Hotel's Favourite

For me, hotels are always about more than the bricks and mortar though this hotel scores top marks in those categories too. It's always about the people who work and provide the service that makes a hotel special. The staff who work here are very special.
Let me start with the bricks and mortar part of my review. As the hotel's own description states, this place is quirky. Rooms are larger than in many hotels. I had reserved a Premier King Room and I was very comfortable. Bed was excellent and the sofa was good to sit on after a hard day exploring the streets of this fantastic city.
The in-room decor is different from other places I've stayed in, but it has all the amenities that you would expect at a 4+ star hotel and the price for a room was very good.
WiFi was by far the best of any of the hotels I stayed at during my month in Malaysia.
Check-in was smooth and easy and the included breakfast was excellent with the Nasi Lemak, in my view, being the star and other Malaysian, Chinese and Indian dishes reflecting the diversity of Malaysia. I believe that l had dinner at the in-house restaurant three times during my stay enjoying both the food and the service there. A separate review of the restaurant will follow.
However, all of the above good stuff pales into insignificance when we turn to the staff. Every person I had dealings with from the manager, reception staff and housekeeping made my stay feel exceptional and more like a visit to see loved friends.
As I was checking out, the staff went to the back office and all came out to thank me for staying at their hotel. I'm not ashamed to admit to having a few tears.
Anyway, a massive thank you to Maria, Thivasri, Tariqul and all the staff at Rosa Melaka for making my stay such a joyous one.
See you all next year.

We chose the hotel for its quiet location, good parking and because it looked great in the pictures. We are glad we stayed here!
As we pulled into the large parking lot, we were greeted by a friendly doorman who whisked our bags away. He was very kind and helpful to my wife and I. Having lived in Malaysia for seven years now, this type of service is rarely found and always appreciated.
The check-in process was fast and also pleasant. After driving over 5 hours, I wanted a hot shower and to relax in a comfortable room.
We were thoroughly impressed with the hotel's common areas and unique design elements. But when we opened our room, we both were so pleased with what we saw—a spacious, comfortable room with adequate storage for our numerous bags.
The bed, linens, and pillows were all very comfortable.
The shower was powerful and delivered plenty of hot water, which was a relief after coming from a rustic island hotel.
Sadly, we were only in town for one night and left early, but we will come back and stay longer. Every staff member we came into contact with was friendly and helpful which is rare anywhere.
Thanks for the great experience!

This was the #1 hotel in melaka on tripadvior in august 2020,so,we decided to take a 3D/2N break here
Hotel is a stand-alone block of abt 8 floors(?) located in the heart of melaka.
Ample free parking is available on the ground floor
Lots of restaurants within walking distance
Decor was unique, but seems to be the trend nowadays in malaysia.unpainted and exposed walls...steel shelves instead of conventional wooden wardrobes (lots of pics here on TA)
Checkin was fast and efficient.Overall, all staff very pleasant and courteous
Room was a bit dark but clean and comfy. Not much of a view though
No swimming pool but a small gym on the rooftop.they should develop the rooftop into a bar which would be great
Breakfast (mains from menu + small buffet of pastries/bread/fruits/cereal) was included in the price of abt US$45/night and was decent
Checkout,fast and effiecient too

Overall, hotel was decent and value for money but there is not much to do here and not much outdoor space.A night's stay would be just nice, just for nice for some pics for the gram

Checking in and checking out process is super fast, love it.. the room is very nice and super large, i took family premier with 2 king beds, and the space is very large. Breakfast is typical Malay food and some western food too, they usually serve a breakfast menu that you need to choose and some pastries or juices around the corner. The location is very near with jonker street, not in a walking distance its about 1.5km away. Overall I like the services and facilities here, yoh might find a different experience as it all depends on your subjectivity.

We stayed in 3 deluxe rooms and they were spacious and comfortable with lots of shelvings. Hotel lobbies were instagram worthy. Airconditioning was great and powerful. No great views as we opted for city views that overlook small old buildings and 1 taller abandoned one. City view comes with regular prayers from a nearby mosque that can be heard loudly. Alternative is courtyard view which means you overlook another row of hotel windows acroos the courtyard. Service is good. However we felt that this place is a liitle far from shopping, food and tourist attractions. Although it is walkable to the malls, pavements are disjointed and walking along the sides of the roads pose some hazards and safety risks. We used Grab to move around and waiting time varies. Price wise, it is not great value as our bookings came without breakfast and are appear expensive when compared to KL rates with breakfasts. Nevertheless its decor offers great pictures.

