We were given somewhat good rooms earlier, But to reach there you need to climb three floors( Yes no elevators to that floor),,, Then suddenly morning hotel guys asked us to shift to small room next day as one more party with 3 people were coming.. We agreed to their request. But that room was very very small. You cannot...

Nice hotel overlooking the city of Kandy. Has a troupe of monkeys that regularly visit the hotel so heed the warnings and keep your windows and doors closed. Staff friendly and very helpful able to arrange onward travel by car. 20 min walk down to the lake or 300 LKR in a tuk tsk. Good buffet breakfast with lots of...

The place doesn't know a thing about customer service. The staff is slow, sad looking, unenthusiastic, and perpetually tired. Nobody says hello to the guests. Food in the restaurant is as tired as the staff. I understand some rooms have a great view. Rooms are ok, internet is slow. The city is very beautiful.

November 2016, 2 Family rooms (3rd floor), 8ppl, BnB. Parking was a mess. Security guard had no idea about parking. I had to move my car 5 times here and there saying a tourist bus is coming (may be because we are local?!). Bathroom shower cubicle was leaking and became messy (see images). Bathroom so small. Staff was excellent in...

The hotel is very nice, but the rooms number versus floors level are misleading. Rooms rather small. Treat the monkey sign on the windows seriously - dont leave money and jewellery in the room, no safebox available. Nice pool at the ground floor. If you would like to avoid noise, select any room not in front of pool. Nice restaurant,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Serene Garden Hotel is situated within walking distance of the city centre and overlooking the serene Kandy Lake. Above all these things, something unique about Serene Garden Hotel: its ambience is serene and the experience blends with the unique enchantment that Kandy serenely weaves in the mind of the foreign traveller, as it has done for centuries. From Serene Garden Hotel, it is walking distance to the Dalada Maligawa (The Temple of the Tooth) across the road from the Kandy Lake. This hallowed temple is synonymous with the historic hill capital of Kandy; it is where the tooth relic of the Buddha is enshrined, enduring symbol of a nation’s sovereignty. ... more   less
