One of the most excellent and warmest of welcome ever experienced staying in a Hostel. The best of all is the care the host, Andre, generously imparts to all his Guests makes you feel most comfortable and most welcomed. So unexpected and rare indeed to find this unexpected place ( without a map or a guide book). The Hostel is a credit to the Historic City of Malacca. Infact it is a distinguished and outstanding establishment, The hostel may be small with only 7 rooms including dormitories but it is large in "Character" and has a "Class" unique of it's own style. Might also be one of the most friendliest ever, though I'm not much of a traveler and I've only just begun. The place has Good vibes, is beautiful, artistic and "full of energy" Excellent hospitality and excellent service by the host, Andre,

Hello Axlxia, This might come as a surprise, after all these months, to actually hear from me, now. Still, better late than never! You know what! - whatever forces that led and brought you to Jonkerdee Hostel, I'm only glad that it was worth your stay! I trust by now, you would have done a little more "travelling" when the opportunity presented itself and I hope each and everyone of them brought you 'pleasant and memorable' experiences of your travels and stay. It was great having you as one of my guests. I remember you just as I remember all of my other 'special' guests Thanks for your review! Regards, Andre

If a picture could paint a thousand words then let these pictures I've taken (with the permission of the Hostel Owner, Andre) speak for themselves. However I am compelled, for it's the least That I can do for this Magnificent Hostel and it's Magnificent Host to also be generous with words spoken from my heart. (I intended to stay only 2 nights but but because of the excellent Hospitality/service, rendered, I decided to stay for 5 Days) The Hostel well here goes : By day you are struck and stunned by what you see like scenes from the "set' of a Movie House befitting that perhaps of a sequel of AVATAR 2 in Cinema scope. Then as dusk/evening dawns or approaches the Hostel is transformed making it AVATAR 2 in 3 D ( 3 Dimension)Tthe transition isfrom Day to Night is mesmerising like seeing through a different spectrum making it almost "paradise" like with all the lights aglow.
Beautiful people discover beautiful things and Andre the Owner/Host has done just that with the Hostel. I learned that Andre is really famous in the Malacca Music Scene. He, I gathered from mixing around with some of the local people is a natural entertainer known for his dance moves and song rendition. It is said he is the best dancer in Malacca with some saying the best in Malaysia. At jonker Walk at the junction where Ringo's Bar and Geographer's Bar converge with a hoist of other Hot Music Scenes stretched along a particular street, Andre (Jon Kerdee) is an icon and a celebrity to be reckoned with drawing in droves of crowds/ people, some of whom gather across the street to watch him dance (and sing) with "gusto" and "power packed" action and moves. Andre does this voluntarily and from the goodness of his heart. He was quoted and known to say " I just love to spread Joy and Happiness all around and that's why I do this where and when I can" Yet! you wouldn't hear a "quip" from him about his 'Celebrity" status. That's how humble and modest he is about the whole affair. When I mentioned about his popularity at Jonker Walk music scene, he just brushed it aside saying " I'm just a simple ordinary guy, I'm not great, God is" I had the greatest time staying there. Everything is within reach. Good location with lots of different ethnic food selection around nearby. There's an Internet next door, a mini market, 24 store, laundry ,etc, etc and Jonker Walk is only a 2 minute walk away. The Hostel has a kitchen with everything you need in it.However who needs to cook with all the restaurants around there!!!. There are bicycles for rent from this hostel, free luggage storage and even a First aid kit For Emergencies. The Toilets are the most creatively decorated and very very clean. As an incentive, there are no Staff milling or loitering around (which is a bonus if you ask me) And get this people, amazing but true, NO Mosquitoes through out the 5 nights I stayed there!!!!! Andre is always around on demand for any assistance or service. It may be a small Hostel but with a BIG HEART just like the Host, Andre. He too has a big heart. Very Homy and Cosy and one of the best place to stay In Historical Malacca. BRAVO and KUDOS to Andre and Jnkerdee Hostel. Long after you've left this Hostel it's beautiful hostel and all the plus points that comes along from staying in this Magnificent Hostel will still linger on in your mind for a long long time.

