Of all the 4-5 star hotels we stayed at during our February 2024 tour of the Northeast Brazil, Villa d'Oro near Olinda was the plainest, least memorable experience.
Small rooms, basic breakfasts, cheap furniture, a miniature pool, and minimum service sums it all up.

Ironically, Villa D' Oro charged us more than other really nice hotels and resorts that we stayed at in Recife, Praia Pipa and Natal, likely because of the Olinda carnival, which was happening while we visited.

Villa D'Oro is just an OK place to sleep and that's that, no value enhancement, not even smiles at the front-desk and definitely an overpriced basic hotel that we would likely not be staying at again now that we have discovered less expensive resorts that offer so much more value.

Take it for what it is, just a small, clean, safe hotel that offers a 2-3 star experience, and as long as you have no great expectations, you would he ok with it.

Hotel has an excellent location, allowing easy access to practically all of Recife's attractions. We needed to request a room change because the one they gave us had an unbearable smell of cigarettes. They promptly responded to our request. The breakfast was within expectations, considering the price range.

Hotel outside the classic hotel region of Recife. We stayed in this region because it would serve us in restaurants that we would like to visit and because it is also close to ground zero and other tourist attractions.
The attendants were very helpful, we entered the room well before check-in as the room was already free.
We found it clean and honest for the high season price.
There is parking, we didn't take the car out for anything, we took an Uber every day.
The breakfast is satisfactory, quite ok for the price per night.
I consider the hotel to be for a few days and for those who don't want to invest a lot in accommodation in the region, it is ideal for those who need a place just for a shower and a night's sleep after a day full of tourist stops in Recife.

It was a great experience. The reason for my stay was to spend Carnival, as there was a Carvalheira party nearby. I loved the room, very functional. Super complete breakfast. The service provided by the Hotel staff was very kind. The carnival decoration was beautiful. I recommend Villa D'Oro.

Simple hotel that meets the requirements for comfort, location, hygiene and staff service. The beds are very comfortable. Nice bath. Large room (701). Helpful service. I noticed that it is very popular with people who travel for work. The only thing I could say to improve is the breakfast, as there isn't that much variety. The omelets on the dinner menu are delicious. Parking is paid. The gym is small but well equipped. I highly recommend it.

Overall, the hotel has a good structure and location, but there are many maintenance and management flaws:

- Staff (almost all) are not friendly and do not treat guests well. We arrived as a family, with lots of suitcases, and no employee was willing to help us. We had to carry all our bags without any help, while employees sat watching.

- Gym needs maintenance. It only has one treadmill and it was in no condition for use.

- Swimming pool was dirty.

- Cleaning service starts very early in the rooms. As soon as breakfast ends at 10am, the maids start knocking on the room doors.

- Breakfast is collected promptly at 10am. The problem is that they don't give any warning to guests who are eating at the time. They simply start removing things, without even informing them that they are closing the cafe or asking if anyone still wants to help themselves to an item.

Good coffee, bathroom with odor cleaner, good facilities, good room; restaurant 2 nights only until 8:30 pm (when it was supposed to be until 10 pm), good service, I had to ask for a cloth for the bathroom floor from the maid. Broken toilet shower head. Smart TV disconnecting from wifi. Small but good gym.
