We stayed for a week as part of a grand tour of Malaysia.
We booked a sea view deluxe room and it was as described.Very comfortable room,bed and bed linen.
Breakfast was a bit chaotic with many Chinese guests staying, and not a very pleasant experience.
We decided after to take breakfast in the club lounge where it was very peaceful.
The restaurant food wasn't good,we had booked the bbq and when we went downstairs they had cancelled it and failed to let us know.
The restaurant manager attempted to remedy this by offering us a meal from the menu, unfortunately they presented uncooked chicken!
At this point he then offered a glass of wine, however we still hadn't eaten.
I wanted to check out and move to a different hotel but we were persuaded to stay by the hotel manager,who was very charming!
The club lounge was very good although not all staff speak English to a standard to serve guests.We needed to use the online translate app to ask for some breakfast items, the evening service was much better with a staff member who spoke English perfectly,her service was good tool She remembered what drinks we had and our names she was exceptional.
House keeping was always excellent,Ramesh worked diligently and was very helpful.
He kept our room spotless and tidied daily, Towels and bedding refreshed regularly without having to ask.
Our room was always completed promptly and additional towels provided when we needed.
The swimming pool was very good and we made good use of it.
Its a good size for a swim unlike some hotels.We didn't use the gym but did walk daily to explore the area.
The under pass is the safest way and easy to navigate,why some tourists play on a dual carriageway is madness, but they did!
Lots of shopping close by,great malls,in fact some of the best shopping in Malaysia.
We decided to utilise the complimentary shuttle a couple of times because it was so hot and the guys were great.
Historical places of interest and a great riverside walk, sometimes we had it to our selves.
Local wildlife/ reptiles in the river along with the many river boat rides.Small cafés and friendly locals,we loved it and will return when next in Malaysia.

Hotel's Favourite
Booked a 3 day 2 night stay to celebrate my son’s birthday. Booked connecting rooms as I was traveling with my family of 4. Rooms are of a good size although the design is dated- first stayed in this hotel in 2014 and the design remains the same so the interior does look it’s age but it’s well maintained with the usual amenities one would come to expect of holiday inn.
Hotel is located within walking distance of jonker street and the shopping center is just a 5 min walk away.
Would like to commend the staff for going out of their way to allow me to use their freezer to deposit ice packs as I had medication I needed to keep chill. Such small acts of kindness really go a long way to making the stay a pleasant and memorable one- keep it up holiday inn Melaka!

In spite of the location of this Holiday Inn, their services were great. It is a bit of a walk 15-20 minutes to walk under freeway passageway in order to connect to Jalan Street, but need to use caution as streets are uneven and sidewalks are not level. The dining area for had a great selection of food choices for breakfast & lunch. Staff were very attentive to pick up empty dishes/utensils. Breakfast included freshly made Chinese porridge , Miso soup and Chinese noodle soup.(Self-service) Hot breakfast was made on the spot as you ordered your omelettes, pastries and choice of drinks. Also, they have signs on the tables showing it was "occupied" or "vacant".

Lovely check in by Ria who explained the available places. There was live music on first floor and a helpful convenience store.
However, room smelt extremely damp. You needed a key card to activate the air con. Two to the bath room lights blew during our 3d2n stay. Room was otherwise spacious with good city view. You can jaywalk to the city Centre (non handicap friendly) or have to take a cab everywhere else.
Breakfast food quality good, but immensely crowded. Staff were working very hard to clear what they could. Waits for elevators could take forever.
On my last day of stay, around 930 am on 29th Dec, I went to ask for an additional key card (we were only initially issued 2 cards for a triple room). The slender lady who was not Ria, issued an extra card with multiple unprompted warnings to return “all 3 cards when checking out or a fee”. Why was this conveyed to a guest merely asking for an additional card ? Moreover asked for activation of key card for the check out for an hour which was granted earlier on phone. Lady kept harping on “not even a minute after 1pm”. And “must be before 1pm”. Entire experience left a sour taste. This is an IHG hotel, not some budget hotel where you staff starts harping on costs to guests who have not even infringed anything.

