First impressions of the Majestic are not good.
It is set in an old mansion house, next to several not very attractive high rise blocks adjacent to a large public car park. What must once have been a lovely front garden is now a residents car park paved with dull, modern brick. The facade looks as if it needs a bit of refurbishment and a lick of paint.
Things look up after that.
The reception area gleams with polished floor tiles and colonial mahogany and rattan furniture and wooden ceiling fans swish overhead.
Enthusiastic welcome (including a refreshing cup of fruit flavoured tea) from the large number of mostly young staff (including some interns).
Most rooms are in the 9 storey modern block towering over the old mansion. This may not sound very attractive but it is fitted out very sympathetically: large airy rooms with Victorian style furnishings and fittings complete with a claw footed bath to soak in after a hard day’s exploring.
Charming and helpful staff, including the one who took us on the (free) 2 hour guided walk (which is definitely not to be missed).
Small but attractive contemporary swimming pool at rear sandwiched between the house and the accommodation block with space for 10 or so sun beds but doesn’t get much breeze because of its position.
Only niggle included a) unreliable internet access but this may have been the fault of the service provider given the state of the local infrastructure and b) the key card lift control which was also pretty unreliable.
Looking at the other hotels in Malacca, some are closer into town (the Majestic is a 15 minute walk from Jonker St) but are smaller less we’ll appointed and probably noisier. The Majestic is the best up-market choice.

We booked 5 nights at the Majestic Malacca and had a relaxing and comfortable stay. We also booked two other rooms for family members for a special family event in Malacca. All our rooms were on the 9th floor and what a lovely sight sitting on the chaise lounge looking out at the river and Kampung Morten. The room is well furnished and the king size bed extremely comfortable. Housekeeping staff must be acknowledged for the impeccable way the room is cleaned and replenished. The little plate of kueh is such a nice surprise to come back to after a busy day running around.
The massage at the Spa Village was most relaxing and it was nice to have the small pool all to ourselves when we were there. All the staff especially front desk and beverage staff, were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and Concierge very polite. Drinks at the bar was enjoyable, with nice snacks. We didn't eat at the restaurant as we have family living in Malacca and all our meals taken care of!
But we thoroughly enjoyed the daily breakfasts.

Couldn't have been happier with our choice for 2 nights stay in Malacca. The Majestic is within walking distance of the river and the old town. The staff were superb and our rooms were amazing. We were greeted with fresh hot towels and shown our rooms by a lovely member of staff who explained all the hotels amenities whilst serving us a delicate jasmine tea from a wicker tea caddy. Our every need was anticipated by unfailingly helpful staff. They didn't have any non alcoholic beer on site so our waiter Oliver took it upon himself to run down the street to buy some from a nearby shop. Beat that!

I really liked the hotel's colonial look and feel of another era. That said, this doesn't mean the hotel didn't fully meet our expectations in terms of amenities. The décor throughout was tasteful and in keeping, while the bedroom was more modern, with an open plan bathroom that included a roll top bath - the bathroom area could be screened off if privacy was required. The bed itself was extremely comfortable and we slept very well during our stay here. The breakfast was self-service and while aimed more towards Asian clients, there were enough western choices for our needs. The hotel is in a good location and the centre of Malacca is only 10-15 minutes walk away. the staff were very friendly and eager to help; indeed the lady at reception recommended a website that enabled us to book our onward coach tickets to KL for a great price and far cheaper than I'd previously seen in the UK. If you're looking for a welcoming experience and old world charm this hotel definitely has it all.

The staff at the Majestic Malaca ensure your stay is a magical experience.
The historical walk led by Wati transports you back in time and gives you a glimpse into the dynamic port Malaca was in the hey day of the trading along the Malaca Straits
Had I had the time I would have loved to have joined the cooking experience
From the lovely gentlemen who greet you at the door, through to reception, the restaurant and the spa - the staff are warm and welcoming and the hotel facilities immaculate.
This was my second stay at the Majestic and I would happily visit again

We stayed for one night at the Majestic. Love the architecture and decor of the main building. We were assigned a deluxe room on level 3 of the hotel although we did stated in our booking request for a higher floor room. Nevertheless, our room was quiet and peaceful and we did not hear any traffic noise or noise from above in spite of the relatively low floor. Overall, the room is nice and spacious, although there were some minor signs of wear and tear at the shower stall and some of the air vents. Location wise, the Majestic is about 15 mins walk from Jonker Street and the historical sites of Malacca. Personally, I prefer its location to a location right on Jonker Street as it would be too busy over at Jonker Street area. Breakfast is ala carte style except for the mini salad and cereal buffet.

