If you want to enjoy the beach, not very expensive, reasonble accomodations, and you are not going to use wi-fi, pc services and stuffs, it is a good choice. This is a hotel with fair rate, but you must demmand a room with a view to the beach (better say you wnat a room with FRONT VIEW to the beach) to make it really works.

The breakfast is very good and with good, butt the room service is awfully expensive. My advise: there is a supermarket very close to the hotel. Bye bottled water, juice, snacks, wathever you are used to drink or eat during the night , bye these stuffs and take it to your room. A cup of "mineral" water is 4 times more expensive in Jangadeiro.

We stayed two nights in early March. The location is great. The hotel is located right on Boa Viagem beach, a 10 minute taxi ride from the airport, and within walking distance from some nice/trendy restaurants and bars. Breakfast is very good. They offer a good variety of fruits, pastries, hot and cold dishes. The breakfast room is in a sunny space, right at street level across from the beach. The rooms are spacious and clean, but are definitely in need of an upgrading. We noticed that the sheets/towels had stains on them and that they appear to be in need of replacement. We thought the front desk staff were very helfpul. The hotel provides complimentary wi-fi, beach towels and chairs. It also has a rooftop pool, but it was closed and dirty when we were there in early March (which surprised us). We had a high floor room with a balcony facing the beach, which offers great views of Boa Viagem beach. This is definitely worth paying a bit extra for, as it is one of the highlights of this hotel. I would say this hotel is a 2.5-star for USA standards, but given the poor hospitality landscape of Recife, it's about 3.5. For what's available in Recife, it's a decent deal and I would recommend it.

Nice to get the refurbished room, with beach views.
The breakfast is decent and the internet is fast.
Convenient having two entrances, both at the beach as well as in the backstreet.
We would stay here again.

This is the first time in many years of travel that I asked to have a room changed. The bathroom smelled of sewage, light in bathroom and hairdryer not working, faucet leaked, sink didn't drain, toilet seat too loose to sit on, unless your arms were 4 ft. long, you had to get up to reach the TP. no bathmat, floor so slippery we had to put towels down to walk on it.

Bathroom smelled of sewage which is why I changed rooms. Neither bathroom light nor hairdryer worked. The floor, when wet was too slippery to walk on; it required 4 foot arms to reach the TP which was hung across the room from the toilet. The faucet dripped, the toilet seat was almost too loose to sit on safely, the door didn't close. There were NO hangers, the beds were wooden platforms with a 2" foam pad, sheets, pillowcases were spotted and the "mattress" cover was very dirty. The wooden slats on the frame could easily be felt through the
foam Mattress. The second room was better, but not what I would recommend. Location was excellent.

Thanks to some greedy entrepreneurs, Recife has lost almost all of its enchantment over the past decades. The boom times of the seventies and eighties are over. Money could be made much too easily during this period, so hotel complexes popped out of the ground like mushrooms. When recession struck in the nineties, their budget did not allow for remodeling or modernizing the properties any more. So many of them are quite run down now, especially those at beachfront. If you want a decent hotel room in Recife, you are better off if you look for a place located a few blocks backward. Since the local hotel industry did no longer adhere to international standards, the number of foreign tourists decreased drastically over the years. Nowadays, Recife caters mostly for Brazilian tourists. Foreigners are barely tolerated, but you will never feel really welcomed by the locals. On the other side, many Brazilians who have traveled abroad are familiar with international standards now, so even they will not take everything for granted as before.

At the three-star rated Jangadeiro Hotel, there has been visibly A LOT of patchworking done. I booked a “luxury” room for a room rate comparable to that of a four-star facility. My room was quite what you can expect from a three-star hotel. I had a loose toilet seat and some minor imperfections like stained bed sheets and temporary hot water shortage. Many of the Brazilian tourists however complained about their standard rooms. Staff was friendly and quite cooperative. I would not recommend their dinner buffet, however. If you like soggy pizza, just go for it. Otherwise, there is a nice dinner alternative at Galetus just a few blocks away, or at Plim, which is located inside the Shopping Center Recife, also within walking distance. Breakfast buffet at Jangadeiro was quite acceptable, only at the beginning of my stay all their coffee cups were dirty. The dishes are very small in size, which may be a policy of the management in order to keep their guests from eating too much. Of course, this does not look very generous. My stay at Jangadeiro was overall satisfactory, but much too high priced for the hotel category. Not really a good value for the money! If you don’t mind walking or driving a few blocks, you are better off if you stay at one of the newer hotels, some distance away from the beach.

As I stayed already 4 times in Jangadeiro, I booked this year again a hotel room for 4 nights. Unfortunately it seems, that they changed the owner and it's just getting worse. I ordered a kingsize bed, there was no kingsize bed, but two single beds. After I asked for a kingsize bed, they gave me a key to a room with 4 single beds. And it was not because they didn't understand me, I'm a nativ portugues speaker. The bathroom was dirty and obviously not cleaned befor we checked in. The breakfast was just miserable. Not even fresh fruit juice was available, you had to take it from a machine. This was the last time I stayed there, and I would never recommend this hotel. Even we had bad service there, they were not interested to convince us from the opposite. The only good think is that the hotel is really good located and if you have a room with sea view it's very nice view.

The room and the beds are good, but there were some things that were just impossible to look away from.
The bathroom door was actually splitting in half, and wouldn't close. A lot of water would often come out of the drain out in the veranda (which was really small). It made a lot of noise and, when I complained about it, the staff told me it was "normal" and happened whenever they switched on the pool machinery.
The bathroom main lighting was out, so I had to use the small mirror light, which was really dim.
The room door was sticking to the door frame and demanded heavy pushes in order to open/close it.

Bathroom is terrible. Rooms which final number is 10 have terrible view -all you see is the next building from a very small balcony. Beach (Boa Viagem) in front of the hotel has sharks, so avoid baths. Hotel is old and needs to be taken care. Elevator smels bad.

Stay there 3 days last September.
The hotel is nothing special, need some refresh and the rate was very high at the time of my stay.
Rooms are just ok, internet worked perfectly.
I assume that I had the best omelette for sometime there at breakfast.
Staff is friendly and helpful.
Great location in Boa Viagem.

This is a 3 stars hotel in Boa Viagem, Recife. It´s a very good location, near the beach, but the beach isn´t very nice. They provide towels for the beach, but not umbrellas. Breakfast is included, it´s average. The pool is in the roof, very small, and up to 7 p.m. The rooms are normal, no king size beds, just twins put together. If you go with car, keep in mind that garage is very small, and you´ll probably have to park on the street Boa Viagem. Service is good, people are kind and friendly, but they don´t speak spanish or english. The wifi is good in all the hotel and is free.
