Upon booking i was thinking this is a normal hotel like i used to visit... booked for 4days. Surprisingly the hotel was great. The quiet ambience was A+. It quite near to the city and other places.... i will choose this place again...

I really enjoyed my stay at this beautiful hotel. The room is very beautiful and huge. The breakfast buffet was good. Our mineral water wasn't replenished but other than that I really satisfied with the service provided. Worth your money to stay here. I would like to acknowledge one of the front office staff, Eddie for giving us exceptional service. I really hope the hotel manager recognize his efforts and hard work. Thanks for making our stay so great! Definitely will stay here again!

I stayed here in July 2020.What was suppose to be a one night stay extended to three and then 4 days. This hotel is located right next to the entrance of the Portuguese Settlement away from the city centre. The reason I chose this place was because I wanted to avoid the traffic. There are plenty of hawkers stalls along the road. There are more cons then pros here. I would have given them 4 stars but..
Cons:
It is very noisy along the corridor with staffs on walkie talkie most of the time.Difficult to rest
The double rooms are very very small compared to twin rooms
Poor TV reception

Pros:
BATH TUB..the only reason stayed here 4 nights
Very comfortable beds
Strategic location
Polite, courteus, helpful staffs
They serve the best sauna noodles. The cafe is always packed

Others:
It seems there is a change in management, so it isnt the same as before
Pools cant be used
Villas no occupancy
You must check out at 11 am and if you happen to exit after 12noon,be prepared to pay 50% of the room charges
Deposit is hefty, higher than the room rate at RM200

We always stayed at Settlement hotel during our CNY visit to our parents hometown but this year was quite a letdown. We booked the bigher room as we needed space for a baby cot which the hotel provided but it was stained, dirty, covered in mold and dusty. An adult would not want to sleep on such a dirty place, what more an infant.

We complained to the reception which duly dispatched their supervisor and apologized but told us its due to 'change management'. We told them to take the crib away and ordered a single mattress for our infant but 10 minutes later housekeeping just came back and told us there is no single mattress in the whole hotel as they threw it all away due 'change management'.
No one follow up on the issue and left us to resolve this issue ourselves.
The shower area had a drainage problem where the drainage is slower than the shower capacity hence ponding.
Food was good but the servers need to improve, as they could not understand english too well.

Hopefully they will be much better in the near future and not blame the issues due to the current change management stage.

Avoid this place . We stayed in room 301. Don’t quite understand the good reviews given . Avoid especially those rooms facing the main road . Extremely noisy . And the sound proofing of the room is just plain terrible . You can hear so clearly sounds from next room . And the cleanliness ? Well , see the pictures . Need I elaborate more ? Good luck sojourn , if you don’t get your acts altogether , sooner or later , you will chase away all your loyal customers.

Just checked out of room 107.
Overall its a decent hotel. But what pissed me off was at around 8.30-9am, the started drilling and knocking right above my room which woke me up and i was unable to get my much needed vacation sleep and a major headache from the loud drilling and knocking.
Gosh
One of my worst experience. Never stay in a hotel in a middle of reno (which i did not know)

The hotel is fine,I love everything about it..however i am very upset that you include your customer in your "change management" period. We paid for your facilities but we did not get any. Ur team is very polite and thats about it. I expected more due to very interesting comments from the rest..I didnt get my rest because no room service available so we have to look for our food.So not cool.

Dear Sir/Madam, it was December 2014 and I decided to choose the settlement hotel to plan out a surprise celebration with my fiance for our anniversary. I booked a room in advance for the 24th of December , the day we are suppose to celebrate our anniversary. Then I corresponded with the hotel staff via email in November , regarding the plans ,packages and decorations for the special day. After going through the available offers, I opted for a romantic candlelight dinner package at the Roof garden, with Appetiser , main course, and desserts picked in advance. I was happy and excited, looking forward to the special day, only to be disappointed 1 day prior to checking in; I sent them an email 1 day prior to check whether everything is fine and the reply I got was "I'm sorry to inform that the menu for honeymoon couple won't be available due to festive season and sorry for the inconvenience caused"
I replied, asking why wasn't I informed earlier regarding the changes" but was ignored. Since I couldn't come up with another plan at that last minute moment, I decided to just check in and see what is their response on that matter. I waited and waited, and none of the staffs acknowledged about that problem. I was really disappointed as my celebration and plans were ruined. There wasn't even a single note /decoration to wish us a happy anniversary to make up for their mistake with my dinner reservation.instead of acknowledging my problem, they just pretend as if it never happened . Hope your management can look into this matter.

Dear wph85, Thanks for the review of your recent stay with us. We would like to sincerely and humbly apologies for ruining your most auspicious anniversary event. There is no excuse for our oversights and lack of attention to detail in providing you the most simplest form of service. We did not hold try to our tradition and for that we are truly sorry. I know nothing we can say now will make up for our lack of service but all I'm asking is for you to call on us the next time you're in Melaka. Do drop in if even for a cup of tea and let us explain what went wrong. We would really like to make amends. Take care and hope to see you soon.

I really liked this hotel and I wanted to like this hotel. Its by the portuguese settlement and it's obviously a project of passion by the owner. From the objet d'arts to the very friendly and effective service of the staff, there is an ambiance of eagerness and wanting to please. The room was lovely, the beds were comfortable and the design very thoughtful. The car park was securely locked at night which was a plus. The food was also very decent!

Now the negatives;
1. The Bidet had a leak when we entered the room. This was fixed promptly by Maintenance/Security. But in the middle of the night it leaked again.
2. There was no instant coffee in the guest rooms. We were told that the owner loves his tea and that was the reason why. But for a hotel that aspires to '5 star' status, I suggest that this is an omission which, due to that aspiration is not acceptable.
3. Breakfast was decent but one minor glaring omission was the availability of butter. Again, for a 5 star boutique hotel, butter on the dining table is an obvious choice to be given to the diner. Margarine has been proven to be unhealthier and with the trend toward more un-processed foods, butter is offered at most good hotels now.
3. While the above were really very minor niggles what came next was not; I went down to breakfast, grabbed some wholemeal bread and under the second slice I took was a mass of fungus/mold.

In mitigation, the staff were very, very apologetic and immediately removed the bread and it was obvious all supervisors were told immediately. That is good. I would recommend some process be implemented that checks on the quality of the food before it is released to the dining room and to guests. Would I recommend it for a person to stay at? Yes, but care should be taken.

Dear nigelskelchy, Thanks for your review of your recent stay with us. We thank you for your kind words and for choosing the Settlement Hotel Melaka as your hospitality provider for your recent trip. We also thank you for your suggestions and as we're constantly fine tuning our products and services to cater for all our guests, we will consider it carefully. We understands that the damage has been done, but please don't let this isolated incident deter you from patronizing us again. Yes. But it's really small. More like a dip pool. Probably no one really uses it.

I refer to your enquiry. Your room is inclusive of breakfast. There is no need to purchase breakfast separately. Unless you have made a booking online where the breakfast option is excluded. FYI as a Travel Agent myself, I know the rate for Adult is MYR 22.00 and for Child it is MYR 12.50. Below 6 years it is FOC. Regards. Vimala. Ace Altair Travels Kuala Lumpur

I took the shuttle service to Jonker and took an uber back at 9.30pm, it cost me RM9.60 which is pretty decent. It would be really easy to get an Uber/Grab from Jonker on a Saturday night anyways, just get picked up from the streets nearby (I did Jln Tun Tan Chang Lock)