Hi Eugenia! Nothing pleases me more than (hoping) to be the great or perfect host. It's quite a daunting task to achieve, I should say, though not that impossible, if you're willing to work hard. And if you and several of my other guests deem me as 'great host', that's only because you have all been 'great guests' of mine at Jonkerdee Hostel. I'm glad you are also one of my guests who appreciates and admire my personal collection of antiques and curios, etc. It's been one of my deep rooted desires and ambition, since I was still at a very tender age, then. Now it's a passion. Much like my running of Jonkerdee Hostel as her Owner/Sole Proprietor. Thank you so much for your recommendation of Jonkerdee Hostel in your TripAdvisor Review. Regards, Andre

We have six weeks and so we decided to take a family vacation in Malaysia commencing during Malaysia's Independence Day known as "" Merdeka". My wife being a Malaysian having come from Penang Island was all nostalgic and patriotic about the whole affair.
She had specifically set her sights on Malacca (to begin with) as the Proclamation of Malaya's Independence was made at the Padang Pahlawan or Warrior's Field situated in Malacca.
She also had her sights set on a Hostel called Jonkerdee in Malacca as our choice of accommodation. I'm a spendthrift person while my wife is prudent, so I had my reservations and scepticism about staying in a Hostel. Yet from day 1(one), since she stumbled upon Jonkerdee Hostel which is listed on TripAdvisor and viewed all the photographs and pictures of this hostel posted on TripAdvisor, she had been "enchanted" and I'd even go so far as to say "bewitched" by what she had seen and read the reviews concerning this Hostel.
My children( 3 daughters) and I tried to talk her out of it but she wouldn't have it no other way and seemed like she was under "Jonkerdee's spell". She convinced us, we would all have one of the best experiences, so liberating and so intoxicating as she summarises it.
We ( my children and I) eventually relented for we thought that she'd change her mind after the first night's stay. It in fact was just the opposite as my children and I were so taken back by the pristine scenes so tantalising before our eyes that my children and I echoed in unison the word "Wow" and that changed our perception of Jonkerdee Hostel as it is indeed an "enchanting" and "bewitching" Hostel.
Upon our arrival itself we were made so welcome and treated with great respect and honour that we were stunned and to be honest we chided ourselves for thinking that only great hotels with great names and status would be able to justify the satisfaction and top notch service we craved for. We couldn't complain as there was nothing to complain about. Our rooms were like a figment of our imagination. Even our imagination couldn't have ventured that far. The rooms were like a mystical and fantastical dream and they were comfortable with a sense of tranquility. We slept peacefully through the night.
Consequently, when you come out of your room to mingle with the other guests and with the Host, you'll sense that 'aura of peace and lightness of heart' present everywhere within the boundaries of this quintessential Hostel called Jonkerdee that's so emboldened and emblazoned with the "Wow" factor from the design, artistic creativity, atmosphere, warmth and service and all around.
The city of Malacca and all its appeal added and contributed to our joys and fun we had as a family taking a long and well deserving break from work and house chores.
The owner, Andre makes a wonderful, amazing and outstanding Host. Conversations with him were profoundly and intellectually stimulating! He happens to be a well and highly learned, widely travelled and worldly experienced Individual. A man with a 'vision' and wise in his approach.
We owe a great deal of thanks and appreciation to Andre, Jonkerdee Hostel and TripAdvisor for this wonderful, bizarre yet wholesome and stellar vacation. Viva Jonkerdee, Viva Malacca!!!

