is quiet enough and in the end of the block theres an halal restaurant (indian restaurant) also there is cendol for dessert i the noon.
Be careful if you bring a big luggage because the lift is in upper ground and only the stairs to get there.
From melaka sentral bus I spend 9 RMY with grab.....
The rooms were comfortable . A few of the students' rooms had windows which faced walls but the students had a good laugh about it. If you're staying here, request the rooms facing the river. Some has balconies. The rooms facing the Mosque across the road would be subject to calls of prayers 5 times a day. If you don't mind the call of prayers at 5.30am that lasts for a mere 3 minutes, then the rooms are fine. On that note, the rooms facing the Mosque can be quite warm in the late afternoon as it faces the setting sun. The room I stayed had some problems with the A/C. I couldn't set the A/C control to 'Quiet' so I had to live with this huge humming sound in the room. The A/C compressor was behind a door in my room and the exhaust heat would come back into the room. The hotel need to have a look at this.
Breakfast on the mezzanine floor was very basic. Stayed for 3 days, the breakfast menu on the first day was noodles, some cold fried spring rolls and the usual toast, butter and jam. 2nd day was Nasi Lemak, some cold mini samosas and the usual. I think for the price of the room including breakfast, it was adequate.
The staff, on the other hand, were great! Very helpful, very accommodating and very friendly. Sat down with one of the staff to plan places to visit and she provided very detailed information.
WiFi connection is an issue. It's complimentary but it is not good.
Overall, if you are not going to spend your whole day in the room, this is a very good hotel in terms of location. Walking distance to the famous Jonker Walk, the beautiful Baba Nyonya Heritage Row, Hard Rock Cafe, Nyonya Cendols and the river cafes. Parking is quite limited though and if you are travelling in a group, arriving on a tour bus, be prepared to walk a bit from where you get off the bus because the road in front of the hotel is really narrow. If you're driving, there's parking for guests at the back of the hotel.
I booked directly through the hotel as I wanted to be sure they could accommodate the larger family of two adults and three children within the hotel's family room suite. They were able to do so at no extra cost for the third single bed and the suite was great with a separate bedroom for the double bed and one for the single beds with a living space and balcony overlooking the river. The rate we paid was RM338 (which included breakfast) was quite remarkable for such a large space in such a good location.
The double room was not anywhere near as spacious and didn't have an external window at all but was still comfortable.
Both rooms had great air conditioning facilities (a must in hot Melaka) but no fridge. Bathrooms don't have a shower cubicle but i didn't find this a problem. All rooms come with free wifi.
Breakfast was very basic and minimalist with only a few Asian breakfast options, toast and coffee but was sufficient enough to get you started for the day.
The hotel was quite noisy throughout the night but I put this down to some disrespectful guests as opposed to the hotel itself.
The location is great as it's right on the river and the main attractions (Jonkers st, Pink Church, etc) are about a ten minute walk along the river and the walk is an attraction in itself with beautiful buildings and pretty bridges to see along the way.
Parking is free and ample here as well as very easy to access. This was a great feature for us as we have a very large MPV.
Staff at the hotel were quite nice and friendly. We were able to extend our checkout time by two hours with no problems at all.
Overall, I feel 906 Riverside Hotel is much better for larger groups or those willing to book a larger room for the view and space. Based on the aesthetic and ambience of the double room, I think there are nicer hotels within the same area for a similar price where I would chose to stay next time. However, I would definitely book this hotel again when I'm traveling with another larger family or with another couple wanting to share the family suite as these rooms are great value for money.
"Rooms facing the Mosque which is directly across the street are very loud during prayers due to amplified speakers facing the hotel."Read full review
