This was the ultimate hide-away from any city noise and business. Located right next to the water, beauty surrounding you at every footstep. There are dogs everywhere here, but they are super friendly and the owners of the hotel keep after them. Also, serves as a bi-lingual school during the day. There are lots of activities that the hotel can...

This rustic hostel is situated in the middle of a beautiful part of the island. Next to the lake, and filled with trees and flowers, this hostel is a perfect setting for relaxation. The restaurant had limited options and decent food but was nothing to write home about. The room met our needs and had a beautiful view of the...

This place was kind of like a backpackers paradise. The location was very beautiful. We stayed in one of the two best rooms, and it was decent, but nothing crazy. The hammock outside our room was really nice, but you can only spend so much time in a hammock. We went for a beautiful kayak. Food was good. Price was...

We are older adventure travelers but a lot of things mortified me. I'm still here on my iPad so want to keep it short. Yes it's pretty here but it's a dump. All the tents are set up and torn, all the sea kayak seats are torn, they don't take care of stuff. Food is good but dinner wasn't served...

Dear Our Past Guest, Thank you for your review. You are right on the tents. Althogh they have been purchased recently, the tropical sun was to hard on them. We have stopped providing tents for this reason. So I am happy to announce threre will no longer be torn tents blocking the beautiful sunsets. Similarly our kayaks have suffered from...

It was such a nice place!! Really god atmosphere! I absolutely loved it, and the sunset was just magic! The hostel was really nice with good rooms for a good price. Breakfast where not included, but they had a really good menu, which I didn't find expensive. The food also tasted really good. Only minus I have is that the...

I have stayed here at the Hacienda for over three weeks while volunteering at the bilingual school associated with it. My entire time here has been wonderful with no problems at all. The hotel has one of the best views on the entire island. And the sunsets? Absolutely breathtaking! There is something for all types of travelers here: tents, hammocks,...

I had a bit of a mixed experience at the Hacienda Merida. Here's a tale of the good and not so good. My ground floor private room was small and sweet with a mozzie net, and had a nicely done en-suite bathroom. It was good value for the money. The downside: the bathroom bin (where you put your toilet paper...

Ok place that offers some activities and view over the lake and the sunset. The rooms upstairs are rustic but nice, with cold shower. It was Lonely Planet´s top choice but we were a little disappointed; it didn´t feel unique and worth the hassle, as presented in the review. The service was not very good, the staff undedicated and unpersonal....

I had originally planned on staying 4 nights here and that was way too much, after two days I changed hotels. There wasn't a lot to do in the area other than hike or bike. It takes at least 1.5 hours from the hotel to go to Ojos de agua and the beach. You can kayak or rent a scooter...

Hacienda Merida will remain one of my fondest memories of Nicaragua. We are a family of four with two teenage girls and everything I read about the hacienda appealed to me from the location and reviews to their community mission. However, the "private dorm room for four" was not one of them. I was so wrong - the room was...
