If you are looking for a cozy place to rest and relax, then the Kandy House is for you. It's charm lies not in its centralized location, and that's exactly the point. The house is the destintion. Through the use of candles, mirrors, strategically placed comfy chairs and abundant greenery, the house exudes a peaceful vibe. If you are seeking...

Kandy house was an excellent spot but being well out of town you had no chance to walk and explore the area. The food was superb and varied over our 3 night stay. Eating on the covered outdoor patio was excellent even on a rainy night. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The drive to and from Kandy was...

We stayed at the Kandy house for 3 nights as part of our 3 week tour of Sri Lanka. The Kandy house is the oldest house in Kandy and is a beautiful Colonial house. It is about 10mins outside Kandy which is perfect as it is situated in a lovely beautiful and tranquil setting. It has lovely grounds a beautiful...

Kandy House is a real hideaway in the hustle and bustle of Kandy and Sri Lanka. It may be someway outside Kandy but it's worth the trip, such a surprise to find tranquility after a long day of travel and temple visiting. The room although quite small was beautiful, although the aircon unit would be better positioned away from the...

A lovely relaxed and intimate place to stay in a charming colonial building. Rooms beautifully furnished and very individual, gardens peaceful and serene, a delight. Public areas of the building are also tastefully and thoughtfully furnished and offer more spaces to relax and unwind if you find your room or veranda not enough! Food is excellent though a very small...

Our recent tour of Sri Lanka involved a visit to Kandy and we elected to stay at The Kandy House. Whilst this location is around a 20 minute drive from the centre of Kandy it proved to be a wise decision as it enabled you to have a respite from the noise and activity of town. Once you drive through...

Absolutely loved The Kandy House! This is an artistically restored residence with lovely gardens, verandas and pool. A welcome respite from the clamor of Kandy. Our Peacock room was lovely with a four poster bed. The walk in monsoon shower was superb. Our butler was very attentive and provided early tea/continental breakfast one morning for an early excursion. The food...

This was the best boutique hotel we have visited in years and beat all our other venues in Sri Lanka with ease. Ok we did spring for a Supra room which comes with butler ( understated, charming) and private side terrace, like a beautiful garden-living room. But I gather the upgrade, if available, costs only another $ 60 or so...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Kandy House is a unique ancestral manor house (walauwa) providing seclusion and serenity for its guests in a lush, tropical garden setting, close to Kandy. With only 9 bedrooms, this Kandy hotel, aims is to give guests an experience of staying more in a private house than a conventional hotel. Traditional Kandyan architecture has been blended with Bawa-influenced modern, polished titanium cement floors and bathrooms. In the gardens, a stunning infinity pool has been landscaped into the hillside overlooking the rice paddy fields. Delicious European fusion and Sri Lankan cuisine is on offer. Well-placed to spend time to relax as well as explore a broad selection of Sri Lanka's primary destinations in the Cultural Triangle and Tea Country, including the Temple of the Tooth and the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens. The house can also be booked as a whole for important celebrations with friends, or just for the peace of mind of a group having total privacy away from the public eye. The Kandy House also makes an ideal honeymoon hotel in Sri Lanka, in a quiet peaceful setting, honeymooners can enjoy the infinity pool, private dining, yoga or massages. ... more   less
