We stayed here for 2 nights on our Golden Triangle trip - the owner is a great character and made us so welcome with some great tales and advice - our room was amazing and on the night we arrived there was a puppet show by an old couple which was lovely we ate here on our first night and...

My daughter and I stayed for the long Christmas weekend, and felt very welcome. The staff were incredibly kinds, and made several efforts to provide us a warm Christmas experience - a pepper tree decorated with lights, chocolates on Christmas Eve. Our room was very comfortable and spacious, and the hotel was conveniently located just outside the city walls. Both...

This hotel is an absolute escape from the hustle and bustle of Jaipur. The hosts were extremely friendly and loved explaining their family history. Our room was very large and was beautiful. They kept so much of the old palace and we really loved that part. The service from everyone was superb. Nothing was ever too much and they were...

I can't really add anything more than what has been said before other than to totally agree with all of the previous glowing reviews. A really special experience and an oasis of tranquillity away from the hustle and bustle of Jaipur. You must try and stay here if you can as you won't regret it and it could well be...

We spent 3 nights at this hotel and really enjoyed our stay. It's a change from staying in a typical hotel. You are greeted by the owner, encouraged to attend the traditional marionette show at 7:00 and the staff are very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast is ordered a-la-carte so you have to provide an idea of what time you wish...

Staying here made a change from staying in impersonal rooms, but we're still afforded our privacy. It was lovely to be greeted by the owner and given a brief history of the house. We stayed in the latest rooms which had been renovated. The wash room facilities were first class. Internet available, but kept dropping out. The food was fantastic,...

A fabulous old aristocratic house, and an oasis from the bustle of the city. We were warmly welcomed by the owner, Mrs Singh, who shared some of her fascinating family history with us. A large and luxurious room, a commendable commitment to being as environmentally sustainable as possible (down to the home generated organic fuel generation), good food taken in...

We were made to feel welcomed from the minute we walked into the courtyard. Our rooms were fabulous, very spacious and beautiful. The courtyard makes a perfect location for a relaxed meal. A wonderful family operated Haveli close to the old city.

We absolutely loved Dera Mandawa! When you arrive the owner treats you to tea and a dose of history on his family's home. The rooms are GORGEOUS and spacious. We also loved the open air dining in the courtyard. Breakfast was the best of our trip with traditional porridge and Indian courses as well as eggs to order and toast....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A lesser-known fact about Rajasthani monuments is that rarely were forts, palaces and havelis (large residences) constructed at one go. Each generation added new wings, rooms and arches in an architectural style prevalent during its time. DeraMandawa has also seen such an evolution, as the Mandawa family constantly kept extending the residence over the years. Thakur Durga Singh, the current custodian of DeraMandawa is a keen observer of history, culture, religion, current affairs, and is a bank of knowledge so vast that he has a point of view on anything under the sun. He is what one could call a modern traditionalist, actively seeking the use of modern technology and methods to support the principles of traditional living. The inquisitive can have endless conversations with him on a number of his projects like rain -water harvesting, biogas plant, solar heating and, even, healthy cooking. He would be more than delighted to share his experiences with you. ... more   less
