Chatakpur village situated within Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary of Darjeeling is a lovely little place to stay. We reached there on a March morning and was surprised to find close to zero degree temperature. We had a distant view of the Kanchenjunga on the northern side of the Eco village. The resort has a viewing tower which can be reached after...

Now let's set the expectations clear...no there isn't any fancy hotel or any room service at the drop of your hat. There are no gift shops or restaurants around either. To be exact, this place is in the middle of Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary which remains closed b/w June 15th to Sept 15th due to breeding season of leopards (yup u...

I never imagined that there can be a place like Chatakpur village in a small town like Sonada. This is one of the best places in North Bengal. From Sonada take a left turn (if coming from Kurseong) and then a journey of half an hour will take yo to this heaven. The Eco Village hut is costly, however the...

It is a picturesque cottage amidst a jungle. we had e very short but a very memorable stay here. The location is beautiful. Staffs are good. Fooding is average as Chatakpur is a very remote place. It is also a Paradise for the bird watchers. Best time to visit is November.

We started our journey from Rishyap. Our driver did not know the place. So instead of taking diversion from sonada, he took some other road through a jungle. We did not find any single person in this jungle to ask the route. We ourselves opened a chekpost gate to proceed further :). And we did not know where we are...

My trip to Chatakpur was better than I imagined! I went with my family, and we occupied 3 of the 4 rooms of the eco-huts. The rooms very spacious, clean, and comfortable. The only issue were the leaky geysers in the bathrooms, but I'm really nit-picking here. The food is cooked by the villagers, who come from their homes and...