Dear Sir, I'm lost for words except to reciprocate with the word "Wow" itself. You see I know what it had taken you to do and how hard it was for you to even think about having to stay in a Hostel, particularly when it goes against your 'style' and when you're so use to staying at great Hotels with great names and status! In accepting to stay, you showed Jonkerdee Hostel and myself (the owner) great and genuine respect, confidence and trust by your brave 'move' from great luxury to accepting what might seem like three, perhaps four steps below your level of standards. Prominent among these is the fact that you showed your greatest and genuine love, respect, confidence and trust in your wife's decision and choice of accommodation. In my book of good characteristics, you not only possess but also earned that "wow" factor, that you yourself are so generous to impart. I had the joy of witnessing ( during your stay) the 'traits' of your goodness - a good man, a good husband and a good father. Id even dare to go so far as to say you are a good son to your parents and a good brother to your siblings. I owe you more than thanks and appreciation that only the good 'Lord' can give and I wish you and your family God's Blessings! Finally, since you like surprises, I might just take you up on your offer and visit you and your family in Vancouver, Canada, someday, in the not so distant future. Now wouldn't that be a surprise when I come knocking on your door???!!! Warmest regards, Andre

Jonkerdee Hostel is a very nice hostel in Malacca, Malaysia, with a trendy design that at the beginning scared us a little bit, because it is too too beautiful and in the same time very cheap!!!
It is very, very clean and Andre, the owner, is such a great host, that helped us with everything we needed.
If Andre sees this post, I would like to send him a huge hug! :)

Dear Silvia, I couldn't let go of this opportunity to thank you, however late it may be! Yours, was amongst the first of the reviews to appear on Jonkerdee Hostel's TripAdvisor Review Page. You checked-in with two of your other friends whose names were Eugenia and Alexandra, respectively. Oh yes! I remember them and their names, too.You were all fine ladies of Romania! I owe much of my gratitude to you. With your first ever review appearing on TripAdvisor - a whole chain of other reviews followed!. Your review was like "love at first sight". It leaves an indelible mark( favourable) on the personification of Jonkerdee Hostel. I was only glad as your host of Jonkerdee to be able to help you with everything that you as a traveller needed to ensure your stay was not only 'comfortable and pleasant' within the confines of the hostel but also beyond where the larger "picture" is and that is getting around or finding your best "moments" and best "photographs" taken of the best of Malacca. Thank you so much for being one of the first to respond with your review of Jonkerdee Hostel Regards........., Andre

I used to walk past this Hostel with its signboard on which hangs a cage with a spotted dove in it (bird singing or bird voice competition category). Below is a patch of garden (cultured) that grows and there too, sits a cage but it houses a rabbit of the "Angora" breed of a rare colour of black, white and grey, long soft hair with a lion's mane around the neck or head originating from Ankara, turkey, historically known as Angora. Inside the Hostel, you'll find a little pond with Koi and gold fish.
I would stop every time I came to this patch and gaze and admire this miniature garden. Occasionally too, I would peek into the interestingly decorated stairway leading up to the Hostel. I guess I was one of those who mistook Jonkerdee as probably an expensive Hostel. But how wrong I was!!!
At other times, as a passer by I would see a gentleman wearing a straw hat, good looking and handsomely dressed watering this miniature garden. Many a times we nodded and smiled at each other. Once the gentleman said "Hello, you must be a regular somewhere, seeing that you frequently pass this way". I replied, "Yes! I just seem to love the vegetarian restaurant, a few doors away from you"
You see, I am a British National, retired and every year I spend several months in Malaysia, most of it in Malacca and Penang. This time however, after having read all the reviews about Jonkerdee Hostel on TripAdvisor I decided against the norm and stayed at Jonkerdee, that many have described as fascinating, magnificent, outstanding, distinguished, very great and extraordinary!
I must say I am Impressed, amazed and filled with wonder. A lot of ingenuity and "soul" has been applied in making this place 'extraordinary'. What's even more amazing is, it's a "one-man show". The owner is also the manager and the host who welcomes you with his gracious and outstanding hospitality and service! What a 'feat' to overcome and an achievement for the sake of his guests' comfort and reassurance (an amount of dedicated and diligent work you hardly find anywhere) even for those who have workers or staff working for them.
A lot has also been invested here and it's not just the monetary or material value involved but also creativity and artistry, vision and imagination, interests and ambition, courage and originality, effort and determination (in tireless and laborious work just keeping the place proper, clean, tidy and ticking around the clock), and of course the mostly Spiritual or Soulful part which is the "core" as you enter into the World of Jonkerdee!
My journey into the World of Jonkerdee happened when I took that decision and finally turned up at its door and rang its bell. The handsome gentleman with the straw hat soon appeared and spoke saying, "Good morning, how can I help 'Lady Passer-by'?
With that I ended up staying at Jonkerdee. What makes Jonkerdee Hostel unique is that almost everything has been given the "Midas Touch" by the owner. He has transformed the simplest of things into a magnificent "objet d'art" with his creativity and very special touch. Take for example all the furnishing in the hall, originally they would all have looked plain but with his special touch they now reflect the look of royalty.
There are "touches of Gold" objet d'art and intriguing gold ornaments, along with some gold coloured linen blended with intricately carved wooden objects and figurines tastefully and artistically scattered around creating a regal and royal look and atmosphere or ambience within its walls. I couldn't help but myself feel regal and royal, too. Regal and royal at a very, very affordable, inexpensive price. It's not just the beauty of Jonkerdee that's attractive but also the great hospitality, ease and freedom within, approachable and smooth communication, open and borderless friendliness, top-notch guest service, safe and peaceful atmosphere and surrounding, affordable and inexpensive, unwavering smile and a warm welcome all add to Jonkerdee Hostel now being "tops" in my list. What a small price (personally I felt) to pay for an enormous task and gesture of hard labour and superb service involved on the part of the owner/manager/host, a trinity (but all-in-one) indeed! Certain aspects of this unique hostel reflects or resembles that of a Malay Sultanate Palace of the past that chronicles the Malay-Arab or Arab- Malay influence with curtained chambers, strewn with carpets of intricate designs/patterns on the floor, while glittering beaded curtains hang from above like of old. Another scenario reflects an interesting diorama hall depicting that of a modern day Sultan's Court or a Sovereign Court, a blend of the old Aladdin's lamp and the new. The dormitories mainly reflect on the old Aladdin's lamp, while the private bedrooms reflect on the new.
I, too totally recommend Jonkerdee Hostel which is unique, vibrant and "full of energy"

