Awesome stay at Baba house! The location next to the famous Jonker street is a huge plus given the heavy traffic around the area, one can easily walk to Jonker and the restaurants around the area too by staying at this prime location! The rooms are clean and in good condition, however do take note that there are rooms inward facing without windows to external road and some with balcony facing externally. The front manager is extremely friendly and always help the guests with good suggestions for sight seeing and booking of popular restaurants! The breakfast buffet onsite is also with good selections and taste!

This hotel is probably the nicest hotel in Melaka. Baba House manages to keep the Peranakan Charm of a long house, provides authentic breakfasts, friendly/helpful staff, while maintaining modernity throughout the hotel and in its rooms. The rooms were very nice and quiet and you wouldn't think you're in a middle of the old Melaka town. Shireen was especially helpful at telling us where to go, what places to eat, and what to do. She's very knowledgeable of the area so be sure to talk to her if you need any recommendations! The location was also very convenient because it's very close to a lot of the attractions of Melaka. Everything is within walking distance!

This hotel wins because it’s location is perfect, it is scrupulously clean, and the staff helpful.

Pros: check in was good without much hassle. it came with a welcome drink for each guest which was a nice touch.
the decor and exterior of the hotel were tastefully done and very nice. at the front of the hotel, the management put up many chairs and tables for guest which was a very good gesture and complemented very well with the relaxing ambience. you can order refreshments from the small restaurant inside to be served outside. please put some soft lighting and perhaps soft music that would attract the crowd and possibly turn into another income stream on its own.
the room was not big but suffice for us as a couple. it was clean and tastefully decorated. the ensuite bathroom was also clean and well decorated. the hotel provided the usual amenities such as toothbrush, shaver, comb, sewing set and others.
though there was no window to look outside (you dont get natural light), the small window looking into the "small interior garden" between the rooms was a very nice touch and made the room feel comfortable.
Throughout my stay, the staff were also friendly. Location wise too, it is parallel to Jonker Walk and close to other historic attractions.
would give a higher rating except for two complaints which to me are major negative factors.
Cons: i got a ground floor room as the hotel was full. did not mind that until I found out the was no telephone coverage at all. not even a weak signal. of course, there was no internet data coverage. this itself is very big negative for me. had I been told earlier or upon check-in, I definitely would have left for other hotels.
when I later enquired at the front desk, they could only tell me they have informed the phone service providers but still no reply since their opening.
secondly, their internet wifi was intermittent. after several minutes you tend to lose the coverage and have to re-register.
on the minor side and is expected from hotels converted from shoplots, you can hear people talking at the corridors.
Because of these few issues especially no phone coverage, I consider the room was not value for money. I nearly wanted to ask for a refund or to lower my room charge because of this.
Would I stay there again? Yes, if and once they solve especially the phone coverage issue.

Really very beautiful building and comfortable bedrooms, completely let down by failure to deliver anything else. The bar was closed the whole of our visit (no explanation), the “restaurant” was a small buffet in a corridor between the front and back entrances, the breakfast was the worst hotel breakfast I’ve had in years. No juices, grotty white sliced bread and cold croissants, undrinkable coffee and tea, hot food was lukewarm and had been sitting in warming containers for a long time and after finding it was lukewarm I didn’t dare eat it. Hot water in the bathroom was unpredictable, all the lights fused twice in the bedroom, there was an unpleasant drain smell in the bathroom. The balcony overlooked an open top dumpster that smelled so bad that we couldn’t use the balcony. The staff were mostly surly. I’d give it just one star if it wasn’t for the attractiveness of the building itself.

The hotel itself was a rich Pernakan cultural experience. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The breakfast spread was a good variety. (Got the room that came with breakfast. The location is a less than 5 mins walk to Jonker Walk and night bazaar. Even though it was very near the night bazar and crowded Jonker Walk, the location was tucked away in a quiet street with much less traffic. Its about 7 mins walk to the Riverside. To get to the town centre, it will only take you about less than 10 mins by a public hire vehicle and may cause you less than RM15. Staff were generally friendly. I would like to especially mention Mr Haris, such a kind and patient staff. He was able to help me and attended to my requests professionally. Kudos the establishment for having such a staff in your team! Thank you Mr Haris and Baba House for a memorable stay!

We walked by and was drawn by its immaculate and traditional peranakan facade, and thinking it was a cafe/restaurant, decided to go in for a refreshment and a respite from the afternoon heat.
We quickly realised that it was a hotel.
Whilst enjoying our refreshments we were greeted by its Guest's Experience Manager, Shirleen Hong, a friendly, conversant, and delightful lady. A friendly chat led to her showing us around the hotel and by then my wife and I were kicking ourselves for not booking the Baba House Melaka for our 4-day visit! We absolutely loved its blend of old and new furnishings and decor and at every turn there was history. We were even introduced to their restaurant's chef and after some culinary conversation decided to book a table for dinner that evening.
Our wee tour of this gem of a hotel led to us visiting its (still closed) piano lounge and we were so lucky to meet its talented resident pianist, Kok Kee Boon, who gave us an impromptu concert!
We left knowing that when we visit Malacca again we will definitely book ourselves into this beautiful hotel with its many lovely staff who treated their guests (including non-staying guests!) like old friends.

We stayed in a family suite with our 2 small children just for one night while breaking the journey from Singapore to KL. The room was spacious with a big shower and everything was newly renovated. The staff were really helpful, nothing was too much, they helped us with our luggage, stored out valuables at reception while waiting for the room to be ready. Shirleen gave wonderful lunch recommendations - food at Lwees was the best I've had since arriving in SE Asia. Excellent location, just 5 minutes from Jonkers Walk and the night market. Highly recommend!

The hotel reception, including our host (Michelle), is exceptional. The hotel facilities are modern and clean. The pillows are really supportive and also the included breakfast is well prepared. The only tiny improvement I would suggest is providing more shower and shampoo supplies for rooms that have more than 1 occupant.
