Alunan Resort is the only contemporary resort on Pulau Perhentian Kecil, Malaysia with 18 spacious, double-story suites furnished with modern architecture. Covered in floor-to-ceiling glass panels designed to capture majestic views of the ocean and rain forest, each suite opens up to a private rooftop sun deck on the top floor where a hammock and sun loungers awaits. Due to the design of our resort which is built on a hill, there are many steps and stairs to consider. We apologize that we are not able to provide wheelchair access and our resort may not be suitable for senior citizens and children under the age of 12.

I was there for my annual beach trip with 2 of my girlfriends. We really had an amazing time here. We enjoyed our stay very much where everything we needed for a beach holiday was found in one place. The resort staffs were so friendly, helpful and polite. We felt so welcomed and pleasant from the beginning till the end of our trip. Well-deserved recognition for providing the best in class hospitality. We are very happy with our room too, clean and well kept. We also enjoyed the upper deck that each room has. It provides a very nice place to chill at night. There are also lots of activities such as snorkelling, kayaking, paddle boarding, sailing, coral planting, etc. The surprising part was they had a spa and massage parlour too. Hence, a one-stop centre for a complete beach holiday experience. Overall, we are really happy and satisfied with this resort and will definitely return.

I chose this resort for a romantic getaway because of its focus on sustainability and purpose to give back. Not only is the resort leading the way for guest experience, it has a coral regeneration programme whereby guests can adopt corals that will be re-grown in the resort's coral nursery. Nestled in the tropical paradise of the Perhentian Islands this property goes above and beyond to guarantee guest's comfort. The rooms are delightful with nice touches such as complimentary organic aloe vera, insect repellant and hand sanitiser. The restaurant serves amazing breakfasts, snacks, lunches and dinners with staff who really care about customer service. I was so impressed with our waiter JC and his professional approach to service and knowledge. Thank you for making our dining experiences so memorable. The resorts focus on sustainability really impressed me. We were given metal water bottles that we were encouraged to refill from the various water stations throughout the resort. The straws are metal and not plastic. Above all else, the resort has dedicated marine biologists on staff who educate guests about the importance of responsible tourism. They are always on hand to inform about their objective to give back more than they take. Guests can adopt corals and see them planted in the resort's coral nursery. I was fortunate to assist the marine biologists on a dive to photograph the corals' progress. This was amazing experience because it gave my whole stay a purpose. Anyone staying here should try to get involved as much as possible. In conclusion, my wife and I will be returning to Alunan on our next trip to Malaysia. Thank you to all the staff that went above and beyond to make our stay memorable.

It’s the best stay if one is looking for a place to relax and rejuvenate from the daily hustle. Went with my sisters for a 4D3N stay. A HIGHLY RECOMMENDED RESORT at Pulau Perhentian!! The (+) points: 1. Clean room and comfortable beds. It’s a well maintained property. It has private rooftop balcony for those who wish to sit and enjoy the view from the comfort of their own room. At the reception area I think I spotted a rack filled with books, but we choose to play the traditional games ie Batu Seremban and Congkak. 2. Foods were awesome!! … I love it that breakfast are served based on choices rather than the usual buffet style. Recommended to try their Nasi Dagang / Nasi Lemak for breakfast, Pastas for lunch, seafood platter or their burgers for dinner. Personally, I would have love to try others on the menu but we were out of slots. 3. Environmental friendly - avoid usage of plastic and instead we were provided with bottles with few water dispensers scattered around the resort. 4. Activities - can either snorkel in front of the resort as they have nursery for corals (you can adopt a coral too). They also have option for kayaking and paddling the surfboard. Sea was calm so we had a wonderful 1 hour tour via kayaking and paddling. Alternatively, they provide packages.. most recommended will be the Best of Perhentian snorkeling (around 3 hours) and Sailing (around 2 hours). Sailing is rather limited due to the weather and availability of the boat, so have to be quick to reserve. Shout out to Dewan, our Snorkeling guide and Sailing Captain for his amazing skill and friendliness. The area also has a good trail for hiking / jungle walk from Alunan to Long Beach. We took 2 hours to reach Long Beach simply because there were mini beaches we couldn’t resist stopping and enjoying the views. There are options for water taxi for a fee to move around the island too. 5. To top all of the above was the superb hospitality from the owner and the team!! Such an AWESOME team. I felt like being really taken care off throughout my stay. It’s for team as them that makes the stay worthwhile and value for the price we paid. The (-) point: 1. The resort is on hill and have lots of stairs to climb. Please call them first and specify if you have knee or back problems so that they could arrange the nearest room for you. 2. It get windy and rains at nights (during our stay), but they do provide umbrellas in the room and at the restaurant.

We had a lovely stay at the Alunan and the main reason was down to the amazing staff and service they have. From the initial booking process to the local office at the jetty, then every member of staff we interacted with could not have been more helpful, friendly and kind. The hotel is a lovely place but what sets it apart is the way in which the staff help you. We went on a snorkelling trip that was precluded with an interesting briefing and advice. It was great to see and learn about the coral conservation project at the resort and be helped to snorkel to see the coral nursery. The room was excellent, the food was good and although it was pricey for our budget, we felt it was money well spent. The location is a little isolated and Perhentian Besar has nicer beaches and snorkelling but we brought our own kayak and also took a water taxi across for the day which was quick and easy. Sadly the property next door were not taking care of their area of the beach which was dirty with rubbish and broken things. It spoiled the beach and went against the conservation messages of the Alunan. What a shame the owners of Villamas property are not considerate of the environment! Thank you to everyone at the Alunan for making our stay so pleasant and comfortable.
