Granted the Courtyard brand is not Marriott Bonvoy’s premier offering, nonetheless, we had high hopes. Our first impressions were good – efficient, friendly check in and the common areas eg lobby, restaurant and lounge, pool areas looked really nice. There’s free parking for guests in their multi-storey car park.
We paid extra for a straits view room with breakfast – and the daily rate wasn’t cheap for Melaka. With the straits room you get a view of the Straits of Melaka in the far distance which is better than a view of another tower block on the other side.
On our first night we were awakened by a false fire alarm that started at about 5ish am. After that there was a faint beeping sound for a good part of 30 mins. We had to call reception to report the beeping sound, so not a great night’s sleep.
Breakfast is optional at an extra charge, but don’t bother unless you just want the convenience of eating in the hotel. Yes, there’s variety but not quite the quality we expected. On our first day there, our plates were left to pile up on the table and we had to move them ourselves.
The 1939 lounge for drinks was good – friendly staff, premium prices.
The room we had was fine but the walls are very thin so you hear people in the corridor, noise from next door and doors closing. We found large cobwebs behind the main door and TV channels were intermittent esp foreign news channels.
On our last night we woke up to the worst stench (sewer and gas) from our bathroom – we called reception at 2am and maintenance was called. Apparently something had not been fixed properly in the drain access and the room was filling with sewer gas. We were really worried about the impact on our health but was assured it was fine. After airing the room out it was ok for the rest of the night but it didn’t stop us worrying.
So this hotel failed on many fronts for us.
PS. For those who would like to visit the traditional tourist areas in Melaka: this hotel is a 20-30 min walk from the Stadthuys / Jonker Street area, with busy roads to cross and no pedestrian walkways. A shuttle service to this area would be a great addition to the service.
PPS. After these issues were brought to the attention of the hotel, we were assured they’ll be looked into – that’s a positive sign for future visitors.

Booked 2 linked rooms at the Courtyard. Loved the spacious lobby area and 2 drop-off points which can withstand some heavy thunderstorm. As the hotel surroundings are pretty undeveloped, the tall hotel means you have unblocked view of the town area and the sea (even-numbered rooms). Rooms are spacious with high ceiling. Bed was great although I would have loved a longer sofa as an additional bed. Breakfast was good quality, with enough variation during my 3 nights stay there. The hotel location is good as it is away from the hustle and bustle of the town area (meaning you avoid the traffic jam) and yet it is 15 minutes on foot from Little India, and maybe 30 minutes from Jonker Street / Christ Church. You also have the option to use the hotel's regular shuttle bus to town. The pool deck was spacious. Hotel staff were friendly and conversant.
Areas of improvement: the room has poor sound-proofing. I could hear the upstairs guest jumping. The doors also close with loud thud. Faulty fixtures like slanted bedside lamp and creaking shower screen door. There were fur balls / hair stuck to the sofa. And while walkable to town area, there is no footpath and you are walking in between a drain and the zipping by cars.
Courtyard still beats the other international brands that have opened up in Melaka (in terms of location and surrounding), and I would still book Courtyard the next time I visit.

First ever stay at the spanking new Courtyard Melaka. Booked a two night stay to celebrate birthdays but hotel does not seem to care.
I wrote an email weeks ahead to request for an extra bed and also mentioning that this is a birthday stay, to which the staff only acknowledged the part about the extra bed. I checked in on the Marriott app days before my arrival, and again made a request about my birthday stay, to which the staff acknowledged and was happy to host our birthday stay.
Upon arrival I checked in as per normal and somehow the front desk staff went through the formalities, without mentioning anything about my birthday stay. So I went to my room and to my dismay, no birthday setup or treats were offered.
Room that I stayed in was spacious with a huge bed and a lounge sofa. My room was facing the apartment next door, which can be a little creepy at night as it was completely vacant, with some rooms not having any curtains and all I saw was empty walls and staircase.
The pillows in my room stank so bad, like someone had pespired on them and no one bothered to clean or disinfect it. Called to request a change of pillows, but no one came that day. Had to write a note to housekeeping the the next morning to change the pillows, but some still had the stench. Horrible.
The rain shower was not functioning in my bathroom, when you turn it on the shower head shook violently like it was about to fall off the ceiling (Room 1203). Had to rely on the hand shower cos you know, no point reporting when no one will bother to attend to your needs as a paying lowly Marriott guest.
Breakfast was average, nothing on the buffet menu wow-ed me. There was some company event going on and the hotel seemed so busy.
The only good thing to say about this property is the carpark, which made life easy. You just need to register the vehicle plate number at front desk, and you simply enter and exit as the gantry will capture your plate number. Hassle free and just amazing.
Overall I feel like more can be done to elevate this hotel’s stature. I previously stayed at Courtyard Penang and it was a world of a difference.