Greetings Janiz! I guess I owe it partly to my miniature garden that you were so impressed with and admired when you walked past my Hostel. The other part I owe it to the many reviews on Jonkerdee Hostel posted by my other guests on TripAdvisor Site. However none of these would have mattered if you hadn't (like you said) switched from your norm and decided to enter into the "World Of Jonkerdee" as you so nicely put it. So thanks for taking that step, standing at my door and ringing my bell! Just as you are amazed and filled with wonder over Jonkerdee Hostel and her contents, so am I filled with wonder over the contents of your heart, your spirit and your lovely gestures!!! The sprinkling of your words "Touches of Gold" is now synonymous with the service provided by Jonkerdee Hostel. Much appreciated and thank you so much! Regards, Andre

"Welcome To Jonkerdee" is one of the signs greeting you from inside the pristine corridors of Jonkerdee Hostel. "Welcome To Malaysia" is another sign that also greets you.
What do you picture when you think of Malaysia?
If you have read the travel brochures, you will imagine a land of beaches and coconut palms, sands as fine as flour, lost idyllic islands, fabulous coral reefs, and lots more.
If,on the other hand, you pored over the pages of Somerset Maugham's short stories, you will imagine colonial bungalows set in the heart of a tea or rubber plantation, with tea served on the verandah by a young Malay boy, while the Indian 'punkah wallah' moves the fan into action to keep the 'orang putih' (white man) cool in the heat of the tropics,
Or if you have peeked between the covers of naturalist Alfred Russell Wallace's Malay Archipelago, you will see ancient jungles, screaming with monkeys, brimming with butterflies, and hiding legendary animals such as the famed most intelligent of primates ( next to man), the orang-utan. That's a brief insight into Malaysia!
What do you picture when you think of Jonkerdee?
If you had read the reviews, you will imagine a great and beautiful hostel, likened to a great and beautiful woman, cool and unruffled. accomplished in her own right with a strong presence yet quietly self assured and confident speaking volumes without saying a word. This chic, elegant and fascinating "accommodation provider" is the ultimate personal statement to a hostel for which originality and spirit is a way of life.
The reviews and pictures of Jonkerdee will add to your knowledge and enjoyment of this great hostel. Jonkerdee combines superb photography with entertaining insights and informative text written on palm leaves mats (mengkuang weaving), utilising the impressive talents and bestowed gifts of the expert who in this sense is the owner, Andre, himself.
Jonkerdee hostel will help make your stay ( as it did mine ) a memorable one. In Jonkerdee you will find yourself in many incongruously different scenarios. There's so much to fathom here with every room, nook and corner projecting something fascinating.
The accounts given by the many reviewers are not contradictory, indeed you will find aspects of all this visions of multi-cultural Malaysia in this great hostel. But what you will find is also much much more. I did when I stayed here and enjoyed the best of hospitality in every way. Expect some surprises! That was a brief insight into Jonkerdee!

