Cons- 1.Hotel’s cafe - Cafe food is a bit expensive compared to the restaurants at long beach. We took their meals package and they Provided ala carte menu due to less than 15 customers. Their ala carte menu are repeatable for lunch and dinner for both days. Not much choices as well. 2. The complimentary drinks are same with the ala carte menu. 3.Electricity - still using generators. Cut off time are 10am, 4pm and 8pm. 4.Room - We booked two rooms and both rooms are superb nearby to the generators. Noisy and there are ants in the room. 5. No towel and mineral provided during snorkelling. 6.Wifi connection is pretty poor. The line was bad especially in the room. The wifi was faster at the cafe Pros- 1. Nearby jetty 2. Receptionists were friendly and well versed in English but keep MIA😅 3. Recommended Snorkelling trip with Zul and Shafiq. Humour and nice. It was fun with the 5 points expenditure. Able to see sharks, turtles and nemo. 4. Less than 10mins walk to long beach

Room average, not much facilities, good and friendly reception but the ombak cafe is terrible. The staff attitude is terrible and rude. Don’t take the package basically it is not buffet (multiple choice), it just simple rice, chicken, Vege and eggs n most important, make sure u go early, else u will need to eat those left over. If u ask any refill, they will just walk away like non of their business, n when u try to to order ala carte menu, they will tell u they r very busy and everything also don’t have. Burger out of stock, pizza out of stock.. When u continue follow up then what am I suppose to eat, they will just fried a noodles and tell u.. go n eat the refill with the sarcastic face and keep nagging behind (hey, I understand ur language between). Seriously? That’s the attitude? Maybe u r the only proper cafe on the beach but we pay for the foods not ask for free. Hope u improve ur service. Just go if u love to starve urself and enjoy the bad attitude cafe staff in Ombak. Worst island trip ever in my life. 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼

We are a big group of 35 divers who came for various level of OW certifications (fr beginner to DM certifications). Many of us had high expectations after reading the many raving reviews online. Unfortunately, we were disappointed from the moment that we arrived. We had expected breakfast upon check-in but was told that they had not prepared any as they did not receive any “confirmation”. Our organizer had asked if the resort can prepare complimentary breakfast (as part of our package deal) for us upon arrival as we had taken a 12 hour journey to the island without any meal stops. The resort had replied that they could, so our organizer had assumed that breakfast will be included. However the resort staff told us that as they did not receive an “affirmative” reply saying that we wanted the breakfast, they did not prepare any for us. If we insist on having the breakfast, it would be an additional charge of RM15 (discounted from RM20) for each pax. We continued to be disappointed at ALL meal times. No fruits was served at all in the 4D3N that we were there. Some meals - not even vegetables are served. There are limited choices and it is always insufficient food for our group. For eg, breakfast is from 730am – 1030am. But if you were to arrive at 930pm, there would be nothing available anymore except white bread and butter & jam. Very often finished food are not replenished. When one of our group asked why aren’t there more food as it was not enough, one of the staff replied curtly, “you boleh order” (meaning, you can order and pay extra). At one dinner, we were told that we are only allowed to take ONE fried egg per person as they do not have enough. All of us had signed up for 2-3 dives per day. However, no snacks or drinks were offered during surface interval. You will need to pay for additional for snacks/ hot drinks. Our major disappointment and shock was the departure day’s lunch pack. We had ordered a lunch box each for our consumption in the bus on our journey home. The lunch box cost RM20 each. Guess what is inside? It is only plain fried rice with some frozen vege bits, a few broken pieces of soggy fish keropok and some sambal. I did not even get a single anchovy in the sambal. Take a look at the pic to see the lunch box. There are many dive resorts in Perhentian. We will definitely not be coming back to this one. The silver lining in the trip was that the dive staff were helpful, and friendly with well-maintained rental dive equipment. I would have given this resort a ONE star only. The additional star is for the dive staff.

The room was generally clean, with all the basic amenities given. The TV in the rooms came with USB and some movies which we quite enjoyed after our dinner and hanging out in our rooms. While there's wifi, it keeps on dropping and we can barely go online. Also, the electricity might trip few times a day, but it was usually restored almost immediately. But this can be an annoying thing if you are in shower, watching TV or losing out on your aircond during the night. Rooms came with free breakfast, nothing fancy but it was sufficient for us.

Perhentian is a getaway in the truest sense. It is sanctuary to de-stress, detoxify yourself from the urban jungle. It is a delight to see staff hold credit card machines up in the air, hoping to catch the weak network signals just to process a transaction! This resort is that remote! The resort is located right at the beach. During high tides the entrance can get blocked by the sea-water. The one-hour ferry from the mainland drops you close to their entry gates. They have a world class diving center and their professional guides helped me in my first Padi dive. The resort is large with rooms spread across two floors. The rooms are clean spacious; some have ACs while all have fans. Due to frequent power outages, the Air cons might not work. The bathroom is large but basic- there is no separation between the shower and basin area. The staff was very friendly helpful and host a good restaurant serving breakfast and all-day dining. I would certainly come back to this resort when I can. Do not expect anything fancy here, this island is meant to make you relax and connect with nature. If you wish for more luxury you Can opt for resorts in the neighboring large island. The pictures do not do justice but it should help get an insight into this beautiful island and the resort.

Room: Comfy Atmosphere: Peaceful and friendly Service: Excellent - we met the owners who were incredibly friendly and hospitable. Food: Mixture of asian and western food. Awesome breads & pastries!! Snorkling trip: Fantastic. They even provided a picnic basket for lunch so we just stayed out the whole time. Went to around 8 different snorkle areas with an insightful guide.

I was sitted at the outdoor area and had an extremely rude service by the name of Kamal who didn't want to clean the table and place cutleries. He even ask me to sit in the indoor because he acknowledged that they do not clean the outdoor tables. Even said that foreigners are not complaining as much as I do and this is the first time seeing a local complaining. Zero ratings.

Been waiting over an hour for the breakfast which consisted of drinks and two mueslis with fruits. Five waiters were standing around all the time not serving us or bringing any food. After 1.15 h only one muesli came and the management gave only impertinent answers without any excuses. Don't visit this place if you want to enjoy your vacation!

The place is good. They have movie-nights every night which is very nice, and the food was surprisingly good even though I would not pay for the breakfast which was quite bad. The diesel generators running parts of the nights can be quite disturbing but that’s probably the same for every part of the island. Staff was okay but not more helpful than they had to be.
