Detailed Reviews
D'Lagoon is situated in Perhentian Kecil. This place is certainly backpacker-style and basic.
The place is perfect for snorkeling and diving. Many beautiful corals but please be careful as there are many sharp rocks and corals.
The food is good - reasonable and in good proportions.
Being a backpacker's haven, you pretty much have a bed, pillow, sheets, blanket and a towel. The best is bring your own toiletries. You may asked the chalet for a small soap.
Toilets are not the best, lots of stain but functional.
There a few animals around like huge monitor lizard, squirrels up and down on the coconut tree, eating the coconut and cats. They feed all these animals and these animals are pretty friendly (meaning you may take their picture closely)
From D'Lagoon you may do the jungle trekking to the Turtle Beach, Adam & Eve Beach & Wind Mill and Long Beach. It takes about 45 mins to the Wind Mill and Long Beach... from the Long Beach you may take the water taxi appx RM 10 per person to go back to D'Lagoon chalet.
Those who loves peaceful and quiet place and don't mind to stay at basic type of chalet..D'Lagoon would be nice to stay.

My friend and I stayed here for 3 nights. We booked it by sending a whatsapp. We had a basic room, bed was comfy and a fan, no airco but it was ok. The staff was very friendly they helped us with everything. The diving centre was awesome we ended up doing 2 dived because we loved it so much. The place is desolated, but if you want quiet and peace this is the place for you. You can easily take a watzr taxi to go to the main beach. The food was good and not expensive they worl with a notepad for all te orders. For western food we had to wait some time and the portions were small. The bathroom was something we didnt like. No normal toilet and hygiene not very good.

Wow! Beautiful place where you can rest and enjoy the outstanding nature. The whole resort looks like a fairy tale location. Food is good and the staff is more than friendly.
BUT, the bungalows need a serious renovation... the interior (bed + bathroom) is way too basic and the fans need to be replaced by new ones.

The best place on our trip to Malaysia. It's a true little paradise. You have a amazing beach and corals in front of the accommodation and 10 min walk from the accommodation are there picture perfect tropical beaches whith equally amazing coral. And even better there is nobody there!! Furthermore the food is quite cheap en delicious! The only negative is that there are no other places to eat. But that's partly good because that's why it's so secluded. Also don't expect luxury resort style rooms. The rooms are it's just what you need. Tip maby bring a mosquitoes net whith you if you are afraid of creepy crawlies.

Amazing underwater experience I had with friends at DLagoon. Art the Dive Instructor is also professional underwater photographer, and videographer. He knows the ins and outs of dive sites around perhentian island.
As for the accommodation, it is basic, with clean bedsheet and thick mattress. Mosquito is there, so be prepared with sprays. Water supply is not problem.
Restaurant provide quite variety of meal to choose from and reasonably priced.
Overall, awesome experience and awesome place.

We spent 6 days there and it was one of the best holidays I’ve ever had.
The rooms are basic and the shared bathroom facilities could be improved! But nevertheless I would recommend to stay here to everyone looking for a perfect relaxed beach holiday. You can walk to Adam&Eve beach as well as to turtle beach. Those are by far the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen. And very well for snorkeling as well as diving
I will come again!

Horror show in brief:
- The owner threatened us - he said "I am going to kill you", "I am going to get my gun ready" several times, because of disagreement with the bill. It even escalated with plenty of crying and screaming, that I had to call the police - but do not expect any help from the Malaysian police. Do never pay in advance at that place! Do never try to argue with the owner - he is very disrespectful and willing to use violence.
- There are huge spiders everywhere in the room, it's generally very basic
- 4 of 6 travellers our of our group got heavily stomach/gastric sick from the food (We only ate there, as there was no other possibility
The only good things:
- Corals are still pretty nice for a house reef
- The ladies working in this place were very friendly

