Safe, quiet, convenient neighborhood. Ten-minute walk to the beach and close to all amenities, including a 24-hour gas station/cafe/convenience store a block or so away and a supermarket and a hipermart within easy walking distance. Cozy, clean room with balcony (I slept in the hammock there on nights when it wasn't too muggy), AC, minifridge, lockable closet and safe box. Beautiful tropical courtyard with lots of sitting areas. Nice pool. Good breakfast buffet -- nothing fancy, but it didn't skimp. Host was perfectly willing to store my bags for free before my airport transfer. I paid an average of US$26 a night for nine nights in the low shoulder season (first half of May), when the beachfront tourist hotels were charging double that. Only cat-veat (sorry): This would not be a good place for anyone with cat allergies. But if you like kitties, there's a friendly pride of them on the premises.

Great value for money -great location!

Lovely clean rooms - AC, fan, fridge, TV, english channels, hot showers!

Sunny swimming pool.

Lovely English speaking owners - happy to help with any queries...

24 hour reception.

Located on a quiet side street next to a supermarket and petrol station - a safe place to walk back from the bus stop at night.

Just off a busy bus route in and out of the centre of Recife and to the airport.

Couldn't have asked for more and would have happily stayed longer...

A great location for carnival - just out of the centre but only a short bus ride into the action.

Ladies and gentlemen, travel to Recife, a highly visited city in Brazil's summer, and look for accommodations. Seek them with various thoughts in mind: cleanliness, service, location, and more. We each have our own priorities.

Mine included finding an affordable, clean place with Wifi that was reasonably located. We can always find a padaria or something else if we need breakfast. We can walk a few blocks or take a taxi to get to the beaches or restaurants.

We were in the center of Recife in the summer so it was already going to be a little pricier. I found this place after a recommendation by a buddy and lots of searching (I search obsessively because of all my travels). I booked it mistakenly booking it for a single person. I canceled though they had a no-cancel policy. They let me cancel. They didn't have to. However, we called after and explained that we really wanted to stay but I goofed. They were very flexible about it.

My fiancé arrived before me, complaining of the very hard bed and not very fancy accomodations. I arrived a bit later and could not believe how hard the bed was (funny as another complained of a too soft bed). We spent 2 nights, not knowing how long we'd stay.

Was breakfast fancy? No. It had the basics in a comfortable, outside area. Were there sufficient options? Yes, easily. There were no eggs but I heard someone ask and she got her eggs. We met some nice people who were also vacationing in the eating area. There were breads and cakes and cheeses and yogurt and juices and coffee and tea and....get it? Someone said that "breakfast lacks creativity." What on earth are you expecting, especially for one of the least expensive places in town? What do you need for creativity? Go to the Intercontinental Hotel Indonesia rather than the cheapest pousada in Recife if you need creativity for breakfast. I'd rather save $300/night for a "lack of creativity" breakfast.
A review went on to complain about the price: "the price, around USD 70, in my opinion is too high for what is offered (but I know that Recife, being a very business oriented town, has high hotel rates)." Another said something about "not a great location." Ok, it wasn't beachfront but again, it was 1.5 blocks off a main road (read: quieter) and within a 5 minute walk of restaurants, shops, supermarkets, and about 8 minutes from the beach. Bad location? Seriously? If you want beachfront, pay for it and stop whining about the $300/night USD you saved.

You just said you know it's expensive there then went on to quote a price that was likely the least expensive you will find. Hello? On that note, I paid less probably because it wasn't quite the highest season. Many reviews say "Otimo custo beneficio." I agree completely. For the money spent, we got a nice, comfortable (other than the bed and very cheap sheets), good service, fairly well-located pousada. There's even a pool! The Wifi worked without any issues and the speed was even quite good.

There are animals - cats, dogs, parrt, tortoises, etc. Those who complain about the animals frankly shouldn't go. I'm allergic to cats and had ZERO trouble. The animals, in our opinion, added to the natural-ish setting with the plants and trees and....
There are nice sitting areas if you just want to hang out and read or chat. There are hammocks in front of some of the rooms.

The owners are sisters and one was out of town but Simone took care of us giving us all kinds of tips, help, and suggestions for local eateries, how to get to the beaches, and how to get to our next destination, Porto de Galinhas. She speaks English as well as Portuguese.

This is a very simple place, but in a very sought after neighborhood, Boa Viagem. It's also nice because it seems like a small beach house, with trees in a small courtyard. Besides that: the room aren't big, nor too small, the cleaning of the common areas are not so good (remember that, with trees, there are fallen leaves all the time). The furtiniture is in bad condition (one chair in my room was clearly damaged by fire). The mattress is too soft. The linen is very, very cheap. The breakfast is terrible! And the price, around USD 70, in my opinion is too high for what is offered (but I know that Recife, being a very business oriented town, has high hotel rates). I would not go back, unless there's no other hotel available.

I was stayed there for 5 nights with my mum and sister, in summary not great location, the breakfast lack creativity and the bread selection was always dry, the beds are very uncomfortable and small, do not stay in rooms without a verandah.
the first room we stayed in didn't have a veranda and didn't have much room to unpack our bags or leave them around the room. On the second night the air con was leaking so the following night they moved us to a much bigger renovated room with a verandah which made our stay a little better.
Some of the staff was quite friendly but sometimes you feel like you are staying at someone's house, not in a good way. We asked extra towels and they said no, it's restricted one towel per person.
The hotel is about 3 blocks to the beach, not the nicest beach and there isn't much to do around the hotel. I would definitely pay a little bit more to stay in a hotel in a better location

Great location next to Boa Viagem beach and good restaurants nearby. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Air conditioning and ceiling fan in the room. Free wifi (unstable in the room, but fine even in the garden). They have some nice and quiet pets (probably won't be an issue, even if you don't like them). Breakfast includes local dishes.

Peaceful place just a couple of blocks from the beach and one block from public transport. Shaded tropical courtyard, including live parrot! Simple local handicrafts adorning public places. Wonderful staff, decent breakfast, nice pool. Room was basic, but larger than I had expected; property and room were kept very clean. All-in-all, great value for money. I wouldn't hesitate to return to the property on a future visit to Recife.

Even before we arrived in Brazil, we received tremendous assistance from the two sisters who run this pousada, and they were very pleasant and accommodating upon our arrival. There is a lovely courtyard with several seating areas, plants, whimsical decorations, cats and a tropical bird. The bird whistles a little too much for my taste but did not keep us up at night. Rooms are simple, as is typical in Brazil. Close to beach, great restaurants, and basic services.
