The rooms where not the most comfortable or best-equiped, but they had their charme. The best point of banana rest is the great friendly service and the amazing local food they prepare. Here you can find the original rice 'n curry! Would go here again.

What an amazing place hidden in the jungle with a room surrounded by monkeys, monitors, beautiful fruit trees and elephants near by. The room itself was a bit tired and the mosquito net didn't do much, but we were in the jungle.. The owners were just lovely and helped in any way they could. It was a great place to... More

Great location close to Sigiriya. Welcoming and great sri lankan rice and curry. Garden and lake very peaceful. The lemon juice was amazing and the ginger beer and Lion beer was also welcome. Rooms were good and sitting on the veranda was very atmospheric - lovely view of the stars.

Banana Rest is located in the middle of nowhere near Sigiriya, but we had our own driver so it wasn't too much a problem. The room was large and decently clean, but the hot tub wasn't working — it was either too hot or too cold. The surroundings was great but there may be snakes in the evening. The food... More

We stayed here for a night. The room we got was very clean. No mosquitoes. The people running the place were very down to earth and very accommodating. The homemade sri lankan food was really tasty. A little away from the highway and hence getting in /out will take a bit longer. Room did not have a TV. It was... More

Really nice guesthouse a few km from the rock, transport is provided free by the hotel to get to Sigiriya. The location is good, if you arrive by bus as we did you can tell the conductor where you are staying and he drops you at a side road and then you have a 5 minute walk to the resort... More

We spent four great days at Banana Rest. Ramid was a great host and so were Gayan and Krishantha. They really made us feel at home. We cooked roti together and they took us on a night elephant spotting trip. Also Ramid arranged a great trip to Minerya national park (a must see - more than 200 wild elephants including... More
