We have stayed at the Eco Lodge for a couple of nights last month. We booked the bungalow next to the main building. The surrounding area is truly remarkable and the idea of having the Eco Lodge to support the local community is really great. Unfortunately I could not recommend the Lodge to any traveller. Long story short place is...

My family (2 adults and 2 kids) stayed here at the start of March. The place itself is nice and clean and very good value. The people, however, are what makes the place amazing. They could not do enough to help us, this was hugely refreshing after the experience we had had in central Sri Lanka. The rooms are designed...

Driving down the dirt road off the A-2 just outside Tangalle to Puranagama I began thinking that we might have made a huge mistake booking something that sounded so wonderful yet at the moment seemed to be a bit sketchy. Never fear. In our two weeks in Sri Lanka, the Puranagama Eco Lodge was by far the most peaceful, quietest...

WOW... one of the best natural creations of the god. I cant even believe its biodiversity, fauna and flora. If you are a nature lover you should select this place at least for 2 -3 days. They have long stay clientele and people who are expecting a big change of the eco. The eco lodge is bordering to the Rekawa...

Good location, but not recommended to others, as fake charges. They cheated our final bill. Manager didn't have one word. He is a cheater. All the necessary provisions for cooking been supplied by us. But finally they have charged around 17,000 rupee as food preparation charges. Manager told us before, they do not charge for cooking.

Old fashioned country house style lodge provides much comfort the traveller expects. Breathtaking view of Rekawa lagoon and you can see thousands and thousands of birds flying into the island in front of the house. Staff is very friendly and the food is delicious. Can go for Sri Lankan or any other cuisine. No adjoining dwellings thus the hotel preserves...

We stayed in this lovely and quiet eco friendly retreat, about 5km in land (turn off is by the 202 mile post). The land has been granted by the gvt to preserve the marsh land. It is run by 3 business men on a voluntary basis, but the staff on site, cooking delicious meals (the calamari curry was scrumptious), are...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Puranagama TangaIle is just a mile away from the main road in TangaIle but once you enter it seems you have ventured deep into the forest. A sense of calmness pervades the atmosphere and the sun seems to be loung-ing in the sky as the winds brush up against you. Automatically your body and mind begins to unwind and the quite surroundings seem bliss. This is the place to be if you want some peace and quite to pull yourself together. This small village of clay houses, build in the traditional Sri Lankan way. After the Tsunami 2004 the construction of the houses started to offer you this unique Eco Lodge experience. The basis of the houses are made of wooden sticks and the walls a clay mixture. The roof is covered with palm leaves or coconut mats and straw. This construction method creates a special climate in the house and brings a pleasant coolness on hot days. Puranagama is not stylish and sophisticated; it simply gives you pure nature to feast on. The mood at Puranagama is the right mood you want to be and you need to be. Puranagama gives you the mood of serenity. Find out everything about the Eco village Puranagama about the construction of a clay house - discover flora & fauna and about further activities here - live in one of the clay houses and enjoy the pure nature close-by or do a nature hike in the surrounding area. We have three types of accommodation as follows.
