We visit Wisana annually as it’s our favourite Malaysian East Coast spot given its private beach, small size (10 rooms) and superb location overlooking the sandbar and offshore islands

It is a simple low key family friendly resort but staff go out of their way to make your stay as relaxing as possible and the buffet meals offer something for all guests.

Since last year rooms have been further upgraded a little and their location on the beach is impossible to beat.

Access is by ferry from Merang on the mainland direct to Wisana or flight by Berjaya Air direct from KL. Unfortunately SKS no longer fly to Redang.

The joy of Wisana is its size, location, its beach, its house reef and its easy access to other attractions such as the numerous snorkel spots around Redang or to visit Long beach for its restaurants, bars etc (Wisana itself is alcohol free).

Long Beach Transfers and snorkel trips can easily be arranged through reception either on a group basis or as a private one

Snorkelling remains one of the joys of Redang and it is recommended to take the opportunity to do so whilst visiting. Some of its locations in the right conditions are world class.

We look forward to next years return!

Wisana is our go to spot in Redang given its fantastic vibe, small size (10 rooms) and superb location with its own beach, close house reef and views over the islands and sandbar.

The cost is all in including 3 buffet meals a day (with approx 5 options each meal) and the rooms which are all on the beach are simple, and functional.

Access is either by ferry from Merang direct to the beach out by flight to Redang Airport with either Berjaya Or SKS and then a short car/ boat transfer organised by Wisana

Snacks / soft drinks are available to buy from reception. Should you wish anything else it is easy to arrange a transfer to the main tourist “long beach”, 10 mins by boat away which has a no of restaurant options and where beers etc is available.

Wisana offer a daily group snorkel package visiting 2 or 3 of the more popular sites whilst a new innovation is a night snorkel on the house reef. Private snorkels are also an option and highly recommended with Azrin. He
will take you to a variety of very different options all of which are unforgettable and many, in the right conditions, world class.

Highly recommended, Enjoy!

We are regulars at Wisana so a little biased. Wisana is a 10 room resort with its own magnificent beach and comfortable rooms, simple but with all mod cons.
The majority of guests are local families enjoying the great location which adds to the enjoyment. It is still very much a hidden secret.

The initial wow factor is the location on a private beach overlooking a sandbar (accessible by canoe) and views to adjacent islands. Sunrise is a must. The house reef, a 5/10 minute snorkel away, is also superb and well worth exploring, particularly at lower tide as it gives a spectacular view on reef life for more confident snorkelers.

The majority of guests will arrive by ferry from Merang direct to the beach (normally included in your room-rate) but should you fly direct from KL (SKS 1.5 hrs on a Twin Otter, great value and so far very reliable or Berjaya 1hr more comfortable but more costly and a lot less predictable re timings and operation), Wisana will arrange the transfer via car and boat.

Staff at Wisana go out of their way to help make your stay a success. Meals are buffet but generally the 5 options will cater for most tastes and are more than adequate. Water and a changing variety of drinks are available through two water coolers. Should you wish anything else it is easy to arrange a transfer to the main tourist “long beach”, 10 mins by boat away, to buy supplies or a 10 min walk round on a board walk to the next beach resort where crisps/nuts/chocolates, soft drinks are available from their somewhat unpredictable shop….

Local mobile phone connection is sporadic although Wisana does have a wifi that works most of the time

The highlight of redang however is the spectacular beaches (of which Wisana has one of the best) and the snorkeling. We highly recommend organising to do a private snorkel, Wisana will take you to a variety of very different options all of which are unforgettable and many, in the right conditions, world class. Personally we have now explored at least 10 excellent snorkel spots

Highly recommended, Enjoy!

It's hard to rate Heaven.
Paradise is not for everyone
It's for those who deserve it... And so this place of the heart.
Spartan rooms to say the least. Needless to write down the details.
If you love Nature with a capital N it is the place of the heart for you too, otherwise forget it and go to a hotel in long Beach.
If you go to Redang to be in company, spend your days doing activities, eating well, having luxury rooms etc. do not go anywhere near the Wisana.
If you love the spectacular sea, isolation, total silence, boredom, animals, peace of all senses then the Wisana will give you what you will not find elsewhere.
Filling your eyes and heart is all too easy here and everything else (rooms, food etc.) takes a back seat..
A place for a few... Thankfully💗

