Decent place outside the city center. Very insta worthy. You can grab or drive to the Casa del Rio Hotel just 10mins away. There is a huge parking lot at Rm6 per entry. Jonker is just next door. That will save you alot of time.

Room is OK and basic toiletries are provided but the thing that was unacceptable is the toilet. It has mold all over in between those wall tiles where you shower. It should be easy to clean so it's quite obvious it was not scrubbed. Toilet bowl is not clean too. I dreaded going to toilet every time.

Our room was on the ground floor and it gets noisy if you have group of people or children hangs out at the common area. On our second night, we have kids screaming until 11pm. So perhaps you can ask for 1st or 2nd floor rooms instead.

Just be mindful that as the place is quite popular amongst youngster, you can hardly find parking spaces near the hotel. Perhaps the hotel and reserve a few spots just for the ones staying there?

Overall, it's an OK place to stay for a night or two as it is close to city center, affordable and it has alot of insta worthy decoration. I do hope the management takes up the initiatives to clean up the toilets as I do think it's not something hard to do which doesn't involve high cost as I do see recurring reviews on this matter.

Its a boutique hotel and offers a different experience with its quaint-like ambience. Its amidst a row of shoplots that offers lights and sounds at nite for revellers. Plenty of eateries along the two streets made into pedestrian mall.

Parking can be difficult as its off-street and one has to compete with the public.

Hotel reception is on ground floor with rooms up the stairs (climb, yes) on levels 2 and 3. Rooms are generally small but for slightly more, one can get larger rooms.

The hotel decor is intriguing as it takes one’s memory back several decades.

Came here with my family early this month. The receptionist, Ain & co is doing a great job from the time we booked the rooms till check out. This hotel is located not far away from Jonker and they provide free "coool.." shuttle service from hotel to Jonker. There will be a night market at the hotel only on weekends. Kapitan Kongsi is an affordable hotel to stay in Melaka. The room is average.

This a boutique hotel with a Baba Nyonya theme. This is a hotel built-up in a row of 3 storey shop-houses. This is a cosy hotel. It clean but the rooms are a bit on the smaller end. We got the king size bed which was comfortable.
The room is equip with a television set, coffee & coffee making facilities. Most required amenities are available in the bathroom. The shower is very strong.

Generally the hotel is comfortable cosy. However maintenance could be improved. The room was not cleaned after our first night stay.
The auto room key was not working, so I had to use the key.

The main issue is there is no lift to the rooms so you will have to carry your luggage up the stairs if you are on the higher floors. So try to get the lower floors.

Another drawback is that they do not have their own car parks & the public car parks are normally packed especially during the weekends.

first of all, Fatin the reception was very rude and didn't allowed us for early checkin despite there was room available. she was rude and just told us to come back at 2pm-3pm. i mean there is no courtesy human touch and customer service from her. we understand there is protocol we must follow, if only she would tell us nicely and more customer oriented, we wouldn't be so angry. we checkin only at 3pm++.

then came another issue, house keeping open our door with their master card. house keeper name Fahmi. not even knock the door and just open while we was inside. how safe is this hotel? imagine if there is a girl in the room and he entered in it. he then just close the door and run away, i catch him and he say sorry he though no one was in. i mean this type of excuses is not acceptable. housekeeping should know who has check in and not. i feel this hotel is not secured to stay. if can AVOID IT AT ANY cause and go to other hotels. there are hundreds available.

i told the reception that i want to speak to the manager, but even the manager didn't make a personal call to me and send a message to the reception to covey the apology. right from the reception to the house keeper and manager is utterly useless people. stay away from this hotel.!

Pros:
Rooms are clean. Very comfortable and high quality mattress and pillows. Water in shower is strong and hot. Towels are good. toiletries are provided. Behind the lobby there is a very nice lounging area which is decorated very well.
Cons;
Rooms are a bit small. Need transportation. To far to walk anywhere.
No breakfast. There is a karaoke joint nearby which is quite loud on weekends.

But overall for the price it is worth it.

Location was good and the surroundings were lovely. However, was put off by the fact that the toilet had moulds and was not cleaned properly. Not too sure if other areas were cleaned. I believe regardless of price of hotel, cleanliness should be key. Our room was also not cleaned by room service.

Simply love this boutique hotel, value for money and if you are really exploring heritage, culture of Melaka. You must have a look around this hotel! Simply amazed by the interior design and lovely environment as if you are staying in a baba-nyonya or peranakan house. Win gave me a very smooth check in and ensure all my comforts are met. Lovely and caring front officer! Room are clean and toilet amenities are sufficient for my stay. If you are looking for something different, more Melaka arts and culture style of boutique hotels, you will never want to miss this. Location are close to Encore Melaka theatre where you can catch the immersive performance!

Stayed here with my family in Kapitan Kongsi. The exterior of the hotel looks good. We went in check in is ok. However, the room cleanliness is a disappointment. There is still some hair on the bed linen as if they are not changed after the previous guest checked out. There is still urine stain on the toilet bowl. This level of cleanliness is definitely not accepted. They have a restaurant in the hotel and the peranakan food is so so only, not that great.

My husband took us on a family trip and he refused to say where we were going to stay in Melaka. When we arrived, I was surprised to see this beautiful boutique hotel hidden away from the bustling city area. This hotel is done up very well with Peranakan decor as well as objects from the past. It's very quaint and the artefacts in there are great talking points!

We took their suite and it was an excellent choice! Our kid loved the space! The toilet is very spacious and airy. There are no elevators in the hotel so you might want to choose a room on the lower floors if you are traveling with kids or seniors, so intending to shop a lot!

Overall, we're totally in love with this hotel and can't wait to come back again for another vacation.

Hi Jac, the hotel welcomes children of all ages. I brought my family there with my kids as well. The hotel do provide extra beds and baby cots upon request with minimal charges. I had experience with some hotel that don't allow kids below the age of 7 but definitely not at Kapitan Kongsi Hotel. The staff is very helpful and attentive towards younger children. By the way, simce you are from overseas you may want to email them and they can assist to provide somw loxal tours for you amd your family...Hope this helps..