We enjoyed our stay at the Majestic and would recommend it to anyone visiting Malacca and looking for a quiet and quaint hotel that is filled Peranakan design touches.

I stayed here for two nights at the end of a two week trip, and it was the perfect way to end my holiday!

I was greeted with a really warm welcome on arrival and this set the tone for my stay. The hotel is smaller than many I stayed in during my trip and this gives it a personal feel. My room on the 5th floor was beautiful, with a huge bed, a sofa and a lovely bathroom with sliding wooden screen doors. I had a view of Kampung Morten and the river, which looks beautiful when illuminated at night.

The breakfast spread was modest compared to other places I've stayed, but it was fresh and tasty and takes place in a lovely dining room in the historic part of the hotel.

From the hotel, it's a 10 minute walk to the historic centre via the main roads, or 20 minutes along the river. The shopping mall/hotel complex over the road has a sky deck which has fantastic views and I thoroughly recommend a visit. I also recommend a visit to Villa Sentosa in Kampung Morten - a real gem!

I really enjoyed my stay - thank you to everyone for making me feel so welcome.

We stayed 2 nights at this beautiful hotel.

We arrived approx 1000hrs after a 13 hour flight from the UK and a 90 minute drive from Kuala Lumpur airport.

We were greeted with smiles from the doormen and as we entered the main lobby/reception area we met Anne who checked us in, gave us cold face towels, Jasmine tea and biscuits.

Our room was not ready so Anne made some calls to housekeeping to rush it along and within 15 minutes she escorted us to the most beautiful huge bedroom with roll top bath and walk-in shower.

Anne took time to provide us with information about the hotel and made us feel very welcome.

The hotel is an absolute classic full of beauty and charm and all the staff during our stay could not do enough for us.

The hotel looks onto the river and is a 15-20 minute walk into the busy area around Jonker Street.

We used the restaurant for breakfast which was A’ la Carte with lots of choices and very tasty food. Again the service was friendly.

We did not eat in the restaurant for dinner as the wine prices were exceptionally expensive.

We ate street food in the Jonker Street weekend night market and in the Sky Deli, top floor of The Shore/Swiss Garden Hotel opposite which had amazing views.

Our visit to Malacca was to learn about the culture and history of this city and our stay in The Majestic certainly enhanced our stay.

As the name suggests, this hotel is truely Majestic

This former colonial house has been renovated into a first class hotel, while losing none of its old world charm. The rooms a suitably appointed with furniture reflecting a time prior but remain comfortable and homely. We booked 2 Deluxe Double rooms for 2 nights (RM 2,553) which we thought was very reasonable. Our room offered views over the River and beyond. The beds were extremely comfortable. The bathroom was well appointed, including a large deep bath. We should have stayed at least 3 night however as there was so much to see and do in Malacca.

The hotel is ideally located on the Melaka River, just a short walk along the riverside path to Jonker Street (Jalan Hang Jebat) and the old town. Alternatively the river ferry offers another option for transport. A Grab vehicle hire will cost only RM 20 or less to get you down town.

Breakfast is served daily in the dining room, where white table cloths adorn the tables. A good selection of dining alternatives was available, both Malaysian and Western.

The pool is not large, but more than adequate to cool down after walking the pavements during the course of a day.

Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout the duration of our stay. I am very happy to recommend The Majestic to anyone wishing to spend a few days in Malacca.

This was a great start to our holiday. The rooms are well appointed and the facilities are good. The location convenient and a 10-15 min walk from the centre of town along the main roads, however we found the slightly longer walk the walk along the river much more enjoyable and scenic. The complementary walking tour from the hotel every morning is excellent and highly recommended as an orientation. However, what really sets this hotel apart is the quality of the staff. Everyone you meet in the hotel from the reception to the breakfast/dinner staff to the housekeepers are unfailingly polite, helpful, happy and genuinely caring about doing whatever they can to make your stay better. Really exceptional people and service. Thank you for a great stay.
