We had booked a 5 day stay at another resort in Perhentian island but after a traumatic experience with the hotel’s lack of health and safety consideration, we decided to cut short our stay there and move on to Laguna Redang.

It was the best decision we made. Laguna really saved my holiday. True, i had to spend more (since the other hotel refused to refund us) but Laguna was worth every single cent.

The precautions and care that they took (with the pandemic situation) made us feel safe and cared for. No housekeeping entered our room and that was great because that lowered the risk of contamination. During meal times they always checked guests’ temperatures and made sure everyone wore masks.

For the buffets, last time i visited they had more options but i understand why there were less options now. The manpower required to serve each item on the buffet was just too much (yes! We were served at the buffet, so guests couldnt cross contaminate the serving spoons- great!). All said, the food was delicious! As usual, when we go to Laguna, my husband comes home a few pounds heavier!

The beach was beautiful and sea life abundant. The pool was also fantastic. Love love love!

All in all, Laguna saved my holiday and made it fabulous despite the pandemic situation. Laguna is an example of how a resort should operate during these difficult times. Other resorts could learn a thing or two from them. We felt safe and cared for and will definitely be back.

The best part i like about this place is the luggage arrangements.. systematically well arranged! For me that have small kids, it really convenient when i do not have to carry the luggage to the hotel.. same goes during check out.. they will send the luggage to the ferry.. thumbs up!
Check in process smooth and fast
My room 305 is really good. Close to the beach, pool, recreation centre, lobby and restaurant. But for those who like the privacy i would not recommended the room.
The meals provided just ok for me, not variety and can be further improve. I like the way the arrange the crowd as we will be given table no upfront..
This resort is very particular in following sop for covid as wear a mask is mandatory at all area.. they also practice regular sanitising at dining area and counter lobby.. the room also clean up upon request to minimise the contact..
Overall i will miss this place and wish to come back again!

The hotel location is just perfect; you can just snorkel right from the beach. White sands and crystal clear water. Nearby dive centers are great for diving arrangements. Food could be better. The hotel management should really think about improving their buffet breakfast - mind you the room rate was not cheap so buffet breakfast should be better than this. Also dinner options are very limited.

The place is lovely. Rooms clean and spacious. All the staff at the resort are so helpful, courteous, kind, always willing to help and very attentive. The resort manager is a gentlemen, he is a very on hands and was a delight to talk to.
The Buffet at the resort had a variety of dishes and everyone always had something to eat, buffet was never empty always topped up. Wait staff during meals times always on top of clearing and ensuring ure table is cleared of any unwanted dishes

I would definitely recommend Laguna Resort.

Thank You for a great trip.

PS - cocktails at the beach bar, just perfect.

Had a booking from the 14th till 18th July 2020, took the package that included all meals, breakfast lunch and dinner. Had a total a 7 of us with a relative taking the dive package and hence the dive rooms which were closer to the jetty. The meals were terrible and not the standard of the claimed 4 star status that the hotel has, not even close to a 2 star hotel meal. Was given diving rates by the sales agent from the KL office but was told it was the wrong rates quoted AFTER the dive, the sales agent when contacted said that she had made a mistake, her exact words were that if i had paid upfront for the dives, they would have then honoured the deal but since it was mentioned verbally then they could not do that. rooms were ok but phones in the rooms were not working, as mentioned the buffet meals were bad, ended buying meals daily from the restaurants. total waste of money. Had a look around and found much better hotels offering better service for much less.

The beach is great. The pool is wonderful. The food and service is very poor. I just don’t understand why they don’t train their staff to have a service mentality and try to get repeat business. I was sold room temp, warm beer twice and they were annoyed that I didn’t want it warm. The buffet food was just so gross and felt dirty. Cold eggs, cold noodles, cold rice, cold meat. We bought the package but ended up eating lunch and dinner at other restaurants on the beach. Also, it drives me nuts that they shut down the pool and beach during the best swimming time - 7pm.. hard stop.

The rooms front beach are nice with fantastic view and clean ( with the RMCO) they don’t clean them you need to ask to the housekeeper. The beach and water are awesome. Except that , day and night it’s noisy, the people play music everywhere with no respect of others, they speak loud.In result you can’t even sleep properly. The food is like a school canteen, dirty floor, same food everyday. We stayed 6 nights and we are happy to leave. Be Aware of your belongings, someone stole my daughter’s bag with her iPad, headphones and clothes and nobody help us to find it .It was stole at the restaurant ! And top of that the last day ( Saturday) they don’t serve alcohol anymore at the bars & restaurants ( for religion issues). So bring your own alcohol if you need. No security staff around so everyone can come on the sun bed and swimming pool. No CCTV in the hotel so no control. We never seen any managers, only the staff . The staff is not very nice and is very slow to do anything specially the drinks. The swimming’s pool bar is still closed and the beach bar open around 5pm.
For the snorkelling the boats are crowded ( around 40/50 pax on each ) so no SOP.

