Located in an isolated part of the island it is best suited for those seeking a quiet time. One 3km paved road leads to Teluk Dalam beach. They do offer a boat service to Long beach. General boat services are very expensive. I found all the staff friendly and helpful. I made a prepaid booking two months in advance and was allocated one of their best sea view rooms as a result. The resort overall is still in pretty good shape given its age. My room was modern looking and decent size. Fitted out with a wardrobe, desks and chairs. The aircon, fridge and TV (with english movie channels) all worked just fine. The lighting was adequate but poor over the work desk. The bed had clean linens and afforded me a comfortable sleep. The bathroom had a segregated shower with hot water and decent watet pressure. As you would expect, toiletries were provided. The balcony had a table and two chairs. Nice to sit and relax particularly when there was a slight sea breeze. The food at the restaurant was okay albeit pricey. I found it amusing that at the free buffet breakfast the Malaysian guests would pile in but come dinner time no where to be seen. Overall, even though this resort was not my first choice, I think it was a blessing in disguise as Long beach was packed with tourists.

Dont bother staying at Redang Island Resort. 1) Overpriced. RM510 per night for a room that is old. Not worth it. 2) Far from beach/ restaurants. The nearest beach is a 1 hour walk. And they dont provide complimentary transport service to the beach. Poor. 3) Nosiy. Everytime the person staying upstairs walks, you hear it. And the connecting door to the adjacent room cannot be locked. And one night the person next door accidentally opened the door to our room. WTF. 4) Staffs. Giving contrasting info. Not helpful. In conclusion, dont stay here. Even the dive instructor that we talked to said there are other better options out there. Hope this is helpful for you guys. Cheers.

Redang Island resort was one of the first resorts in Redang and has a great view on the hill overlooking the main harbour / port. Whilst not directly on the beach it does offer morning snorkel trips (10am to 1) and an evening transfer to long beach for dinner options (6-10pm), both of which should be taken up since the highlight of Redang is its snorkelling and beach vibe. Dinner at RIR was not great with an uncooked fish and chips (also missing the lemon noted in the menu as there was none in stock) whilst the beef burger was not great. Maintainace is clearly an ongoing issue with the room having problems with its shower & hot water whilst the pool was not fit for swimming (irrespective of the snake we saw both mornings by the loungers!). On the more positive side the transfers were well managed whilst the staff were keen to help albeit constrained by what they could actually do Rooms on the sea side are significantly better than the forest side given views and light. Rating is a generous average (3stars) but it deserves better than poor (2stars)

The food selection is very limited and tasted horrible. There is no hot water in the shower and it is just overall uncomfortable staying here. There is only one transport to long beach at 6 pm and can only go back at 10 pm. I feel like I am living in survival mode. What was supposed to be a relaxing trip was very dissapointing.

Although this is an ageing hotel (previously Berjaya Redang), for me it's adequate. Location wise, very strategic. Near to the Kampung Jetty, with all amenities nearby. Guests have a choice to dine at the nearby village. Staffs are extremely helpful and courteous. Kudos to Berjaya which employs mostly Redang locals to work in the resort. Really nice to stroll the jetty area and mingle with Redang folks. Chartered a boat for our family to go for snorkeling and it's worth every penny (5 hours). Just a note to Berjaya Group, even though a new baby and profit-making is there (Taaras Beach Resort), in my opinion it is still worth to maintain and upgrade Redang Island Resort.Breakfast could be improved by having egg counter. Overall it was an pleasant stay.

Stay here for 3D2N with my friends. This resort separated from the hectic side of the island. It is peaceful and calming. The surrounding was quiet. located on the hill. There is a secluded beach down the hill, can be visit by going down the stairs. Room was clean. Bed sheet clean and nicely done. The staff was nice and helpful. They help arrange for the activity package & massage for us. The resort was pretty busy, especially at breakfast.

