A wonderful and interesting place to stay. Everything one would need or want is available. Different to anywhere else I’d stayed. Lovely atmosphere beside the canal. Snacks and drinks freely available. I felt I was really on holiday!

We recently stayed 3 nights here during Chinese New Year, the guest house has 9 rooms and 2 back onto the MELEKA River, it is a great location for touring, While the rooms are basic they are clean and comfortable . The owners run and manage the house, they are very nice and helpful. They have a Nescafe coffee machine in the lobby and various teas and instant coffee plus a variety of biscuits for you to enjoy, plus they provide 2 bottles of water a day per room. This is an older building so noise can carry, we were on the second floor and we could hear the room above when they came back to their room. The bar on the main floor appears to be closed, there are lots of options on the river if you want to sit on the river trail and have a drink or a meal, try Wild Corrinder a 5

Beautiful guesthouse. Nice and clean. The owners and staff are very helpfull. Free coffee, tea and cokies all day long. It's by the river and the rooms with the terrace over the river are amazing. We were in room 1, very nice view and big. We also stayed in room 7, the window to the patio, very quiet. I really recomend it!

A friend and I stayed here for 4 nights and were pleasantly amazed how close this guest house is to Jonker walk and all the sights! We booked the attic room #6 which has its own little patio with a view of the canal. Unfortunately breakfast was not included but there are sooo many choices fir breakfast that we didn’t mind. The hostess is very helpful in pointing out all the best places to eat as well as to visit.

Everything about this stay was great, the lady that checked us in was very pleasant. We stayed in room six which is the top room and has a balcony overlooking the river. Two bottles of water was supplied each day. The bathroom shower was a rain shower with lots of hot water. We paid 172 ringgit or about $55. Great location with lots of sights and places to eat nearby.

A friend from Malacca booked us in here & it has been perfect for 5 days. It couldn’t be in a better situation ... on the river at the back & a good central street at the front. It’s quiet, spotlessly clean & run by a delightful family ... very helpful & welcoming. They have free tea & coffee all day... no breakfast, but in the street are lots of cafes to choose from. Very close to explore most of the old town & to do the river walk & see & meet lots of people. We loved it & I would recommend it . Free WiFi

This was our second time we stay here. The staff and owner very polite and friendly. We love this lovely, historical, comfortable guest house in a safe, peace and quiet place near to Jonker street. Plenty of eatery around here and Sunday morning flea market at the Jonker Walk area is one of my favorite place.

After awhile of travelling, you find that chain hotels, whilst comfortable and provide a guaranteed level of service, tend to be rather cold & clinical. So whilst travelling around, I keep a look out for boutique hotels, and this is a gem that I stumbled across with my pal. The proprietor, Lian is a lovely owner who hails from the neighbouring state of Johor. She runs the place with her husband (who is unfortunately partially paralysed from stroke), and a daytime janitor. Do not expect a porter to help you carry your luggage, so travel light if you stay here, and bring it up the stairs yourself. The premises and rooms are generally clean, but are tend to be simple and basic. You're provided an ensuite toilet, which has very basic industrial toiletries (so do bring or buy your

Stayed in Wayfarer for a couple of days. Good choice because it is centrally located, about 5 mins walk from Jonker St. So convenient when I had to come back for a quick rest from a hot day of walking around the city. Rooms are big, clean and well-maintained. As this is a family-run hotel, common areas have that cozy, comfy vibe. The owners are so kind and helpful, and I enjoyed chatting with them about life in the city. They offer free coffee and tea, which you enjoy in the common areas with a nice view of the river and the church of St Francis. Will definitely recommend to others and stay here again.

This is a small family-run guesthouse with a very hospitable owner and lots of rustic charm. I stayed in two different rooms - both facing the river - and they were lovely. Not a great many modern touches - such as TV etc - but full of character, with lovely wooden floors, carved Chinese sliding doors and kettle with coffee/tea. The balcony was an especially good feature - just sit out there at night and watch the tourist boats going up and down, witness the vibrant night scene and just generally people watch. The shower's water pressure was good, and the room itself was clean and comfortable. The common area downstairs has seating at the rear where you can catch the river breeze and have tea/coffee and read. There's also a rather friendly cat. The owner/host - Madam Lian
