I’d absolutely recommend Ombak to travelling divers. The layout is great and affords maximum enjoyment with minimum effort. Dive boats are right out front on the beach, the open air bar / restaurant fronts onto the sand, behind the bar is the dive centre and behind the dive centre is the accommodation. Ombak Divers is a slick outfit. I’ve dived around the world and rarely come across a better operation. The team are highly capable but super friendly, the kit is good, there are numbered crates for your gear, and specific wash tanks for various bits of equipment. The diving is good too, It’s not deep but the coral and wildlife is healthy, plentiful and varied. I saw stuff here that I hadn’t seen elsewhere. The location of Ombak Dive Chalet is right on Coral Beach which has bars and restaurants, but is quieter than nearby Long Beach. The food at Ombak is good. They serve alcohol and they also have an on-site bakery which is ideal for an apres-dive snack. The accommodation is posh by local standards / basic by international standards, but it’s perfectly comfortable and gives you everything you need. Rooms have a good bed, air-conditioning, a room safe and an ensuite bathroom with electric shower and western toilet. My daily routine started with a one minute walk from my room to breakfast. After breakfast, a 30-second walk brought me to the dive centre. After kitting up, it was a one-minute walk to the dive boat for the morning’s two tank dive. We’d arrive back at Ombak around 12.30pm in time for lunch. The afternoon dive was at 3pm and some nights there was an optional night dive at 7pm. In between all that it was easy to grab a shower, a snack, or at the end of the day, a cold beer in the open air bar. Hard to beat.

We stayed here for 5 nights and had a good time. The food was ok a little over priced for what we got as the pizza dough wasn’t cooked through. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The accommodation was small but the beds were comfy and had mosquito nets. The shower was a disaster and the WiFi was weak. It’s good if you just want to go and sit by the beach as it’s conveniently located by the pier where the boat drops you off.

This is a lovely place to stay right on the beach with good food, service and nice rooms. The diving experience was also great. BUT, and his is very important, DO NOT book the "snorkelling package" advertised on their website unless you want to throw money away. Everything you get in the deal can be booked or ordered seperately and this will only cost about half the cost of the package! I was so shocked to see how cheap things were on their own and felt ripped off.

i spent 3d2n at ombak resort (coral bay, perhentian island). the moment you enter ombak, everything is so pleasing, the ambiance, the location etc. its located on coral bay, in front of where SPEED BOAT drops you. a very good brick path which passes through OMBAK resort leads you to Long beach (10 min maximum). the best thing about OMBAK resort is its clean accomodation specially VERY CLEAN BATHROOMS. although MOHSIN CHALET on long beach is cheaper interms of ROOM RATE but its rooms are very basic and Bathrooms in miserable condition.

I really whites my stay at Ombak. The rooms are small and basic, but clean with air conditioning. For a few nights on a tropical island you can't fault it. The restaurant attached has amazing food for really good prices and a lovely atmosphere in the evening. The diving school was also excellent. I can't wait till my next trip and will definitely be staying here again and recommending it to family and friends.

2016 marked my 5th year on Perhentian Kecil and on average I visit the island 3 times a year but this year is my first time staying at Ombak Resort and I am very impressed. Good food. Friendly staffs. Awesome owners. Comfortable stay. Last but not least, AMAZING DIVES with Ombak Divers. Did my Advanced Open Water course here with Matthew, very professional and experienced Instructor! Can't wait to be there again :)

After arriving on the Island at the start of super peak season, this place was the only thing with available beds in their 8 bed dorm. So for 40 rm per person per night I expected a bit more for what we got. The rooms were cleaned a few times a day which was good however they didn't clean to good. Their were some sticky spots next to my bed and even though they mobbed it 6 times, it was still there and attracted a whoe bunch of ants. Also a spot at the lockers had a lot of ants on them. The fans worked fine, power goes of sometimes for a minute or so, nothing to worry about. Pro's: Lockers, enough for everyone and I even had two. Beds were clean and been asked once if they needed to change the sheets within the three days I was there. Nice and quiet part of the island Conns: Can''t lock the door Not clean enough Lot's of mozzies and been bitten a lot. Perhaps a mozzie net would be nice! The showers aren't great and often full with sand. I cleaned them often myself before I went to toilet or shower. No toilet paper! Bring your own!

Besides being clean there is no other positive comment for this accommodation. The breakfast is serve cold and late after 8:30, coffee was diluted and no cold milk for cereal. WiFi only available in restaurant and it was not working. No room service, towels not changed for 5days. Service was slow. Best to explore another possible options.

hello everyone...last minute booking over the internet noted every resort in the island booked. from the review of other visitor,it convince me to book this hotel. I stayed here with 2 other friend in triple room with breakfirst forn 3 days and 2 nights Location, its located at coral beach. The crystal clear blue water with dead coral seen upon arrival at the jetty. The view is magnificient. The resort located near the jetty. However, the famous long beach is on the other side of the island. You have to walk up and down a hill behind the resort to get to long beach about 10 minute. Quite a hike for me but all and all good for health. There is proper pathway built for the visitor to get to long beach. Room, basic but very tidy and comfortable. Hot water and aircondition functioning well. Water run at good pressure. i have no complain. Find a running water tap to wash your feet before you get into your room to avoid your room full with sand from the beach. Ombak cafe. The daily breakfirst is basic. You have limited breakfirst menu from bread , cereals, waffel, pancake, hot d0g, fired mee and fried rice. Cordeal juice, tea and coffee. For me its fairly acceptable to prepare myself for the day. As for the dinner you can enjoy your dinner with movie started at 7.30pm. Completed my dinner with sisha session till the cafe closed at 1030pm. Dinner fairly good, waiter helpful and friendly, im satisfied. However the wifi is quite slow. The other night we had dinner at ewans place(located behind Ombak chalet on the way to long beach). the food is delicious but the a bit pricey. The squid soup is fresh and to die for. I booked my snorkeling trp with a malay boy (syafiq),hes base beside a restaurant near the Ombak entrance. I choosed to go to the Rawa, Susu Dara, Serenggeh, Turtle point, Light house and ended it with lunch at Fishing Village. It cost us 70 ringgit per person. Worth iT.i just hope that this industry wont cause much damage to the Ocean Garden as i can see there are lots of dead coral maybe cause by the tourist boat or by the visitor. Dear human please keep this treasure. one more thing, if possible booked a room far from the generator. The long beach is more happening than coral beach with the loud music and fire performance, sisha till late night. If you not wish to go for 10 minute hike than booked a stay at long beach. You can always pay for water taxi if u dont want to walk.

We gave up on Perhentian after three nights due to the extremely low quality of accommodation, the lack of availability or ability to book anything without just turning up on spec on the day and seeing if someone had left and the rain which poured for four days solid in the dry season. It was a relief to secure one night here in a non aircon room for RM150 a night. It's a real hotel. Nice rooms. Tiled bathroom with hot electric shower. Clean mosquito nets. Towels provided. Buffet breakfast for two included in the rate. Most of the accommodation here is a real dump or an unbelievable ripoff (and I'm happy to pay for the Andaman or The Westin in Langkawi but not pay for what you get here). Ombak felt like the right quality at the right price. Thank you.