We took the full board package of 3 days, 2 nites stay at Laguna. It includes airport transfer to the jetty, ferry ride to Redang Island and shuttle to the resort and the other way to airport after we checked out. The resort was full capacity because of the long weekend but we think the whole processes were done quite efficiently.

The resort itself is well maintained and clean. We took the deluxe sea view room which is spacious and offers fantastic view of the beach. The full board package also include 3 snorkelling trips but you still need to rent a life jacket and face gorgle from the recreation center. But we decided to take a private snorkelling trip because there were just too many people in those free snorkelling trips.

The full board obviously includes breakfast, lunch and dinner served buffet style. Many varieties of food but the quality and tastes are quite average. The main reason is probably they are preparing foods for a very large group of people. Our main grouses is definitely the large crowd during meals time. It’s just too many people. Too crowded.. and it’s very warm and humid because the restaurant is an open restaurant with no aircond.

In short, the resort is really good and we recommend everyone to visit it but just try to avoid going during peak period! The resort has many rooms and if it’s fully occupied like during our recent stay, it will be too crowded and you won’t be able to really enjoy the nice ambience.

The group of 6 stayed for 4days 3nights full board in the beach front room (408/409) and 2 days before check out (breakfast only) in pool view room (809/811 which is ground floor connecting). Room facing beach get to see sunrise but expect music from beachfront lounge. Cakes can be purchased at lounge for birthday celebration. Pool and garden view rooms expect to have naughty monkeys who will sneak into balcony to pick up stuff that u sun there. We witnessed 1 at 2nd floor of pool room. Reception staff, Ms Seandy took in our request to facilitate transfer of luggages. As we have am dive, the staff assisted with the luggage transfer and we gotten the rooms by the time we returned from diving at around 12pm. The receptionist was also very cleared in the billing as we have 1 additional friend who joined us on day 2 of our stayed. Everything was handled very smoothly.
Impressive food selections for full board. Seats were allocated at counter, and buffet refilled fast. There’s also stations for egg/ roasted meat/ noodles/ prata. We had 1 steamboat and 1 BBQ dinners in the package. Servers were attentive especially Ms Akmal. We only joined the resort snorkeling once, didn’t quite like it due to the mass. Most of the time we were at the Laguna dive centre- we did the refresher course / PADI open water scuba diving and PADI free diving course (charged to room for easy billing). Saw whale shark during free diving. The instructors were friendly and professional in their teaching skills. We also engaged them to assist in arranging a private boat for turtle snorkeling and did the ATV. ATV is not for the faint heart . The 2hrs ride has a 70degree incline with many obstacles, the guides especially Eric, were very motivating and helpful. Laguna has a foodcourt that operates for dinner. We also ate at Redang beach resort - kopitiam and summer point resort- the salted egg cuttlefish and 月光河 were very authentic.
If you need snorkeling set it’s at RM $15 for full stays (house reef has plentiful of coral fishes and we saw blacktip sharks) and housekeeping can be requested when needed.
Overall, the trip was above our expectations and we will return.

The Hotel was ok the staff was ok. Appreciate the pool staff for providing first aid to my leg that was injured due to the rocks and coral. Im just not sattisfied with the food and drinks they provide. The drinks taste like cheap cordial drinks where u can taste the water more than the flavour. The bbq seriously out not like last time. The squid is chewy and the lamb more bones than meat same goes to the duck. Really not enjoyed the bbq dinner. The pasta seriously bland and the sauce is really sour. The chicken grill tasteless. The mushroom and chicken soup also same tasteless and too watery. Nasi lemak, satay, keropok lekor that i enjoyed but others not really. For a 4 star hotel im sure the food that you should serve would be twice better than what i had during my stay there. Really dissapointed with the food. Other than that everything was fine. Oh ya theres no music or live band at night. U should provide music or live band near the beach where people can enjoy and relax while drinking cocktail/mocktail by the beach. It was really quiet and boring at night. There is no activity at night. You should provide some activity at night where guest can enjoy and take part in the activity.
