The down side is check in time might be 15 minutes to 1/2 hour due to only 1 staff at the counter and current covid SOP.. And most importantly, cleanliness should be improved. The carpet in our room was damp when we enter, hairs on it even with sambal stain at the fridge cabinet and carpet. Our room was smelled weird due to these. Bathroom drainage also should be improved
The picture of the room on Agoda provided by hotel while booking may not be the exact room you will be staying in. The picture was nice and wide, but our room turned out a little narrower with a different layout. The things that remained as expected were type of bedding and size.
So because of that, I felt that the niceness of the room did not justify fully the price that was paid per night here.
Very casual front desk, sometimes 1 person, other times 2 but they get the job done. No complaints there.
For those who like their rooms untouched, we left the “Dont clean room” sign on, but they cleaned our room anyway. We didn’t mind that.
Hotel generally old but not shabby.
3 stars because of the cleanliness - no bed bugs. That’s a big one for us. The sheets feel clean and no particular smell to our bedroom. Bravo to Hallmark!
Generally had a good stay with this hotel. We will come back if we get to book for a cheaper price for sure!
I hate windowless rooms
When i checked in, was greeted by this unfriendly, sour plum of a receptionist
When i asked for a room with a window upon finding mine didnt have one she tells me i should have come early to have gotten a room with a window as they are subject to availability
There was no such clause on agoda through which i booked my room
If you are not going to be able to cater to all your guests with windows then add it to your description
I dont care if the price is the same or not, regardless of the window, which she unhelpfully informed me after calling her manager
If that is the case i would have rather paid a cheaper price for a windowless, airless room elsewhere.
This hotel is useless!
Avoid at all costs
For those who are driving up, there is limited parking spaces there. In front of the hotel main entrance has about 10 parking lots or less. At the side, another 4-5 lots, plus another 2 lots at the back of the hotel. I came back late at night and all the lots were taken up, so I have to parallel park just outside the alfresco dining area. The staff claimed that the place is safe, and yes, the road is pretty well lighted, and just across the hotel are bungalow houses. To be safe, it's better to get a steering wheel lock.
I booked the Deluxe Double room that is situated on the 3rd floor. The wifi router was just outside my door, so the wifi signal was pretty strong. The room itself is pretty small and if you have a big luggage, I don't think you can open it up without tripping on your luggage. The good thing is that the bed is huge and comfy, and the aircon can be quite cold after a while.
I love the bathroom. Even though there is no bathtub, however there is an inbuilt rain shower plus a normal shower head as well. The water pressure and temperature is good and easy to control. The toilet is equipped with a bidet function.
There are also abundant plugs around the room, plus a hairdryer provided. However, the room was not really sound proof and we were woken up by kids talking loudly along the corridor. Plus, the hotel allows smoking along the corridor, so there is a heavy stench of cigarette smoke the moment you get out of the lift.
Breakfast is mediocre and not really appetizing. The usual coffee and tea, fried noodles and fried rice, some scrambled eggs, toast bread and fruits. That's all you get. No frills. The service is also so-so.
You'll definitely need a car to move around if you are staying put in the hotel. There is nothing much around the hotel except for a 7-11 about 2-3 mins walk away and a petrol station next to it. You can load your 'Touch n Go' card there because certain shopping malls in town uses the card for access.
P/s: Added advantage: Jusco's nearby. And there's plenty of parking if u're not coming back too late :)
Breakfast hour is from 730-1030am. However kitchen staff refuse to replenish the hard boil eggs for the nasi lemak even though its only 920am. After talking to the lobby staffs, then the kitchen staffs replenish it for us. There were still occupants coming down for breakfast from 930am - 10am.
Location is good...near to town and also to Ayer Keroh where you can enter and exit Malacca.
Room is clean. Not that spacious but it has all the necessary tools and amenities of a proper hotel room. Love their modern bathroom especially the shower! Wifi is available. We don't watch much TV there as we are out most of the time.
Price is reasonable to me. Less than RM150 for a deluxe double/twin room.
Staffs are friendly and accomodating so far.
Not a big fan of their breakfast because very limited in choice but we have no problems going to nearby restaurants and stalls for a good local breakfast. Our favourite breakfast place is the Roti Canai Thambi which is about 500 meters from the hotel.
Evening onwards, there's a mamak stall selling good cappati and other dishes right in front of the hotel. Their cappati is soft and fluffy and the curry for dipping is nice. There are tables and chairs for you to dine in and hang out enjoying the night breeze while sipping your hot frothy "teh tarik". It's pretty crowded between 8pm-10pm. If I'm not mistaken, they open till 2am. Closed on Thursday and Friday. There's also fruit a fruit stall nearby and your favourite 24 hours 7-eleven store.
If we couldn't secure a room at Hallmark View, we would go to Hallmark Leisure which is situated in the town proper. You can simply walk to the famous Jonker Street (about 400 meters) and very close to other historic sites in the Malacca city.
Free breakfast for everyone.
Superb and modern toilet.
Of course we love the rain shower.
No astro channel, slow air cond, smelly room.
Just improve this 3 😊
Staff: They were not helpful and always 'did not know' anything.
Room: I was feeling very cold in my room and called the reception for an extra blanket. I was told, rudely, that there was no room service after 5pm and that an extra blanket is chargeable at 5rm each.
Toilet: The shower was frustrating as there was no pressure at all. How do you expect your guest to take a proper shower with such poor maintenance?
Overall, it was a bad experience, and I would not recommend it to friends.
