The Good

The location and the accompanying sea-facing views on offer are a high-point. Our room offered a stunning view of the endless sea horizon and the entire city including a gorgeous sunset. You'll be hardpressed to find anything that comes even remotely close.

Breakfast was mostly excellent with a good mix of Indian and Western (leaning more towards Indian obviously). The hospitality of the staff was noteworthy as well. They're amazingly courteous, patient and well spoken. While the pool itself is closed, the pool area was available for snapping pictures and offers a comfy vibe with another view of the city for a picturesque background. Plenty of popular South Bombay locations are easily accessible from where the Trident is located.

We visited the place during the last week of December and beautiful Christmas decorations consequently adorned the place. It gave off a very festive vibe.

The Bad

There were two things that almost marred our experience and enjoyment of the trip.
The first of these was an accidental privacy violation of sorts that significantly dampened our mood.

Without getting into the finer details though, the manager was extremely apologetic about it and more than made up for it by upgrading us to a suite as well as arranging for a complementary dinner. The effort they put into rectifying the situation significantly uplifted our spirits and helped us move past the situation.

The second of these unfortunately, left a sour taste in the mouth. It happened right after checking out when the valet took over 45 minutes to fetch our car. I attribute it to some chaos that ensued as a wedding bus parked itself right in front of the gate leaving the valets stuck. Regardless, it was painful to stand there with our bags as the valets struggled to even determine where the car was parked. Many others faced a similar issue that day.

The scarcity of sanitizers was also a concern. There was no sanitization at the hotel entrance and we had to request a sanitizer bottle explicitly at the room due to the absence of one. Sanitization was however, available at the floor of our stay. Again, could be chalked down to cost savings but I'd suggest carrying your own bottle just in case.

Recently stayed with family in interconnected city view rooms, hence no sea view from room. We were received at airport by hotel representative for hotel transfer as per our package. Main charm of Trident, Nariman Point is its location, on Marine Drive and close to some popular landmarks, like Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Gateway of India, Colaba, Girgaum Chowpatty etc. The check-in and check-out were fast and hassle free, the check-in formalities were even completed in the room itself. The rooms were large and pleasantly maintained and fitted with all comforts and amenities like king sized comfortable bed, choice of pillows, TV, AC, coffee maker, free wifi etc. The washroom was relatively small and was fitted with a bathtub and shower in bathtub, saving kit was missing from the toiletries. The buffet breakfast at Frangipani restaurant had numerous options including live counters. The staffs were courteous and responsive, hospitality was satisfactory as always in Oberoi hotels. The hotel seems to be a popular destination for travelers and events, as entry, lobby, lift etc. were busy and too congested at most of the time. However, overall it was an enjoyable family stay.

This used to be a very nice hotel. Stayed here for one night. Got off to an ominous start when I turned up to check in and the front desk had no record of my reservation. Apparently the prepaid reservation I made through Expedia for which I had obtained a confirmation was not 'sent' to the Trident system. Took a while for the hotel to sort this out and check me in. The technology woes of the hotel were further in evidence when I was unable to connect to the WiFi system with my MacBook. The tech guy who came to help struggled as well. His advice to me was to use a Windows machine, as all Apple products have a problem with the hotel WiFi. Once I finally connected, I found that the WiFi speed was reminiscent of the 56k dial-up modem days. Web pages refused to load. So I tried to use the LAN cable for a wired connection, and was told that the hotel LAN system is not working.

Apart from getting a forced digital detox, I also found the aircon system highly erratic. It would suddenly stop during the night, the room would become stuffy, and then a good half hour later it would restart full blast. Couldn't get more than a couple of hours of sleep. Had an early start the next morning, went to the lobby lounge for breakfast at 6.30 am. Tables had not been cleared of used dishes of previous guests, so I tried to catch a waiters' attention - two elderly waiters were hiding behind the counter trying their best to ignore me. Finally got hold of a harassed looking young lady, who got me an incomplete cutlery set, sans a spoon. Anyway, it didn't matter since when I went to the buffet table the dishes were empty - almost all the fruit platters were cleaned out. I had to once again summon a waiter to get the buffet topped up.

I remember staying in this hotel frequently in the old days. All the old staff are gone, the newer staff don't seem that well trained and it shows up in the deteriorated service levels in their restaurants. You can get better value elsewhere for the price of this hotel.