Hello Xelcius! That was brilliant of you to echo, endorse and paraphrase the "What do you picture when you think of Malaysia" signboard, that I have at my Hostel, written by my own handwriting on woven mats. Come to think of it, I should have used it on my website! Perhaps it's better when it's read on TripAdvisor as a reviewer's point of view highlighting a message from within an establishment. Your description of Jonkerdee :- "This chic, elegant and fascinating 'accommodation provider' is the ultimate personal statement to a Hostel for which originality and spirit is a way of life" You might be pleased and thrilled to know that it has already been impressed upon and quoted a second time ( with reference to your review) by another recent reviewer of Jonkerdee. Thanks for your support and praise of Jonkerdee Hostel! Regards, Andre

Like the Great Pyramids of the Egyptian Pharaohs concealing magnificent chambers, laden with aesthetic treasures or like Disneyland in all its resplendent monumental beauty so enduring that serves to commemorate or celebrate Mythologies, Legends, History, Folklore or Mystique, Jonkerdee Hostel could be said to possess all of these elements making it (in our opinion) a classic hotel with a multi-faceted theme of epic proportion!
We realised on the morning of our first night's stay that Jonkerdee has other attractions with multi-faceted themes that we could view that were 'free' of charge. If this was a resort we'd probably have to stump out more money to view these other 'attraction' sites.
We just had to pay for our bedroom that we occupied (which comes with other perks as stipulated on its website) and nothing else, no other costs were involved.
So here are the other areas of attraction we are talking about:
Jonkerdee Gallery - Art / paintings and decorative artefacts and style, etc, etc. Some being Andre's personal handy work!
The Elegant Hall - depicting or resembling a Sultan's Court or Sovereign Court with elements of 'gold' regalia to give you that majestic feeling of your stay.
The Arabian Nights' Room or Scheherazade Chamber. Scheherazade, a bride of a Sultan of the Indies / Arabia who had resolved to marry a new wife every evening and dispose her the next day. Scheherazade entertained him so much by telling him stories - one each night for a thousand and one nights - that he abandoned his cruel intention. Hence her stories, 'The Arabian Nights' Entertainment.
The Prince Parameswara Chamber. Founder of Melaka, (Malacca) who declared himself 'Raja' (King) and later Sultan of Melaka, - steeped in history and local folklore
The Egyptian Royal Chambers. The mystery and fantasy of Egypt, adorned with gold plated/painted Egyptian urns and jars, gold rimmed mirrors, gold gilded shields, Pharaoh's royal sceptre, Egyptian hieroglyphics painted on papyrus and on scrolls.
The Celestial 'Garden of Eden' Chamber. So mystifying and mythological. The legendary 'Paradise' - an imaginary sphere of which the observer is the centre surrounded by beauty and earthly creatures.
The Replica of the typical Malacca Kampung Style Model Bedroom. With its typical 'Malay' theme, decoration and influence. Equipped with 'sarongs' - Malay and Javanese garment of a long strip of cloth tucked round the waist or armpits.
Andre's 'G' Crest Family Museum Room. A legacy, heritage and a love and inspirational treasure!
The quaint and unsung 'Planet Jonkerdee' Domain. A distant sphere or realm of existence.
The cooking area that resembles a ship's or air craft's kitchen also referred to as a 'Galley' - so piquant, churning out pleasantly appetising breakfast!
The Latest addition of interest (according to Andre) is an area called, "TripperAdvisor Corner" ( obviously dedicated to 'TripAdvisor'). Andre considers himself a 'Tripper' - a person who goes on a pleasure trip or one who makes a popular trip or excursion. The area exhibits pictures, photographs, travel brochures and guides, bus and train schedules, maps, travel destinations and others
Finally check out the Owner's most personal collection of antiques, curios and collectibles, gathered from his extensive travels around the world proudly displayed and rather tastefully and artistically decorated, creating the right mood for each individual guest, like some prominent melody in a composition.
There are other nooks and corners that's interesting and forms the basis of attraction, but I guess you'll have to find these out yourselves!!!

