First of all, i am not a fussy and arrogant traveler . I can stay at both backpackers place or expensive ones. I have been in redang for 2 times. But this is the first time i stay in redang beach resort. I rarely have any comments about hotel but this time i have to speak out. First of all, this hotel is very strict and pressuring the customers. Full of briefings and do's and dont's. It makes us very uneasy as we are like bunch of 5 year old kids. Second, Some of the staff are quite rude, i was asking about some easy snorkeling questions and they answer very rudely, they dont even recommend me anything. Third, all the staff not connecting to each other, the first staff told me if you can swim that you can only rent snorkel mask, when i go the counter the second staff force me to rent the life jacket too for the 'rules and regulations when entering the boat'. When i go the snorkeling there are bunch of people who did not bring their lifejacket. Fourth, for the price i pay i get very sad looking hostel like room, still ok for me but it is very small and do not have mineral water (at least) or some coffee, tea, creamer or sugar inside. I have to walk back to the lobby to get fresh clean water to drink. For this price i rather stay at the backpackers resort that i can get much friendlier staff and one chalet with balcony on my own. There are more things that i want to complain but i decided to forget about it and i really hope this resort can improve from time to time. The food is okay, maybe need much more variety of drink. I end up hanging out at other resort's at night and having chit chat with other hotel staff, only come back to redang beach resort to sleep.

Taken 3D2N full board package, with a group of 9.

Free airport transfer. Upon arrival at KT airport, the driver was waiting for us & holding a card with my name on top. Even tough we have informed the staff earlier that we don't need airport transfer. Not sure if there is any miscommunication there.

Ferry experience wasn't good. It's a free seating ferry that carry more than 100 passenger from different resort in Redang. We need to transfer to a smaller boat prior arriving in the island, and there is no pier available for these resort. Be prepared that you will need to walk into some wave water upon arriving in the island.
Luggage handling is very confusing though. The staff just tag our resort's name on the luggage bag, without telling us what to do/ when to collect our bag. When we arrived in the island, some passenger carry their own bag and some just leave it on the boat. The resort staff will then collect all the remaining bags and transfer to the lobby.

Check-in process was simple. Briefing from the resort's staff make us feels like she is giving instructions instead of welcoming us. The room is moderate, come with all basic needs. No TV, no fridge and no wifi (only available at the reception). Cleanliness can be improve, lots of ants in the room.

Meal: Limited choice of buffet menu and the food is average. BBQ dinner is excellent, with a choice of lamb, fishballs, satay, etc. However, the dining area is like a canteen instead of restaurant. You will need to return your used dishes and utensils to a designated area after eating. We don't really expect this kind of service during our vacation.

Staffs from the recreation center is very friendly. However, the snorkeling experience is not really good for non-swimmer like me. The staff is not helping, their duty is just guarding us. Remember to bring waterproof bag, as you will need to walk in the water to get up to the boat. No beach towel provided. Also, they don't provide the service to take underwater photo like Laguna did.

Nightlife in Redang Beach Resort is the best in Redang island! They do have live band and DJ for you to party at night. Plus point: There are a lot of hammocks available around the recreation center.

This is my 2nd visit to Redang island, I was staying with Laguna Redang last year. With the price difference of approx RM100, I would highly recommend you to stay with Laguna Redang. Where they provide better service and hassle-free boat transfer to the island.. and their staff are definitely more friendly and helpful!

Me and my friends decided to stay at Redang Beach Resort because we wanted to give it a try rather than directly go the the famous Laguna where people normally stay at.
Location: It is actually located just right next to Laguna and the Jetty actually arrived right in front of Redang Beach Resort so it is very convenient. Fyi, all the resorts are mostly in front of the sea directly so actually the only difference is just the walking distance

Food: It serves 4 meals a day with buffet style (3 meals + tea time). The food was average but during the BBQ night, the food was awesome. The tea time only serve 2 kind of pastry that we decided to skip it on our second day of stay

Staff: Being a hospitality student, I expect more of the service and staff. However, turns out that the reception staff is not very friendly and show responsiveness. For a simple example, I simply ask for 1 rubber band (getah) because I broke my hairband but the receptionist refused and ask me to buy it at their store instead. I understand that you are trying to sell and maximize profit but all I asked was just a normal rubber band. However, their bar staff are very friendly and the briefing is available in English and Mandarin.