We had a pleasant stay at this hotel, which offers modern facilities and a secure, high-tech parking system that conveniently recognizes your license plate—a nice touch for added safety. The breakfast was decent, with a standout teh tarik that we really enjoyed. The rooms were comfortable and well-suited for a short trip to Melaka, and the location is within walking distance (about 20 minutes) to Jonker Walk, making it easy to explore.

The Hotel is New, lobby is clean and breakfast buffet is Nice with many selections.
Wanted to do a small hotel review for TikTok bcos it’s a new Marriott hotel in melaka and ended up with a bad review of their toilet.
Downside, the hotel room is UNHYGIENIC.
Floor got foot prints, toilet & bath new but really dirty and the sink was broken and leaking.
This is our first ever experience with Marriott Hotel that is very unsanitary as a titanium member of bonvoy. Told the reception twice in 2 different days to have our toilet cleaned and told him exactly that this is really bad and I’ve never seen a dirty toilet like this before and it doesn’t make me feel comfortable.
End up our stay with nothing done.

As a new Marriott property, this is completely unacceptable and does not meet the high standards our brand is known for. The registration process was seamless and impressively fast. We were immediately struck by the grand, spacious lobby, and enjoyed a refreshing welcome drink accompanied by soft cookies. As Platinum Bonvoy members, we were thrilled to receive an upgrade to a high-floor room with a stunning view.
The room itself was immaculate and cozy, providing every comfort we needed. The staff were exceptionally warm and welcoming, and we particularly enjoyed getting to know Daniel and Mr. Emmanuel. Mr. Emmanuel has an incredible memory—he remembered our favorite drink at breakfast! Kudos to Mr. Emmanuel and the entire Courtyard Melaka team for making our stay so memorable!

I hope its not too late to write my review, I stayed at Courtyard Melaka during the Hari Raya Eid holiday in fact i checked in two nights before the holiday. Its a new and modern hotel, staff are welcoming and attending to guest needs. Food is delicious, i had the chance to book Ramadan Iftar buffet, the food was really nice, Chef Boon was always there attending to the guest, the satay was nice, it was the longest satay i ever seen. Breakfast was also delicious and Chef boon was always at the front welcoming and attending to the guests. Not to forget to thank other resturant staff Ryan, Emmanuel and others who always attend to guests needs. I am Marriott BONVoY Elite member, i was given the upgrade i have requested and other entitlemens, room was modern and view was nice. The swimming pool was amazing, and gym was well equipped. Big thank you to the operation manager Mr Roger, he works around the clock welcoming the guests and attending to their needs, for the guests requests he makes the impossible requests possible. Many thanks also to the general manager Mr Lee, we can see him every where attending and welcoming the guests. Of course i also would like to thank the hotel check in staff and house keeping, my stay was indeed memorable, this hotel is exactly what Melaka needs, location was good, and the food price at the hotel resturant was very reasonable, the pizza was really nice. Looking forward to stay again in this hotel in my next Melaka visit.

A quick family holiday turned into a big disappointment when it took nearly 3 hours to get our rooms. Food ordered at the restaurant took 40 minutes to arrive. We were travelling with a toddler who needed a nappy change. No baby changing facilities at the hotel. Not a hotel I would recommend.

Worst Marriott Ever Encountered
This is my third stay at this hotel, and it has been consistently disappointing. Unlike other Marriott hotels where you're greeted with warmth and hospitality, this one offers almost none.
The check-in process is very slow, and the staff show little interest in serving customers. There is a noticeable lack of control in crowd management, with counter staff appearing very disorganized.
I will need to seriously reconsider if I will book here for my future stays.