4 of us (me, wife, son 15, daughter 11) Plan to visit on year 2020 then manage to to book in Mar 2021 due to open closed between cities border been reschedule the date ever since, finally in Aug 13 2023 we go.
We ride bus from TBS to KT then was picked up with Pok Ali to Jeti Merang met with Bang Ameen he manage our private boat to Wisana Village only 4 of us.
We reach Wisana Village boat park in front of its private beach with warmth welcome from all staff taking all our luggage to reception area, finally we met with Kak Lini we been communicate since 2020 to plan our ultimate beach vacation.
Check-in Superior Chalet all wood interior with AC, huge bathroom, hot water, towels, 2 Queen size bed, terrace with chairs and table and with amazing view of the beach right away under our nose.
Meal was served buffet everyday breakfast, lunch, high tea and dinner was mixed of local and western food was all very good.
Snorkeling, went to 3 spot Turtle spot, color fishes and cave spot Abang Bob really know the best place to snorkel and we get extra stop to buy ice cream and to sand banks.
Fishing, I plan for extra activities they provide fishing but in the beginning sadly they did not mention to us that fishes caught have to bring back on our own. we fish with Abang Pi the best fisher man I know, he know the spot and can read the wind, wave, water, the fishes end up we got 6 huge trevallies. after some conversation with the staff Kak Lini prepare us with the best fish dishes ever taste me and whole family, she cook us our request Fish & Chips and 3 Flavors fish (superb local dish) cooked by her self and we ask to put on to buffet table so every guest in the hotel can take was the best dinner experiences of all time.
We like island adventure so far Wisana Village provide us the best magical experience all staff was very nice and polite like family.

Tips: 1
1. bring insect repellant, we put on eucalyptus oil (indonesian Minyak Kayu Putih) before bed time to keep away from crawling walls lizards they hate the smells.
2. bring or rent Swim Fins for snorkeling as current might drag you at Cave area.
3. bring glove and small chair for fishing as the boat only chair for captain.

Terrible place with a beautiful beach.
It’s not 1000% worth the money, for comparison, 1100 rm per day versus 1200 for mimpi 4 stars, or next to Wisana five, for 1700 rm.
The house has holes in the walls, very dirty, stained mattresses, bad food, ants.
When you checked in, there was no toilet paper in the toilet, the hygienic shower was broken, which constantly leaked (like an open water tap)
WiFi works at the reception, cellular reception is difficult.
In general, a clean tent is even better than a dirty house with holes in the walls.
We arrived as a family, with two children, and ended up calling a boat and leaving for another hotel.
We looked at the corals nearby, nothing special.
There are wooden sun loungers on the beach, some are broken.
There is outdoor snorkeling, but it is expensive.
The only positive thing is that the staff was friendly, they asked for a refund for one day out of two, they returned it, thank you very much.
Overall, it’s a shame that in a place as beautiful as a postcard, there is such an unkempt place with inadequate prices.

One of the most beautiful small resort I have ever been. The family and staff are so nice and I felt almost being part of them . All rooms have seaview. The white sandy beach and cristal clear water is fantastic and also the snorkeling spots. From the restaurant you have also seaview and the food was also great.

Rates on redang are high. So I opted for the wisana which seemed to be a quality hotel.
Regarding the situation on the island, it is poorly located, the sea is rougher than elsewhere. Swimming is often dangerous. The bungalows are old, poorly maintained, they were clean, but the towels and sheets were holed. No small fridge. The bungalow barely locks, our key broke we had to go to sea leaving our things with the bungalow open.
The package is excessive. The food is bland for this country where the food is usually delicious. Lots of white rice... as dessert just 1 fruit and banana or industrial marbled cake. Amazing for the price applied. Unlimited water and water with very chemical syrup.

Regarding the excursion planned in the package, very disappointed also... the rough seas we were dropped off in 3 snorkelling spots, no beach. And since the sea was rough we could not go to see the turtles... no compensation. We asked to make a 5min stop on the sandbank in front of the hotel. Refus. This is another excursion to pay!...

When the sea is rough boats cannot get on the pier. It was very dangerous. There were injuries, I fell off the boat and injured myself, a lady cut her leg on the propellers.

I strongly advise against this hotel which has potential

Private beach, crystal clear water, friendly welcome, amazing view, astoundingly calming and relaxing. First day of arrival we had a hiking to see breathtaking scenary of Redang Island, and next day swimming with turtle and great time snorkling. Night time is very quite but they have patio where u can lay down and relax after meals. Limit internet coverage but u may go to jetty or nearby resort in case u need any. I would definitely come back and probably longer stay despite pricey due to worthwhile. But, pls booked mych earlier as the resort has limited rooms and oftenly fully booked too.

We spent three nights with our son in the Wisana Village and felt completely comfortable. The whole team is very friendly. It's quiet and relaxed, almost a family atmosphere. We originally wanted to come in 2020, but then Corona came. It was no problem to postpone the trip several times without losing the deposit and in August 2022 we were finally able to visit Redang.
The beach is gorgeous, with white sand and crystal clear water. You can start snorkeling from the nearest headland on foot. We also recommend an excursion organized by the resort to offshore islands (e.g. Pulau Lima) and to the turtles. Our guide explained the best snorkeling spot to us very professionally.
The food as part of the full board tasted very good. Varied and always something that the children like. Especially when you consider that everything has to be delivered with the bot, a really extraordinary achievement.
Overall, Wisana Village was the best place in our entire Malaysia tour and felt like a home away from home. We would like to come back...