Room: the room is actually not bad. They have all the basic facilities and it was clean. The bathroom was okay, not very narrow. Overall, the room is quite satisfying.

Entertainment: in the night, they have this restaurant and bar with either DJ or Live Band. The DJ was okay, they played recent songs, but the Live Band mostly just sing old Chinese songs so for me and my friends who do not really know and fancy old Chinese songs, it was not very entertaining.

Value: we took the triple room on public holidays for 3D2N package and it costs us RM589 per person, which is slightly cheaper than Laguna (around RM100 only). I believe that all the packages for all the resorts are similar. So the price that includes jetty, meals, and snorkelings are worth it.

Tips: when you're travelling to Redang, try to go to the end of the seaside opposite Laguna, to see baby shark. They're very cute and can be found there within the safe zone. Be careful not to bang into the corals though. Besides, try to ask around or google about "The Blue Tears". It can be found across the bridge next to Laguna.

A lot of words, but hope this review can be helpful. Have a great day ahead and have fun if you're going to Redang!

Resorts are supposed to be fun, right? Redang Beach Resort was more like attending boot camp rather than a relaxing vacation. So much needless frustration caused by an uncaring staff and ridiculous rules that made the experience unsatisfying. Starting with the bus ride from the airport it was just one exercise after another. We had to load our own suitcases on to the bus while the bus crew was smoking and watching us. When we arrived at the Jetty, the bus parked away from their ticket counter, so again, we had to drag our suitcases on muddy and unpaved gravel ground. Once on the island we had to walk through another resort and then on sandy beach to get to the check-in counter on a very hot day. The resort we walked through looked much nicer and had transportation for its guests instead of making us walk. When we checked in, we had to listen to a long list of rules that was spoken so fast it was hard to understand. Of course, our room wasn’t ready yet. The front desk ladies get a D-; they were rude, unfriendly and answered “No” to every request we had. The resort had a vibe of 1970's in the year 2022. The buildings, rooms and facilities need to be renovated and maintained; much of the property is rundown. I regret that I trusted what I saw on their website.. it was misleading. It's my first experience to stay at a beach resort where there is no door between the room and the toilet. Extremely thin walls, I could hear conversation from the next door. It wasn't an ideal place for me to stay for my holiday at all. Useless TV, there were no available stations and no streaming. No wifi that I could find. No coffee. What's the point of having hot water pot if there are no water nor tea or coffee? Safe deposit box wasn't working. How come nobody bothered to check anything before new guests arrive? This resort just doesn’t care about their guests. If you don’t want the cold buffet food, you can go to a separate restaurant but the only thing they serve is fried rice that is overpriced. Nothing else on the menu is available. We had to check out at 9:30 even though our ferry ride back was 11. This is a resort, how about make the guests feel comfortable and valued? Instead, we were treated like cattle. We asked for a bus ride back from the jetty to the airport, but the front desk ladies' answer was "No" right away. She said because we didn't ask earlier. Instead of "No", "Let's see what we can do for you." with a smile would do. we had to obey front desk ladies (sergeants), followed a placard and stand at the jetty until we were called one by one to proceed onto a boat. All in all, this was the worst resort experience I have ever had and have no desire to go back for more boot camp.

This is the worst office staff in the history of resorts. Rude, demanding money without having a way for foreign guests to make a payment beyond going to the bank and depositing money in their account. Slow to respond yet if you don't pay in a flash they cancel your service. Arranging transport through them is a nightmare and incredibly frustrating. We booked a dive trip and forwarded our schedule and no one even bothered to tell us we might not be able to make all our dives because they couldn't accommodate our schedule. Only after asking myself did they suggest making a change. The resort is OK, a little dated but fine. Food is local and good. We were the only westerners and I can see why; this place has no concern for the customer. Pick another resort.

Good Hotel on the beach. But food option is not much. But it was ramadan time, we had to ask for few times for food options. The other facilities like Snorkeling trips are good. We took turtle feeding trip too.

as to be polite i gave one of the beach boy my contact number, because he told me that if they go out for night diving he will call me and invite me to joint them. this sound good. i really thought that all the beach boy at this redang beach hotel are very friendly and nice. once i joint them for the night diving, only then i know. few of them just keep trying to touch places where they not suppose to. by accident they will try to hug me and grab me while diving. make me very uncomfortable and unsafe. one of them even call me but i refuse to answer, but he keep sms me with some unpolite word asking for s*x with him.