Upon arrival, we need to walk from the jetty to the bus, the bus is not well maintained and a lot of hazard like faulty seat and floor. Upon arriving at the reception, i am given only 1 key instead of 2 keys for 2 room. I need to go back to reception, then i discovered i am only given a single meal voucher instead of 2 for 2 rooms. The receptionist never explain properly and looked incapable of providing a good service, and the other receptionist is really trying hard not to smile like its so expensive. The meal at the restaurant apparently are not buffet as compared to my booking, its ala carte and the taste is only so-so. Luckily the staff there are friendly. We took shuttle to our room because its quite far from the main lobby area, at this point we already discovered that the hotel is far from the beach and to go to the beach we need to take a bus, then need to walk through the jungle for 30 minutes before reaching the shore which is ridiculous. All of these info were not advised in advance. So i ended up paying a taxi van to go to the shore and back to hotel costing me extra RM60 total. Back to the hotel, during dinner, the restaurant staff spilled cold water on me, apologize but instead of giving me a towel she then ignores me and wipe the table. She gave me tissue only when asked. For the dinner menu, we were given an uncooked chicken (chicken chop), asked for recooked, still tasted bad, restaurant offered a replacement meal but this should not happened in a Berjaya standard hotel. For the room, 1 of the room had a faulty fan and another faulty door lock. Proving that this hotel is not well maintained and the management does not bother to maintain it to a Berjaya standard. I booked for 2 night, paid in advance, but i could not bear my Redang Holiday with my family goes to waste, so i checked out the next morning and transferred to another resort which proves to be 1 of the best decision ever. I really am unsure whether my review will be taken seriously or not because talking to the local at the public beach and sharing my experience, the said they heard stories about experiences like these a lot and Berjaya management actually do not bother with improving, they just open the hotel to scam poor souls like myself who book without full checking the reviews at sites like tripadvisor. will be the 1st and last time at Redang Island Resort and maybe Berjaya hotel chain as a whole.

Don´t listen to all the haters here. The place is actually very nice. Yes it is not a five star luxury resort, but come on... you are on island in south east Asia. The chalets are big enough, a/c is working and all is clean. The bathroom is a bit basic and water pressure is not great but it is nothing I would consider a fatal flaw. The most important thing for me was, that you have a really calm environment, possibility to take a free shuttle on beautiful public beach and right below the hotel in the jetty is totaly awesome Thai restaurant D´Kiara where you simply have to eat. The staff is friendly and happy to help you with anything you need. One tip - bring your own alcohol if you want to. It is nearly impossible to get some on the island :-)

I had high hopes going to Redang Island Resort. but it was a major let down. The rooms are not well maintained. And it was a long "hike" to the lobby and they don't have a properly scheduled transportation services for the guests. I pity those who were in wheelchairs and elderly who opted for this resort, and placed at the far end, because it was a long walk, and the place is not differently abled friendly. They also don't provide transportation services to the nearby restaurants. They should consider an hourly service to the guests with a few identified stops so the guests could enjoy the view of the kampung (village) and the company of the friendly locals. They provided only transport to the public beach at 5:30 pm, and a pick up at 7 pm. Little that we know we were to walk an additional 30 minutes to the beach, so that only left us with about 1/2 hour or so at the beach. Which sucks. The room could be beautiful, but they don't seem to care about the rooms. My friend's room didn't have a working AC. The shower head seems loose and I was scared to death everytime I took the shower, I was afraid it could drop on me when showering. The pool was nice, but there weren't any towels provided. So we had to walk in our wet suits back to the rooms (15 minutes walk) They forgot to take one of our luggage out when sending us to the jetty, and they refused to send it because the van was not full, almost causing my friends take another ferry. They managed to convince the ferry operator to wait for them an extra 10 minutes because we were already inside. Lucky for me the company I was with was a fun one. Otherwise the experience would have been really bad. They should take care of the resort, because it gives a different experience while in Redang Island. I love that it's on top of the hill and gives that beautiful view of the sea and marine park. And I love that it has fir trees along the way to the rooms. I don't mind the walks at night but they should consider regular transport provided within the compound at least so we could enjoy the facilities better. Would I go again? Maybe never. Would I recommend it? Perhaps not.

Stayed here 4daya/3nights with their recent promotion package. Not a beachfront hotel like their sister company: Taaras. The hotel was very run down, very limited facilities and the room have very basic amenities. The aircond in our room was leaking and worst was during our stay, electricity cut off from 9.30am to 11pm. Thr electricity tripped basically due to too much electricity was used and it cannot excess the current load. The hotel was overbooked i guess. Overall.. The worst stay ever. Will not recommend anyone to stay this resort.
