The hotels in Recife all seem to be pretty utilitarian, and Hotel Manibu Recife is no exception, but it offers very good value compared to some other hotels that are quite similar. For $50 USD a night my room was clean and functional, with a small view of the ocean through some buildings. The lobby is nicely decorated but the attached restaurant is drab. The rooftop pool area has a nice view but is rather small. The point of all these qualified statements that I am making is that basically, for $50 a night you are getting a clean room with a utilitarian bathroom and shower, which is a pretty good deal for the area. My room at the Radisson was basically the same (minus the balcony at the Radisson) but cost twice as much. Some high points to the Hotel Manibu are that the front desk clerk spoke excellent English, and there is a good restaurant called Entre Amigos on the beach in close walking distance. A low point of this hotel is that I did not see any other restaurants open in close walking distance (others have said there are some, but I walked around and didn't see anything open besides Entre Amigos). Anyway, if you don't want to pay top dollar for a hotel on the seafront this is a very reasonable choice.

We had a great time at Kastel Manibu. The location is excellent, only 2 blocks from the beach. The staff is very friendly and helped us to rent a car for the following day (daytrip to Maragoji - which was amazing!)
Rooms were silent and very clean. Gym is basic but there is enough equipment for a decent workout. Breakfast was delicious, lots of options and all very fresh.
Would definitely stay here again when travelling to Recife!

The hotel is very nice. Well located, especially if you want to go to the beach. The public areas are well-maintained and kept clean. Breakfast is great: lots of choice and lots of food. I didn't use the pool area, but it looks great. Internet was very good. Staff were very nice and some speak English.

I stayed for 2 nights with my wife. Since she was sick, we only stayed in the hotel.

The room was really comfortable with 2 double beds. This was also necessary for us, because she needed her own bed.

Nice Flat TV with international channels. Many channels also available on English.

Also the staff was very nice and helpful. We needed to go to the hospital and they supported us really well.

At night we went on the roof top, to relax a bit. From there we could also have a look at the beach.

I stayed at the Best Western Manibu about 3 weeks ago. It is a very decent 2 to 3-star hotel. It is two blocks from Boa Viagem, has a small pool and bar on the roof, very nice employees, and the breakfast was very good. The rooms are very basic but served all my needs. Like many other hotels outside of the US, you can only turn on the A/C and lights if the room key is inserted into the power switch (great idea for conserving energy). If you only need a hotel to sleep, shower, and get some breakfast, it is good pick. If you have to be ON the beach and want a 4 or 5-star place, look elsewhere.

We came to Recife after a short stay in Salvador at the Ibis there. It was like night and day, we very much enjoyed the Manibu, starting with the friendly service. At Ibis, they did not have anyone who spoke english but I speak just enough Portugeuse to get the room. But the service stunk in any language, ask for a reservation for a restuarant, they give you a phone # and tell you to go to room. At the Manibu, they were great. The room was nice, clean and best of all, included wifi that did work most of the time. It had a great b'fest, even tho I only eat fruit and eggs, they had a great spread. You folks gave it #2 rating, and as a hotel in the city, it was well deserved, it was not a resort with grounds and swimming pool (they had a small on on roof), but in great part of Boa Viagem--near 2 very good restuarants, Mingus and E which are must go tos. So we stronly recommend it, and bonus, if senior, there is 10% off.

The company I work for just recently started its operation in this part of Brazil so we were sending people over constantly for the past two months. We have tried more then a dozen hotels in Recife and I can say that they all follow the city standards: dirty and not well maintained. The Best Western is a good choice in comparison to the rest of the business hotels in Recife but I do have to warn you: the rooms are really small, the water smells really bad (bleach or something) and there is just too much noise in the streets, so you may want to ask for a room facing the back of the hotel. Apart from that, since the hotel is new, is one of the best we could find. As you may know, Recife is not a safe place to walk around and I must say that around this hotel is specially unsafe. You will be at the end of Boa Viagem beach, which is the beginning of the slum neighborhood. Be careful not to wonder around at night on your feet. Good place to eat: "Espetus" BBQ. Excellent.

With reference to the hotel size rooms, we would like to inform you that there are standard and luxury rooms. The last ones are very large with two double beds with a little amount added in its price. The standard rooms are about 15 m2 which is a very common size for the hotels like this, a Best Western international hotel chain with top quality assessment every year since the opening, 1994 . All room pictures can be seen at our web page as they realy are. It means that no surprise should be expected if the guests look at our home page. The hotel surrounding is a quite good area for living and shopping. Besides it is plenty of restaurants at walking distance. Nevertheless we like to advise our clients that some aditional care is adviseable for their personal belongings, as they should have take if they were in any big city, anywere in the world. Indeed, there is no guest complaint about safe on going walking nearby for quite long time. A very good water quality is provided to the guests. For your information, some guests may feel the chloride smell which is due to the quantity of chloride added to the water, request by the state regulation. I am glad to understand that the remaining aspects of the guest stay were all right. Sincerely, Milda Matos Kruger General Manager Best Western Manibu Recife

This hotel (located about 2 blocks from the beach) provides good value for the rate charged. (In December 2008 I paid about US$75 per night.) I stayed in 2 different rooms – one was rather cramped but did have an ocean view; the other was very spacious but had no view. As at most Brazilian hotels a buffet breakfast is included – it was quite good. The hotel has a small pool on the top floor of one of its buildings. The rooms and public areas of the hotel are clean and well maintained – and the air conditioning in the rooms works very well. The hotel staff is friendly -- some speak English. This is a good choice for accommodations in Recife at a moderate price.

Best Western is known for its standard rooms and service. We chose this hotel, as my 2 colleagues and I were visiting Recife for a conference. The check in was smooth, though there was only one English speaking staff. It was a struggle to explain how I wanted my eggs done every morning at the restaurant..till I found out the portugese word for the same. However, it is a friendly hotel and the staff make you feel welcome. The rooms are spacious and good for having small meetings. We got a corner room away from the sea...and therefore had very poor wifi signal. We ended up in another colleague's room which was right next to the router in the corridor. Location is excellent as it was just a 2 minute walk from the beach. Checkout and cabs were easy, as everyone knew Manibu hotel.

Boa tarde!