I have travelled to Mumbai many times as a teen and in my twenties. I always went on tours around Mumbai. The Trident and adjoining Oberoi hotel always caught my eye and stood out, I would get a feeling of nostalgia and think of Indian movies from the 70's and 80's. I said to myself one day I will stay there. December 2019 was that year. We were a family of 6, with four children under 11. The hotel was very busy, lots of people were checking in and out. Check-in was actually quick and smooth. Initially we wanted connecting rooms, but they connecting room was not available. The desk agent Ramaika visited our room and tried her best to get us a connecting room. We were surprised to find that we were upgraded to the Presidential Suite. The initial rooms that we had were facing the Arabian sea, with amazing views across the bay. I was a little worried when I saw the glass panel separating the bathroom and living area, however there was a button in the bathroom that brought down a privacy screen. The Presidential Suite was great. It was a two bedroom apartment with panoramic views from three sides of the building. The beds were great and comfy, the linen was clean. Again the views were breathtaking. We used the swimming pool, the sunbeds were clean and well maintained. There was a life guard on duty, complimentary mineral water was provided to guests at the pool side. There was a variety of food to choose from for breakfast, ranging from Indian to western. The idli's were divine, also I would recommend the paneer dishes. We ordered room service several times. The quality of the food was very good. As we were kids they wanted their home comforts, luckily there was a small mall behind the hotel which had a McDonalds outlet, There was also a food court which a variety of food outlets such as Subway, a pizza place, traditional thali, south Indian and desserts. There is also a cinema there if you want to catch the latest movie. The nearest supermarket is a 10-15minute walk away. You can easily get a cab from the hotel or behind it. The Wankhede cricket stadium is a 10 minute walk. Many people stroll along the seafront opposite the hotel. Generally we felt safe. We have to pass though security scanners to get into the hotel. Overall it was a great experience.

This was our first stay at the hotel and the experience was wonderful. Attentive staff at all levels(check in, room, restaurants, porters, check out), immaculate rooms that are cleaned thoroughly every day, Great location - close to sea promenade for walking, short taxi ride to shopping and restaurants, and great views of the city.
Will stay again here next year.

We had a wonderful time at the Trident, Nariman Point. The hotel lobby was beautiful and very elegant. The young woman that checked us in was knowledgeable and efficient, escorting us up to our room upon completion of the check-in process. Our room was spacious and well-appointed with a commanding view of the Arabian Sea-truly a sight to behold. My only complaint about the room was that there were no USB ports for phone charging, but I am sure that will be corrected in the near future. Jacinta, the housekeeper that worked on our room during our stay, was amazing, leaving freshly cut roses in our room the first morning.
The Opium Den, which is the name of the lobby bar, was very comfortable with a warm and attentive staff. I took a chance and ordered a martini one afternoon and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I would certainly recommend the Trident if you will be staying in Mumbai for its location and its comfort.

We have had a 3 night stay here on our 3 week tour of India. I couldn’t say enough good about the hotel...from arrival at Reception on the 1st night to our leaving today ALL STAFF IN ALL AREAS of the hotel were most welcoming and helpful. The food in the Frangipani restaurant was true 5* standard - we ate breakfast and dinner on all 3 days there and the staff in this restaurant were all so helpful efficient and friendly. This all gave us a great feeling for and love of Mumbai for our short stay. My wife and I would highly recommend this hotel if you plan to stay in Mumbai, prices too were extremely reasonable for a hotel of this standard.

I stayed at the Trident (Nariman Point) in July 2019. The stay was excellent, as I had expected it. Very classy, attentive service. Literally next to the Oberoi Hotel, which you can also enjoy (for restaurants and swimming pool); the Trident room prices are lower. The location of the hotel is very convenient - in the south of the city, next to the Arabian Sea. You feel very safe and pampered inside the hotel and outside too, thanks to the Trident staff, including its housekeeping department which was most dedicated towards its guests. I highly recommend the hotel, to business travelers and families alike.

This truly is a fine hotel and the location is great for strolling on Marine Drive, when the air quality isn't terrible.

We happen to be visiting on the three worse air quality days of 2019.
Can't blame Trident for that.

One minor thing that management should address is the men's steamroom.

It needs the mats inside and out changed more often and a good hosing down on a more frequent basis.