Dear Madam (and Sir), Thank you for the time taken to pen down your thoughts and views of Jonkerdee Hostel. The effort is immensely appreciated. Among other projections, Jonkerdee Hostel hopes to offer and inculcate 'variety and diversity' along with 'flair and style' for those who appreciate and seek such pleasures and comfort. Simultaneously for those who opt to treat and pamper themselves out of the ordinary! Everybody needs to, now and then, treat and pamper themselves in a variety of choices and Jonkerdee Hostel hopes to fulfill one of those criteria particularly for travellers who want to inject some "flair and Variety" into their travels and accommodations itinerary. Henceforth, thank you Madam (and Sir), for being one of those who 'seized' the opportunity and for "highlighting" Jonkerdee's many facets and themes Your review of Jonkerdee Hostel reveals that you appreciate and value all that Jonkerdee stands for, making you another one of our distinguished guests with extraordinary perception and greatly appreciated for the "flair" you espouse.

We are in Malaysia at the invitation of our daughter and son-in-law who has been residing in Kuala Lumpur for almost a year now. Our son-in-law has been posted here on his new assignment. This is really our first trip out of the country!
After spending two weeks with them, they decided it was time for us to do some travelling on our own. Carol (our daughter) took it upon herself to find the proper accommodation that would most of all take good care of us and was looking through several options when she accidentally found it on TripAdvisor. After making the connection and enquiries from the establishment concerned, which she claims was a happy discovery, she immediately arranged for a taxi that would drive us directly the next day from Kuala Lumpur to Malacca and drop us right at the doorstep of the Hostel called Jonkerdee. As this is our first trip ever, she assured us that Jonkerdee Hostel would take good care of us. She only called to verify our arrival and then once more when we were to depart whereby we told her we were extending our stay by another two nights. Her response was "Didn't I tell you Jonkerdee Hostel would take good care of you?"
Here's our part. We can't dispute but we can endorse that Jonkerdee Hostel has indeed that "wow' factor. There is also one other factor it has and that is "Serendipity" It was serendipity that brought us to the discovery of this hostel (just as our daughter had claimed). Serendipity is that faculty of making happy discoveries by accident.
Since the time we stayed at Jonkerdee Hostel and at Andre's (the owner's) advice, motivation and encouragement to take chances and opportunities we'd never taken before, travel on roads we've never travelled before and more, every accidental and what could have been an 'unpleasant' experience had in fact turned out to be a happy discovery.
The accidental discovery our daughter made with TripAdvisor was itself, we'd say the first "serendipity" effect we encountered and experienced. Sounds like every review written and posted about Jonkerdee Hostel on TripAdvisor have their own Serendipity story to tell.
The photographs/pictures of this Hostel for viewing on TripAdvisor is indeed a delightful and happy discovery. too. We want to say that there's everything going for Jonkerdee Hostel:- great location, lots of ethnic restaurants around, star attraction sites and shopping complexes all within walking distance, car parking lots, less congestion and traffic, safe surroundings, etc, etc, even great ranking ( not to mention great reviews) on TripAdvisor.
Within the Hostel itself, there is nothing lacking, not the sleeping conditions, the breakfast served, the cleanliness all around, the ambience/atmosphere, the noise level (peaceful and tranquil) and other concerns like mosquitoes, stale air, dank and moldy walls, etc, are all out of mind's way and worry.
The amenities provided by this Hostel as outlined on TripAdvisor also keep to their promises.
We plan a day trip visit to Malacca again (with our daughter and son-in-law) after Christmas and we were hoping to give Andre a courtesy call, if it's all right by him. We promise not to take much of his time. We'd be flying back within the first week of the New Year, 2015.
In the meantime, Our warmest and best wishes to Andre and Good luck and success to Jonkerdee Hostel.

