auberge is nicely located at the edge of the dunes, accessible by a 7km dirt road in good condition; spacious rooms and very good beds; good breakfast, spacious and nicely decorated kasbah, well maintained; camel ride and nigth in the desert is awesome

It's always interesting to visit popular locations slightly off season. When it's less crowded you get to see real faces of personnel and quality of the facilities. Dunes D'or delivered in both aspects. At the time of our visit they probably had 3-4 rooms occupied only, so we were lucky to enjoy amazing service provided by only 2 or 3... More

The Auberge is located at the Erg Chebbi at Merzouga. The sand dunes starts directly next to the terrace and you can sit and take your mint tea with your feet in the sand. It is possible that your experience really desert feeling...with only a cold shower...low electricity or sandstorm...but this is, why we leave our homes and travel. I... More

The auberge felt like a refuge in the midst of the sandstorm in which we arrived. Guests were playing cards and drinking mint tea in the common areas, looking out onto the Sahara through windows that wrapped around the room. The common areas have all the colorful Berber rugs, textiles, woodwork and design features that are so appealing in Morocco.... More

Perfectly located hotel for visiting the dunes. The sand is at your patio ! Service was very good. Pool area offers a nice retreat ! Everything was clean. The restaurant was very good, with entertainment in the evening. We didn't actually see Merzouga, which guidebooks had said can be overrun with tourists. To the contrary, we felt very "out there"... This is in a fantastic location. You literally open your patio doors and the dunes are there. We only stayed one night. It was our intention to stay longer and sleep at the desert camp. However, our son was recovering from illness, so we gave it a miss. The rooms were ok. AC was only available in the evening, when... More

Location of this hotel is amazing - you do really open your doors to the sand dunes of Merzouga. In terms of facilities the place is somewhat run down and airco in our room was not working well - bit of an issue in 45+ degrees. Also there is no electricity in the daytime as power lines have not been... More

The trip to get to this hotel was across some of the most barren and remote land I've ever seen. I later found out that NASA uses this area to test out the Mars rovers. If you've ever taken a ride out across this stretch of Earth, you understand why. The hotel staff, of whom I only saw/met two, were... More

The view of the dunes is fantastic. Just like in the movies. The hotel has a nice swimming pool. Some of the rooms have a great view of the dunes. Mine did. The service at the hotel was not so good as it might have been. My room did not have a bar of soap for example.