A friend and i were backpacking around Malaysia in August 2015. Was so excited to see the Perhentian islands and we wanted to stay away from busy areas so we thought D'lagoon would be a perfect secluded experience. Wrong. It was terrible from check in. The staff are extremely rude and lack basic people skills & customer service. We felt they looked down on us because they thought we were locals, we were ignored from the beginning.
So i rang them before arrival, about 30mins before we got there and asked if there are chalets available and she said yes. The only reason we did this was because D'lagoon is harder to access than Long Beach and we didn't wanna get there and have no accommodation then get back on a boat. Anyway we arrived and I had told her my name and that i had called and NONE of the staff remembered. They said i never called them and there are no chalets available and the only one available is conveniently the most expensive one!
It was a hole! No electricity and we asked a few times for someone to come and have a look and noone did. We were backpacking and didn't mind the basic rooms but this was just horrible. The owner was so rude and threatening we felt like we had to behave like children and not complain or ask for anything because he was hostile. Whenever we asked one of the staff for help they would just say "I DONT KNOW" or point to their boss like they were afraid to say something to us. The lady with her otter is rude and sarcastic. She even said she thought we were Malay (we are from NZ) so that confirmed why she never treated us like other paying customers. The food was average but took over an hour even if the restaurant was empty. The beach is dirty and not that great.
The owner kept saying Long Beach was dirty and tried to dissuade us from going there but i am so glad we only stayed one night at D'lagoon. Long Beach was heavenly compared to this hole. When we asked the boat person if he could take us to Long Beach he would tell us to ask his boss (but still continue to take other tourists there) We are low maintenance travellers and don't expect to be treated with luxury but this is by far the worst place i have ever stayed in.
The next day we left for Long Beach and came across a place called "Symphony" and stayed there a few days. We shared a two bed hut, and even though it was a communal bathroom and toilet it was so much better than the hole that is D'lagoon. Staff were very accommodating, warm and friendly and the most clearest waters are just at the doorstep. Highly recommend Symphony for Perhentian travellers looking for relaxation.

I had possibly the worst nights sleep of my life at D'lagoon. My partner and I had booked a weeks stay from ourselves at D'lagoon. on the website everything looked great, lovely little hotel in a cove away from the world - perfect! oh how we were so wrong. Due to the amount of litter on the beach (bearing in mind it was a small beach which wouldn't take long at all to clean everyday) there were 1000's of bugs big and small. so sunbathing was a big NO NO.
When we did brave it into the sea, the sharp stones/objects at the shore line a about 10 metres out would cut our feet up pretty badly, they were raw abnd we had to swim as far as we could back up to the shore and pull ourselves by our hands whilst floating in order to avoid all the sharp stones/litter/objects. The absolute worst part of the experience were what must've been the bed bugs. I was up all night and did not get a wink of sleep. No air-con but a flimsy half working fan. I woke up absolute covered in bites whether it be mosquitos etc from all the litter on the beach or bed bugs. I feel it was most likely to be bedbugs due to having bites all over my body from my toes to my forehead! I have attached a photograph of the bits on my leg and it seriously doesn't show how bad they were all over my body. Naturally that morning we left this hideous 'hotel' and booked ourselves in the beautiful Bubbles Dive resort which is an absolute polar opposite to D'lagoon in everyway.

I arrived to the area at 10:30 and ask for a room. They told me that they cannot show me the rooms until 12:30, but that both options (room and dormitory) were available. When the time comes, they showed me just the room, giving me a higher price and saying that the dormitory was now full ( when nobody else arrived to the beach in the 2 hours I waited there). When I told him he was trying to cheat on me, he started screaming in the middle of the cafe.
So I decided to go to the big beach on the island. When I approached the boat driver, he said that the owner told him not to drive me anywhere, so my only option was to walk until the other beach. It was a more than an hour walk, with the backpack. Also, when I wanted to buy water ( you know, 1pm in Malaysia is quite hot, and evenmore when you plan to walk for more than an hour) and he refuses to sell me water.
I arrived almost 2 hours later to the other beach, and found a place called Ohlala, where I could finally have a bottle of water and rest. I might say that after this I slept 12 hours.
I didn t read the rest of comments, but if I were you, I will not like to stay in a place where they treat people like this.

1 Hour by the jungle.
Few beaches around them. Varying from 5-15 min walk. To get to the other side I would suggest a boat taxi rather then walking, crazy cheap!