Response from Jonkerdee, Owner at Jonkerdee Hostel

Dear Sir and Madam, Once again I'm flabbergasted!. However I shall not let you down, although I merely provided lip service (words of encouragement and inspiration), perhaps also, helped you find your way around to the places I recommended you should visit and things you should do when in Malacca. The rest you did it on your own. You honour me too much! yet I thank you for your opulent and colossal review of Jonkerdee Hostel. Personally, I feel we should thank your daughter, Carol and your son-in-law for the encouragement you received from them to make this first overseas trip. Next followed their second attempt of encouragement for you to travel in a foreign country all on your own, just you and your charming wife to a destination you've probably vaguely heard of and to a Hostel you probably never knew existed. I also think you should take credit, pride and honour for yourselves for not developing 'cold feet'. Several people I know of in a situation like yours did develop this symptom. You and your wife instead took it in great stride and moved forward to face whatever challenges you'd have to come up against. Bravo! I'd say. You also mentioned not of your valuable insight and feedback you shared with me on how I could further enhance and feature my business property. You are truly a Gentleman and your wife a Lady. I'd be honoured to have you call on me again in December and honoured still to meet your good hearted daughter, Carol and your son-in-law in person that I may personally thank them too. To you and your wife, do I simultaneously owe a great deal of thanks and gratitude. God bless you, your charming wife, your daughter and your son-in-law and the entire family! Warmest and best regards, too. Andre

Dear Madam,
Sorry for the inconvenience but Jonkerdee website has recently been revised and updated and the page is currently being reshuffled and rescheduled on Google.
Hopefully it will not take them long to do the necessary!
In the meantime I wish to inform you that Jonkerdee Hostel has no vacancy for our bedrooms and Dormitories category for the period commencing 27th February - 2nd March, 2015.
We regret not being able to accommodate you and we send kind and best regards and wishes!

"The dormitories are separated by curtains and though there are no notices or signs reminding 'in-house guests' to maintain silence or speak in soft tones at appropriate hours, many of the occupants of the dormitories seem to have it ingrained in their minds to keep their voices low particularly after 10.00 pm and before 10.00am. This we found rather amazing!
The Bedrooms or the Dorms both make for a good stay."
"We took two rooms, the lovely double bedroom that resembles a hanging garden, beautifully decorated with God's creatures of the land, water and air, along with some fascinating ornaments, antiques and paintings on display, all tastefully done. The other room with 3 single beds was perfect and told stories and showed photographs of Andre's heritage and family. These rooms suited us fine for a family of five. Both rooms were side by side and along the pathway to the hall.
We'd just like to add that the dormitories we're impressive and like the rooms were worthy of value and price."

"Go for the Malacca Kampung style Dormitory. It can accommodate 4 persons and is spacious and original in its theme, decoration and atmosphere. There are interesting collectibles on display and you can unwind and relax by putting on the "sarong" if you want to experience true Kampung style "dress" comfort while sitting on a mat on the floor, sipping tea and having some local delicacies. Quite an experience, we'd say!!!. The dorm is midway between the Hall and Kitchen, on the right."

"The Raja Parameswara Chamber held my attention as it's a dormitory with two single beds. I thought it was "cool" as it was "different" and 'held some local folklore tradition". It is one of the most fore front dorms in the hostel."

"We would have been happy to settle in one of the dormitory, especially the one that has all the imagination of being in Egypt like being in Cleopatra's Chambers. Perhaps next time. That's the one I'd like to recommend! It is the second last room from where the kitchen is."