Travelled to Melaka last weekend with my family of 8. Took a while to choose which hotel to stay and decided to go with Rosa as the ' old school ' concept attracts me.
Room : extremely wonderful, spacious, clean and all amenities there. Bathroom clean as well, would have been better if there is bathtub.
Breakfast : Simple and sufficient choices, but probably due to overwhelming crowd and, food ran out fast and staff took quite a while to replenish
Service + Reservation : I am holding a SIngapore Debit card, and there was issue with payment from the card. I used to be in hotel industry, and in fact been in reservation and front desk department. I totally understand if prepayment needed however from my understanding it was not stated on the T&C that card will be deducted. I did whatsapp the team a few times, enquiring on payment mode, room etc but sometimes it was very hard to get a reply. But when it comes to asking for payment and 'indirectly threatening' to cancel my room cause its Non guaranteed, wow you guys seems to be so efficient chasing me. Lucky me my spouse is a Malaysian and has access to transfer money etc. Lastly, I have decided last min to surprise my spouse as our 3 years wedding anniversary was Mid Jan. I asked via whatsapp 6 times on different days and times if there is any arrangement can be done but not once I got a reply. Note that the reply to chase me for payment was in between. And just FYI, I am willing to pay if theres a need to. I finally decide to send email and try my luck and your hotel's Ops Manager replied to me, and with his help and swift reply, the Team managed to arrange some thing beautiful and honestly that already made up to that lil disappointing experience of not replying. I appreciate it . But overall and in short, Rosa Malacca is a must to stay . Keep up the good work to everyone. Definitely will recommend this hotel and also come back if I ever visit Malacca again.

Booked deluxe king in their website for 2 nights, I spoke to Steve the staff when want to make the reservation he recommended to book through their own website with promo code. I asked many questions but he still entertained me with excellence customer service and good voice tone for 20 minutes for phone call with last conversation “Hope to see you in Rosa”

The day of checkin, super fast by Steve & Jihan. The room is clean, aircond is good & housekeeping service is good too (even they switch the aircond first before check-in which i don’t request for it)

They locate me in Level 6 which mean the highest floor! What you see in the website exactly the same. I went to Reception just to try my luck to upgrade to Premier King and spoke to Steve unfortunately Premier King was sold out but it is not a problem i understand. He still try his best to fullfill my request, calculate for me the price differences. Respect old people like me.

He recommended a lot of tourist attraction in Malacca even an apps for parking without a coupon (SVP MELAKA apps). Too bad Jonker Street night market only open on Weekend. Smart, Well mannered guy, well groomed guy. I guess he is not local his english slang is pretty brilliant

Not to forget Rosa breakfast is really especially scrambled eggs and nasi lemak. Overall stay was SATISFIED

When we decided to have a short stay in Melaka I thought I'd look for a quirky boutique hotel. The reviews were very good but more importantly a bloke called Steve who works reception at Rosa was being regularly mentioned for his outstanding customer service. Anyway we booked a Premier King for 3 nights the room was very comfortable air con was more than adequate. Great bathroom with dual sink and run shower. Bed was excellent and enough work space gor my laptop. Although maybe 1 lamp at the desk might cit down the clutter. Breakfast was good with a wide selection and the Bica & Co space is well thought out and the food offer was diverse well priced send of tremendous quality. I think I should advise that the hotel does not serve alcohol and is strictly halal with foodservice. This did not prove an issue for my wife or myself. Overall the Rosa represented excellent value, is in a reasonable location especially for walkers. Staff were exceptional, rooms modern and large well appointed. If I planned to come back to Melaka I would definitely stay at Rosa without any hesitation ..

You enter a lobby of brick and concrete effect, which is markedly different to most hotel lobbies. This works really well and the theme continues to reception on the first floor and to all the rooms. It's very stylish. The rooms are spacious and well equipped. Beds, bedding and shower are all very good. The reception team will go out of their way to help you during your stay in Malacca. There is ample free parking. RM6 gets you a Grab to most places of interest. The best part of it is the breakfast. Fabulous squeezed juices, great coffee, usual stuff but also things like chicken curry. All attended to by the friendliest people. After Casa Sur Charming in Santiago de Chile this is my second favourite hotel. 100% recommended.

We were attracted to this place that there were two king sized beds in this place and the room looked spacious from the photos on the website. Well, the room is indeed spacious when we checked in. The hotel is a bit off the Jonker Street hot spots but it did not matter as you can get to most places in Melaka with less than RM $10 with Grab taxi. The hotel is generous with their supply of drinking water and it is really important for the weather here. Great and friendly service. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Melaka.
