The hotel on the whole is ok, I had no major problem. The room is of decent size, adequately furnished; the bathroom perhaps a little small. The day-to-day cleaning is ok (the cleaning ladies are very nice), however my room was in need of a special cleaning, as there were corners and things with encrusted dirt (the window, the hairdrier plug, ...). I had no problem with the internet connection. Breakfast is standard for a Brazilian hotel, no issue about that. The restaurant serves a buffet dinner of rather ordinary quality, but it is cheap. Of course the location is great, in front of the Boa Viagem beach, especially if you have a seaview, which I did not have. A few good restaurants at a walking distance. Spent 285 reais per night, not on the cheap side for an altogether average experience.

I've stayed at this hotel a couple of times, and plan to keep going there. Not the fanciest place in town, but good. Location is excellent: literary across the street from the Boa Viagem beach (not in the old city).

I've stayed both in the smaller and larger rooms. The extra money for the larger rooms is definitely worthwhile. Much larger and brighter rooms, with a view of the beach rather than the next building over (which is very close).

The rooms are clean (tile floors) and overall service is good. They recently installed internet jacks (at least in the bigger room I had). Service is free, but bring your own cable. Bring a longer cable and extension chord, so you don't have to drag the granite desk around or sit on the floor. Outlets are mix of European/US style (not grounded), 220V.

The breakfast in the hotel is very nice, with fruit, bread, eggs, and local warm dishes.

There are some good restaurants within walking distance. There's a lot of activity on the boardwalk in the evening which makes it safe to walk around.

the hotel is well located on the Boa Viagem road, which has a lot of very good restaurants and bars. Even if they are very close and the Boa Viagem road is one of the safest in Recife, at night i highly recommend to take a cab (i've been robbed with a friend just a few meters from the hotel, on the way to the restaurant). just cross the (very busy) road in front of the hotel to be on the beach, but pay attention to sharks. it is not recommended to bath there, especially at high tide. other than that, the hotel is average. nothing exceptional, but clean and confortable. not worth its 4 stars at a European standard. You should request a lock for the in-room safe at the reception. sometimes, they don't have any left!! personnel barely speaking a few words in English!

After moving from the totally overpriced Mercure Recife Metropolis I got a somewhat cheaper (but still too expensive) refurbished room in this hotel. What a disappointment! The room is nothing special and small. I do not want to see the "not refurbished" rooms. Internet was poor. The problem is that Recife has no good hotels which are worth paying the rates they are asking for. I am really curious how this city wants to cope with the Soccer World Cup in 2014 when Recife wants to be a host city. Poor hosts....
One good thing: the fish dish from the room service was delicious!

Old hotel with a terrible view althoug its located in front of Boa Viagem beach. The rooms smell bad, noisy in the morning, dirty pool, no extra towels, no beach service. Roaches on the room. Choose another one.

Front desk asked me to pay all the nights up front, at check-in. Not a good start.

Most rooms are smoking rooms, only one floor has non-smoking rooms, I understand. Room not worth the price they charge.
Good breakfast. Well-located, not far from airport.

If you are a business traveller or if you are on a leisure travel but and you want to stay in a big city with all structure (restaurants , supermarkets, malls) - this is the right place. If you want a resort to stay hanging out with your family this is not the right place.
This hotel is located at Boa Viagem Beach - in one of the best points of this beach . There are several very good restaurants and bars in a walking distance (beteween 1 and 3 blocks) . Some of the restaurants and bars that I can mention are Bar da Praia , Boteco , Parraxaxa (regional cousine). There is also a very nice ice cream store called Italian Fredo . You also can easily take a taxi in the hotel to go to Olinda (paying $17) or Recife Antigo (paying $7 ) . The hotel is confortable (not fancy as already wrote in other comment) , it is very clean , the staff is helpfull . They have a good breakfast (not the best you can find in Brazil , but with a lot of regional food) . The swimming pool in the roof is clean but is very small - consider it for 1 hours but not to spend a lot of hours, this hotel is a gret place to sleep and to be well located but not a hotel to spend the day. We travelled with a baby - there is no baby copa , but the restaurant staff helped out with our necessities .

I waited months to write this review to be able to give a balanced account. This is a good hotel in many respects. But, I had a problem with my reservation. I paid for a large room and they had a small room in their system. The way they behaved was despicable. I had the paperwork that showed that I had made the reservation I said. They tried to bully me by putting the luggage in the wrong room. They lied saying that the category of room in my reservation didn't exist, when it's actually listed on their wall. At some point there were four male managers behind the counter trying to bully me. My luck is that I had a friend with me, a lawyer, who recited my rights to him. Only then they did the right thing. So, all in all, friendly until they mess up. I don't plan to go back.
