.

I don't know why I haven't yet written a review for the Fuze Ecoteer Community House Project. I first saw the project in August of 2014. I remember the clear blue waters as I got off the jetty. It was like a swimming pool. I wanted yo jump in immediately. The Ecoteer staff was there to meet me at the jetty. They were so helpful and welcoming. Within minutes I felt like they wanted me there. Everybody was so nice. We walked through the village and the people. Oh my gosh, the people. They were all so welcoming and the kids knew the names of all the staff that were there to welcome us. I really got the idea that this was a place with a staff that made an immediate positive impact on the community. Very different. Very cool. And definitely something that I wanted to be a part of. Throughout the week, they began to solidify my belief in what they were doing. We spent our days teaching conservation to the local kids and surrounding guests. We didn't directly affect the immediate environment, but worked with the local community of future generations AND were making so much of a sustainable impact. This is not to say that I didn't get to swim with turtles, sharks, octopus, rays, eels, cuttlefish, potato grouper or the very popular anemone fish. It was such a refreshing experience and I feel very fortunate that I was able to find such a project. (the experience actually changed my life).

Teaching, eco-snorkeling, beach cleans, Malay dinners, kuih sessions, painting, gardening and so much more... Volunteering at this project gives you a total view of island life, while making a small difference. And if you don't make a difference on the island itself, it's you as a person that changes. I don't think I've ever stayed in a village that is more welcoming than Kampung Pulau Perhentian. And that's exactly the reason why I decided to come back for a couple of months in 2015, after volunteering here for just two weeks in 2014. How great was it to have neighbours sending over the most delicious meals through our window; to save marine life while picking up so many pieces of rubbish; to run camps; to guide school groups; and to inspire travellers to care just a little bit more about the crazy world we live in. On top of that I was blessed to meet heaps of people that inspired me and taught me lots of different things. It the place to be with like-minded people... A big hug to everyone I met during my stay!

My time with Ecoteer Community house was the highlight of my trip to Malaysia. The landscape of the Perhentian Islands is stunning enough to justify any length of visit to the islands. That being said, it was the activities and the friendships enjoyed at the Ecoteer House that made my stay incredibly special. This is not your average tourist stay neither is this a luxury resort. I would argue it was a more personal and reflective time than that. A huge part of the project is to interact and make significant relationships with the residents of the village. I was there over Hari Raya Puasa, the feast at the end of Ramadan. This gave me a new cultural understanding of the Islamic faith and it was wonderful to be welcomed in by the villagers. I also had the opportunity to learn more about marine conservation and sustainable traveling which I had a very limited knowledge of before. Some of my favorite memories was being working alongside the Turtle project and helping with Kids clubs. Best of all the team of interns at the Ecoteer Community House are wonderfully supportive, fun and chilled. You will learn a lot from the beautiful environment you are in and the variation of people you meet volunteering with Ecoteer! I was there for just a week but would recommend that those who are interested stay for longer so they don't regret leaving early.

Would recommend this to anyone looking to stay on these beautiful islands. Volunteering here involves helping out at school clubs with the kids, beach clean ups and awareness campaigns and English clubs with the local women. It is truly an incredible experience to work with the local people within their community - they were so kind and welcoming to us volunteers. Doing the ecoteer project allows an insight into this island culture as the amazing ecoteer team have forged real connections here. I had an amazing time in the village - a great mix of volunteering as well as plenty of free time for snorkeling and just hanging out on the porch with the local children. A once in a lifetime experience!!!

If you're keen to get involved with village life, then this is a fantastic volunteer opportunity. You're able to participate in lesson planning, delivering lessons, cooking classes and going to Malay dinners. We volunteered with our two kids and the staff were fantastic at adjusting the program slightly so that we could participate in everything. Don't come for five star, luxury digs, but if you're keen to have an amazing experience and meet like minded people then this is a must.

We had a great time at the perhentian islands! And were very sad to leave after two weeks. The people from the island are amazing, so friendly and the children are so engaged in learning from the volunteers. The programme is so diverse from mural painting to snorkel trips, teaching Eco tourism and gardening. As well as educating the village people and sharing your skills to improve lives, and also educate yourself in various fun lessons such as making donuts (an eating them) with the PiLA ladies and becoming involved in there lives. The island is beautiful; so after teaching children who almost become friends, everybody can go together to the jetty to make the famous 'jetty jump'. Volunteering at the perhentian islands really was a special experience. To bond with the local people, having dinner in family homes and to share education about cultures and the environment. You become enriched. As well as the island people we made very good friends with the staff and other volunteers and enjoyed havin BBQs at the beach on an evening. The perhentian village really was a wonderful experience and we hope to return !

I volunteered on the perhentian islands for one week and really enjoyed my time there! All of the staff and interns were very friendly and helpful and I felt at home in the village in no time! Some of the activities I took part in were house painting, english classes (for both children and adults), ecoteer club (a conservation class at the local school), beach clean ups, awareness campaign and composting in the village. I really liked the variety that this program offers, as in one week I was able to experience both conservation and community work. Classes and clubs at the school were quite chaotic, but also good fun! It is a great way to immerse yourself in village life and Malay culture as we had dinner twice with local families at their homes and the kids are always playing at the ecoteer house. Accomodation is basic but clean (a lot better than places I have stayed whilst backpacking). Overall, I think this is a very worthwhile experience. It gave me meaning to my travel as well as making me feel like I was doing something to combat the waste and environmental problems in Malaysia which I constantly moan about!
