Welcome to The Maya Resort. Beautiful central location on Coral Bay, the 'Sunset side' of Perhentian Kecil. Four beach-front rooms, plus eight rooms fringing tranquil, half acre garden. All en-suite and fan cooled. 'Nightlife' of Long Beach just 10 minutes walk away.
Nearby restaurants serving fresh BBQ fish plus local / western dishes. Adjacent Dive resorts with full range of PADI courses. Or there's snorkeling, boat trips, volleyball, jungle walks, reading, sunbathing...zzzz!

We booked online via an agency and had no issues arriving - beautiful setting, location and friendly staff/owners! We got a beach front bungalow and it was great, beautiful views but budget (be prepared for no air con, no electricity between 7am-7pm, etc) - our first night was great! Fast forward to day 2 - we came back from having food in the evening and I could hear a rustling in one of my bags. It turns out a HUGE cockroach was in there. After moving around a few things, it wasn’t one cockroach we were dealing with but at least 15!!! Some huge, some small. They were in our rucksacks, our clothes, toiletries bags and even all over our bed. It was disgusting. I went outside to find someone to help however no one was there. We couldn’t sleep in the room so at midnight my boyfriend found us a place to stay elsewhere on the island. This accommodation is great for location - beautiful beach, next to the dive centre, near food outlets, great for the sunsets. However, be prepared for the infestation of cockroaches and mosquitoes. I would not and could not stay here again. Such a shame.…

Compared to other properties on Kecil, Maya is the cheapest for a room with fan and private bathroom with a little porch. There is also a common are in the middle of the garden with hammocks to chill in. Price per night is around 60RM, most other accommodation was 100RM plus unless you want to go for a tent. The hosts are very accommodating. Gave us free tea and biscuits when it was raining and also coconut water one day when it was very hot. They're also very happy to answer questions and help you plan your onward trip. Beds were comfortable and mosquito net was great. Would recommend anyone who is on a budget to stay here.

I stayed in Maya for 8 nights. they got very good price for the room, and great location like in the middle of coral beach, especially if you stay in beach view room. TBH, you have to be prepared for the condition of the room, it's not luxury at all, but I can tell the owner and staff are all try to make your stay as comfortable as possible. I came to the island for diving, and its really close to the dive shop and boat. I really enjoyed my staying with Maya!

The guys at Maya made our stay on the Island our favorite destination! We rocked up with nowhere to stay, they let us hang our hammocks in their property, use their bathrooms, kept our bags safe and constantly offered food, coconuts and helped us plan the next leg of our journey with so much local knowledge! We turned up planning to stay for 2 days and stayed for 6! Zanny, Yi and Joe made our trip the best possible. The friends you meet staying there too and such adventurous and fun people. Highly recommend for budget travelers.

I don’t consider it the best in the world. Still I have a good night rest and able to wash myself in a shower. If you need a place for short stays and near the beach and dive center, this is one of the nearest place and it is also nearby the food stalls.

We visited this place again during Ramadan season to book a room... but unfortunately there was no one around Maya Guesthouse to show us about. So we just had a peak into the rooms and it look like not much has been done since we last visited the place in 2013! It is sad to see this once a paradise place falling apart!

Please do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. It is very old, nothing works, mosquito infested, yucky pillows and mattress. It is just disgusting. We got the beach front bungalow and the only nice thing about it is the view.

We stayed for 4 nights at Maya in a basic double room with a fan and private bathroom. The accomodation is 'beach shack' style and only metres from the beach. The facilities are very basic (especially the bathroom) and the electricity is switched off between 8am and 7pm but its fine for backpackers who aren't too fussy. At 50R per night it was excellent value for money. They also run a snorkeling trip daily which was the best snorkeling I've seen (turtles, sharks etc) and great value at 25R for a trip to 5 spots. They have a central shared shaded hammock area if you want to lie and read a book or socialise in the afternoon. There is no WIFI at Maya but many local cafes have it. Maya is on Coral bay which is the quieter side of the island and next door to antigravity dive centre who run fun dives twice daily. It is a 10 minute walk across the island to the busier Long Beach where most of the restaurants and bars are.…

We stayed the night in a tent, because the double room seems to be to expensive for its standard. We got a mattresse without sheets and a one-person tent, which was really small for two small persons. So many mozzies and it was so hot. We just had the chance to sleep 2-3 hours, because outside was a party..
