Out of all the 5 tour hotels in Sri Lanka, without doubt, this was one was something special. Without repeating what others have said about this place, we will instead reinforce their recommendations. Stunning colonial property, huge rooms full of character. Great breakfast terrace. Unfortunately we only had a one night stay here, with an early morning start, so were...

This is a grand old colonial building that's been transformed into a lovely hotel. We had a great 2 day stay here - our room was spacious (we stayed in one of the upstairs rooms), high ceiling and very grand with modern bathroom, the food was good value, the grounds are beautiful over looking rice fields and water buffalo at...

The hotel was a bit hard to find as it is outside Kandy up a rough track but all of a sudden the path enters the grounds and a covered portico that shows you the impressive entrance. The hotel is an old colonial house and it is very large with big entertaining areas and very high ceilings. We had a...

We stayed in this hotel during December 2011, Colonila Style Hotel with high ceilings and we stayed in a room where Mahatma Gandhi Stayed. Staff is very co-operative, scenery is awsome, will highly recommend though it's outside Kandy BUT if you have your own car (taxi) worth staying. Food was also excellent

This hotel to me is exactly the reason why I completely rely on TripAdvisor. Without this website I would never have found this gem of a hotel. Its an old mansion used to be occupied by a high ranking British officer and Gandhi stayed here once. The building is classy and the interior is absolutely stunning, in particular the dining...

A happy guest is our biggest trophy and we strive to achieve it with everything we can offer. I have to confess that we still have a lot of areas to improve and...

This was an experience especially coming from the Tea Trails. It is a lovely old building but almost falling apart inside and in desperate need of some sympathetic makeover. It could be superb as the position and the excellent staff are all for the taking. But as has been said before, one towel, one small piece of soap, one sheet...

The building is impressive on the outside, but needs improvement on the inside. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, but in need of renovation. There is no shampoo or shower gel available and only one towel per person. However, the staff are lovely and very accommodating. They are very helpful and did their best to help us with everything we needed....

Can't actually add anything to what recent reviewers have written with regards to the Mansion and it's rooms - we had a great stay for three nights with friends - wonderful food on the terrace overlooking the paddy fields. We weren't offered the 'take out' from the wine shop when we first asked for a beer, although the staff were...

The Mansion is a jewel of an estate- the architecture of the structure is magnificent, grounds stunningly beautiful. The hotel is an absolute bargain, but falls short of being an outstanding destination. The rooms a very basic; ours had frosted glass panes which brought in much light at night- we had to cover them with towels. No shampoos or other...

About the only drawback for this hotel is that it is a 30 minute trip from Kandy city centre. So if you like walking into town for visits to the Pub Royal or Flower Song resaurant it may not be for you - even though cheap transport is laid on. That said just about everything else about the Mansion is...
