Please note that most reviews are for the previous owner. Currently there is little focus on the hotel side of things at all. The staff largely ignored us, there is no breakfast and the room was never made up during our six day stay. The main aim is to make money from food sold at roadside tables which was often accompanied by live music from 9-12 -this may take place below your window! Be warned - there are no staff on the premises overnight!

it's my kind of boutique hotel, it has lots of character and is in a great location. Our room was a good size, nice view of the river. The staff were very nice, perhaps a little nervous (I think it was new management at the time), I'd recommend it, if you like boutique hotels with character. I would definitely stay there again. Oh and they have a kitchen and washing machine and dryer.

Bumped into this cafe while wondering about at the river side. Great view toward the attractions and the coffee sangria is exactly what I look for in a hot afternoon. The rice ball is fresh and tasty.

This cafe-hotel offers a cosy homey alike environment for the guests. Ideal for a short weekend getaway with family or friends. The only thing is finding the parking for the car as there's a limited space for parking.

Heeren house was run so long before big tourism comes. It seems previous owner had Chinese writing on the wall, which makes more symbolic. Very good location and nice river view. It is not too busy because of the edge, a little bit noisy Karaoke song the other side of river but it stopped late night. Historical building, just good enough renovations, nice furnitures(not too fancy) and comfortable facilities. Sitting chair beside window makes time back nostalgic feeling. Cafe downstairs has good coffee as they say and kids(staff) are very nice. We were driving up from Singapore, all enjoyed staying here. If we have a chance to come here, we would stay here again.

This place is a small hotel/cafe, converted from what used to be a warehouse by the river. We dropped in for a coffee so my review is limited to cafe section only. Clean and nostalgic interior well matches the historic area. A nice cup of coffee let our time run calm and slow. Will be back!!

Heritage property in a different world- UNESCO World Heritage Centre! Amazing staff members, felt very secure and humble! Staff members were really caring and made sure that I am getting all my things done within this short timeframe. And I had my best homemade local dish Nasi Lemak, cooked freshly for breakfast! And humbly sitting there behind Malaysian cup of kopi with classical music playing in the background with a view to the river! Simply stunning Peranakan style building with well maintained antique furniture, stairs. And the central location is another huge BONUS! Thank you Heeren House family!

Overall, my stay here for two night is nothing but amazing. Last time I went to Banda Hilir, was a long time ago. I didnt realize it changed a lot. But not this charming house, and along its neighbourhood. Super close to Jonker Walk (10 steps) and all of other attraction. Just situated besides the river. I love to sit in their cafe while listening to their music playlist. Good breakfast choice, local & western. Fruit juices are amazing! Rooms are amazing. No Tv but they have good wifi connection. They have 1 parking spot, but so does other guesthouses. Jonker Street is very narrow. Since its illegal to park at the street (1 way road), you can park in front of Casa del Rio. Theres a parking spaces there. (Rm 6/ entry). I have no prob with that. If you want to go somewhere, you can use Grab. The owner and staff are super nice and friendly! I would come and stay here again. Thank you so much for the hospitality!

Situated within minutes’ walk of all the main sights to see in Melaka, Heeren House, a 200+ year old building is a great place to base yourself. The welcoming, friendly and genuine hospitality shown to us by the hosts added that extra dimension to our holiday which in turn gave us a greater appreciation of this most captivating city. The breakfasts (included in the daily tariff) were delicious and provided a great start to each day. Heeren House also serves lunch and dinner which are very tasty indeed. You must also try their homemade fresh lime juice drinks ... heavenly!! A sincere thank you to all at Heeren House for making our trip to Melaka an unforgettable experience.