We have just returned from my Redang Beach Resort and I want to share the snorkelling service that we had.

The last snorkelling trip was the nightmare to us as there is the staff, namely “Kaloso” provided the worst service that we had. On the first day of arrival, he gave a briefing us before we departed to the snorkelling that we will be going to 3 different locations for snorkelling. So first day, he emphasized that no need to wear slippers on board the boat and we can leave our slippers at the snorkelling centre.

The second day, he mentioned that it will be the same briefing. Those who had listened the briefing before can wait at one corner. So we were not paying attention to what he said. We bare our foot on board the boat.

The third day, we thought everything will be as normal. However, it turned out to be nightmare to us. This round, we have to walk from Redang Beach Resort to Laguna Jetty under the hot sun at 2.30pm, without any footwear. We were like walking barefoot over a bed of hot embers or stones all the way to the jetty, through the hot sand and rough road surface.

Upon reaching the jetty, we got to walk on the sun-heated deck, wooden jetty and wooden boat docks and the non-skip black rubbery surface of the boat to cross over the speed boat. So many people were screaming as the hot surface has burned their feet when they stepped on the hot burning surface.

My two young children were screaming and crying when they stepped on the sun-heated deck. As they have been walking barefoot onto dry sand, the hot road surface and the hot boat docks, they legs are really get burns and blisters appear on their sole.

There was a lady in our boat had asked 3 different boat captains for help, seek their assistant to divert the route when we are going back later. All captains had gave us a very disappointed answer, they were saying that they cannot divert their route, as the wave current in front of Redang Beach or Redang Paradise is very strong (which were not true). The captain even mentioned, if anyone died, they are not responsible to their act.

So, looking at my children condition, my husband turned to one of the diving crew for help, he just walked away quickly without listening.

Then, my husband turned to Kalaso, asking him why he did not give a clear instruction that we will be walking under such a situation. Kalaso, walked closer to my husband and screamed at him that he had given the briefing on the first day - we will be going to 3 different locations for snorkelling. But, he did not emphasized that which location we MUST put on our footwear. We were astonished by his act. What type of customer service that he provides? I shut him off by telling him that I will be complaint to your Management, I will announce his unreasonable act in Facebook, forum, Trip Advisor, etc. …… Then, he slowly turn down his voice.

We are really sad with the terrible service that we are getting. So upon reaching the front desk, we feedback to the reception staff, the lady staff did not appear too surprised. There was a lady claimed that she is the manager there, she just stand there, listen but no action given. After the complaint for that night, we observed that the staff are starring and gossiping behind our backs (in their own language) many times. After we returned from the trip, I had written to their Management to feedback the staff service, but I have not hear anything from them.
It seems like they will keep silent to let the case close.

If I am going to Redang again, I will not choose Redang Beach anymore. It is at your own risk if anything happen ....

My wife, my son and I went to Pulau Redang on 11th Aug 2014 - 13th Aug 2014. We stayed at Redang Beach Resort.

Pros :-
1- Hotel's staffs especially at the reception counter were polite while attending the guest.
2- Ferry stopped in front of Redang Beach Resort and need to transit to another smaller boat to bring the guest to the beach. For Redang Beach Resort's guest, no need to ride another transport because the hotel is just in front of where the smaller boat stopped.
3- Nice and clean beach compared to other hotels nearby. Not to say other hotel's beach are dirty but I cant find any floating rubbish in the water and on the beach of Redang Beach Resort's beach.
4- Got place to chill at night. Bar and restaurant are there with an unplugged band.
5- My request to clean my room and to change the bed sheet was entertained as soon as possible even they said that they were on shortage of staff.
6- 24hrs electricity, hot water and in room water boiler are available.

Cons:-
1- Mosquito exist at night. Recommend to bring your own mosquito prevention especially family with small kid.
2- Superior room without tv. I'm not sure about other types of room.
3- Buffet can be improve. Not to say it was bad but can be improve.
4- Check out was at 0930hrs and the ferry departed at 1100hrs. I think the check out time is too early.

On top of all the review above, I personally recommended others to stay at Redang Beach Resort but you need to bare in mind what type of hotel are you expecting. If you are a luxurious type of guest, this hotel may not suite you.

sorry for the late reply. i am still new in writing reviews for tripadvisor and only noticed the notifications! :D yes. you need to take the rocket like looking ferry and it will stop directly infront of the resort after which a barge boat will transfer you to the white beach of the resort.
