I am Dr. Shamimul Moula, Ph.D. MPH. MBBS, Dhaka Bangladesh (+8801712275061) When I was brought to this hotel, instantly I became surprised with its old but charming and exiting "possible" history, situation and myths which are surely not known to the present owner and other nearby population! The superb old house where this hotel is now situated seemed to me... More

I have stayed in this guest house in 2010 when I visited Kolkata. It was decent amongst the numerous bad places to stay at and around Sudder Street. The room was OK but little expensive. My experience was not satisfactory so I chose to stay there again in 2014. However, my experiences this time was not what I expected from... More

I stayed here after a bad experience at Sunflower guesthouse, happy to get a good place closer to New Market. The place was relatively quiet at night, considering it is right on Sudder Street, except for a loud generator of the new hotel next door. The rooms are huge, allmost too big, but okay for a few nights. I had... More

Let's start by saying that Kolkata is a very run-down city overall, with hundreds of fine old buildings in advanced states of decrepitude. The city's Communist government ties everything up in red tape (no pun intended) and makes it hard for new hotels to get permits. That means that many dingy old places remain in business, charging over-the-odds prices for... More

This is a family run homely place for budget travelers. Its clean very central and pocket friendly. They have nice air conditioned rooms with tea and coffee / kettle attached bathroom. Its a old colonial British building almost heritage so rooms are rather large and bathrooms are huge with hot water. Its 3 minutes walk to New market , 10... More

I arrived with some friend in Kolkata and after few fully booked hotel, we stopped at this one. It had kind of positive comment on lonely planet. But the reality was much more different. the place was super dirty, toilet broken and the mattress was packed with bedbugs....I left the next day!! Terrible and dirty place, avoid if you can.

I went there at the end of March. My company booked three rooms.Mine was the biggest one, a giant room at the 3rd floor, for which i paid 1500 roupies. I liked the simple but atmospheric furnitures-overall there was an amiable nostalgic atmosphere in the place. However, after a small siesta, i woke up with 5-6 huge bites, which at... More

This was my 3rd visit to kolkata, and the stay in this hotel has made it memorable for us. They have old, but giant rooms. These rooms come with huge bathroom with all modern fittings, lobby space and kitchen. You also have supply of purified drinking water, and tea/coffee arrangement within the room. Feels very homely. Though the building and... More

I arrived in Kolkata and literally looked round a dozen places, taking two hours to find the right room. So many places are dingy, dirty, gross, and none seem to have any outside space like a balcony. Then I came across Tourist Inn. Staff were great, I asked for a balcony and they showed me their downstairs room, double ben,... More