We stayed at this hotel in August 2024 for 3 nights and I would rate the hotel as ‘average’..
It has a very corporate feel to it, and could easily be made to have a less corporate and more luxurious feel..
We booked a Club Room with Club Lounge access. The room itself was very clean, albeit had that ‘corporate’ feel. And the bathroom was a bit ‘dated’ with an old fashioned shower curtain for the bath wall mounted shower..
The club lounge was excellent.. vey comfortable and excellently decorated, with a choice of indoor or outdoor seating.. Breakfast in the lounge was excellent, with a vast array of options available. The evening cocktail slot was also excellent, with again, a vast selection of food and drinks to whet any appetite or thirst.
Unfortunately, I have to conclude this review on a negative note. We found the staff at the hotel lacked knowledge and information, and on one occasion, were quite rude..
To explain… We had a late morning flight from KLIA2, so planned to leave early in the morning due to the 90-120 minute taxi journey. The evening prior to leaving, I asked the staff in the lounge if they could check us out whilst we had breakfast, to which they responded ‘yes, no problem’.. We handed the staff both room key cards when we entered the lounge at 7am for breakfast, and asked them to proceed with the check-out. 20 minutes later when we were preparing to leave, the staff advised us that we would need to check out at the main reception in the hotel lobby.. If we had known this, we would have checked out prior to having breakfast!!
When we did check out at the reception, we asked the staff to provide a cost and time quotation for a taxi, to which they replied 300MYR and 10 minutes, which I accepted and asked them to book.. 10 minutes passed and u asked the staff to confirm how long the taxi would be, to which they replied that it was stuck in traffic but on the way (no call was made..).. After a further 15 minutes I asked the staff again (politely) to confirm when the taxi would arrive. The receptionist made a call, which to me, appeared to end abruptly, and when I asked the staff ‘how long’? she was unable to confirm, don’t utter a word, and then proceeded to take a phone call without my query being answered.
Both of the issues above resulted in a very rushed and uncomfortable airport check-in.. And both issues seem to have been the result of inexperienced or under qualified staff.. Very disappointing end to our stay..

Mostly all positive - good breakfast, location not bad - 10 mins walk to the big mall across the road (use the subway to the left of the hotel, rather than risking crossing the busy road). The room was of a good size and was very clean.
A couple of negatives though - the wifi was appalling, barely working at all in the bedroom. Eventually we got a booster from reception but even with that the wifi wasn't all that great.
The swimming pool is great, but there are about 6 sun loungers and 2 umbrellas, and they are all broken and battered. I expected MUCH more from a Holiday Inn.
There are only 3 lifts, and 1 was broken for most of our stay, meaning there was a lot of delays at busy periods.
A couple of negatives though - the wifi was appalling, barely working at all in the bedroom. Eventually we got a booster from reception but even with that the wifi wasn't all that great.

Clean rooms, plenty of parking, easy access to room from carpark and nice seaview. Many thanks to Yoon and Alia from front desk/reception as they were extremely helpful and did extra miles to make my stay comfortable and worry-free. Yoon had arranged connecting rooms with bathtub located nearest to lift for us ( we are a party of 4 consisting elderly + heavily pregnant mother + toddler) and Alia had assisted in preregistration early check in even greeted me by my name during check in and check out. Room service food is tasty. We had apple salad, salmon steak, cendol, sago, fruit platter, satay, mee goreng, hor fun, fish and chips and all of it did not disappoint at all. Will definitely be back to stay again.

Was acknowledged as an IHG member and given a letter detailing the benefits as a member. The experience would have been better if the benefits were explained instead.
There is shuttle service that you can book that brings you to and fro to Dataran Palawan Megamall and Jonker Street, however this was not mentioned during check in, only found out by chance.
Bedding is standard Holiday Inn bedding and pillows, air conditioning in the room was nice and cool. Overall the room was comfortable and clean and provided my family with a good rest.

Busy hotel with daily turnarounds. Room good size and what you would expect from HI. Clean, good room servicing. Shuttle bus takes you to centre and it’s a 15 minute walk so worth catching but reserve at reception beforehand. Restaurant OK but uninspiring and often no one to serve at bar. Lovely large pool and could see from our room whether it was busy or not so managed to have it to ourselves on occasion. Downside of this hotel was the breakfast. It wasn’t replenished very well and focussed mainly on Asian breakfast. Fruit ran out daily, bread was not great and even hot water for tea ran out. This wouldn’t have been so bad but it was busy so difficult to get attention from staff. As milk intolerant only cows milk available so managed to buy alternative in town which kept in room. No mini bar in room - empty fridge but water, tea and coffee replenished daily

We booked a 1 night stay after being let down by our Air bnb. We had a king room facing the sea. Unfortunately there is a nightclub over the road and the music was heard until 3.30am. NOTE - book a city view room!
The room was very clean, super comfortable and had great amenities. Good air conditioning.
Breakfast is an area that can be improved. All the food is cold, they need heat lamps. Great selection of food available.
As our 2nd Air bnb was also a disaster, we booked a further 5 nights stay. This time a city view on 15th floor. Booked for breakfast one day, as manager mis communicated the price. He told us a price for 2 people but it turned out to be per person.
Close to places to visit and they have a free shuttle so you don't have to cross the road

Usually the club lounge is quiet n not much of traveller at the club lounge,but for this u need to call them up n ask ,but as for me i think can access it
Not sure because this is n old hotel n u can ask the staff where's the nearest place for charging it, whether complementary parking u can ask them,sorry I'm a traveller not the hotel staff, hope that clarify yr answer thanxz have a great day
