One of the best state parks I have ever visited. With its own beach, pier, golf course, 10 miles of hiking/biking trails, and lots of campground spaces, Gulf State Park top notch. It is an all in one destination. One negative: The park recently closed a through road that led from the campground back to Gulf Shores so getting to...

Thank you for your review. We are very glad you enjoyed the activities that the park offers. Closing Park Road 2 has been a bit of an experience for everyone involved. However the road is now Gopher Tortoise Trail and is part of the trail enhancements that are going to make our trail system an even better experience. Hopefully we...

We used to take the RV down to the campgrounds in Gulf Shores, AL several times a year. This is a very nice, clean campground with five star pads, baths, tennis, pool, biking and hiking and laundry. 👍

Stayed at the park in our Class A Motorhome. Our site was a pull thru on the canal with a great view. Was not very busy because it was very hot and this is the off season. Both nights we were there an alligator floated by within feet of us. One night he started our way so we went back...

If you have an RV or you enjoy camping in a tent, you can't beat the price to stay so close to the beach! We stayed a week in our travel trailer and can't wait to go back! The pool facilities were very clean and well maintained. The bike and walking trails were fantastic and the access to the beach...

Thank you for your review and we are very glad you had a great visit. You will be happy to know that future plans for the park include a much shorter trail and overpass that goes from the campground to the Beach Pavilion area. But, you are correct that we do not charge for parking if you are staying at...

Our group of 7 was looking for someplace to geocache and we stumbled upon this place! There are over 150+ geocaches at the state park and we found 8 of them very easily! The grounds and hiking paths were very well maintained. After geocaching we found the nature center. The lady in the nature center was so friendly. The kids...

Gulf State is one of our favorite campgrounds. In addition to rv sites, they offer cabins (some dog friendly) and primitive camping. Some sites are on the lake. We camped in a travel trailer. The campground itself is clean and well maintained as are the air-conditioned bath houses. The campground is a little over a mile from the park's beach...

Thanks so much for your review. We are very happy you had such a great trip. There really is so much to do here that I think you could plan an entire vacation and never leave the park. The Park has so many new things coming and we hope you come back to experience them all.

We had a great time at Gulf State Park. Our family went for Memorial Day. The beach is about 1/2 a mile away which is perfect. The park has a large swimming pool and a splash pad for the kids. It was a great time to relax. It was our first time there but it will not be our last...

The pavilion is fantastic! It was $6 to park (come and go all day). There were drink machines and clean bathrooms. There was a concession stand but it wasn't open the day we went. We loved it! We will be going back again soon!

I can't say enough for the reservation staff at this park...there was a mix up with our boy scout camping reservation and rather than throwing their hands in the air and saying that they couldn't help us, they worked very, very hard to accommodate all of our needs. I am always impressed with Gulf State Park and I cannot wait...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Approximately 1.5 miles from the white sands of the gulf beaches, Gulf State Park offers a 496-site improved campground including 11 modern bathhouses, pull-thru sites, back-in sites, water front campsites, and ADA accessible sites. Tents are also welcome in our campground. Great for spending time with family and friends, all camping pads are paved and big enough for large RVs with pullouts. All sites have water, sewer and electricity (20, 30, and 50 amp), a picnic table, and pedestal grill. There are laundry facilities and recycling bins located beside the Campstore to accommodate our guests. There are two playgrounds located in the campground. Gulf State Park offers very limited WiFi service and cannot guarantee service. New to Gulf State Park are 11 brand new primitive camping sites that include stone campfire rings, grill tops, and picnic tables. These new sites are nestled among the trees and on the creek, and include access to the bathhouses, playgrounds, and laundry facilities. ... more   less
