I've been eager to experience a short getaway at the Eco Tree Hotel, thanks to the recommendation. Luckily, I secured a reasonable rate, especially considering it was a Friday stay right before a public holiday. Consequently, I decided to take the plunge. Here's what impressed me: 1. The overall condition of the hotel is well-maintained. 2. The check-in and check-out process was quick, that's all. 3. The room was quite nice offering: plenty of space, the air-conditioning system worked well, and excellent water pressure for a hot shower as well. 4. The hotel offers open-air private parking conveniently situated behind the property, and there's a friendly and helpful attendant at the guardhouse. 5. The hotel's strategic location provides easy access to numerous good dining options, convenience stores, and even nearby reflexology centers. Areas that could use improvement: 1. Room cleanliness needs attention; I found unidentified hairs in the bed, which was quite off-putting. 2. The inability to lock the doors to the toilet and bathroom was inconvenient. 3. The limited selection of only four TV channels was disappointing. 4. The breakfast spread itself offered very few choices while the coffee served was quite enjoyable. 5. A more secure designated storage area for luggage would be greatly appreciated. Above all, I would like to highlight that the front desk team could greatly benefit from being more tactful, friendly, and approachable. The overall arrival experience left much to be desired and was deeply disappointing, despite the swift check-in process. Upon making our reservation, we requested early check-in with full understanding that it was subject to approval, even though the official check-in time was 1500 hours. Consequently, we decided to register, deposit our luggage, and check out some nearby restaurants. When we got to the lobby, it was unusually quiet and devoid of guests, except for a family of three checking out, and my companion and me. In my turn, I walked up to the front desk and cordially mentioned my intention to check-in. To this, the front desk female attendant answered right away that our check-in time was 1500 hours and that we should return at that hour. I reiterated my awareness of the check-in time but kindly requested to register and leave our luggage in their care. Unfortunately, her response was far from accommodating as she asserted that they were presently only processing check-outs. Her disinterest in further assisting us was evident, leading me to conclude that I should simply return at 1500 hours as she had suggested. When I inquired about the location of the luggage storage room, her reply was curt, merely gesturing toward an area with a glass door, positioned beneath a staircase and opposite the reception area. I couldn't help but feel uncertain about the safety of leaving our belongings there, especially given her uncooperative attitude. Without offering a luggage tag, I took a leap of faith and left our luggage in the designated area. This whole interaction was unpleasant and aloof. Not a single smile was visible, no interest in engaging with us. I didn't feel anything like hospitality. Having worked in the hospitality industry for over 25 years, including a stint as head of reception, such treatment of guests is utterly disheartening.

This hotel was included in a tour package, so we had no choice. Moldy smell in the room as well as a great amount of dust accumulated on a ledge over the TV area. Not too far away from the downtown area, about a 10-minute walk. The two 7 Elevens (which usually are pretty good in such places) were awful. No sandwiches or hot foods, just chips and drinks. The folks were responsive when we did ask them to come to the room to show us where the safe was but for sure this is a 2 star hotel.

Room is comfy, great location and nice view. Love how setting of the room. easy to go around. Near to 7 eleven. Massage places nearby. Insta worthy for picture. All is ok except for the breakfast. Not much varieties. Food was not top up when I came down to eat. All are ok but the eggs is superb. Chef is amazing. That'all.

In the downtown area, a mile or so south of the World Heritage status 'Old Malacca' The building is a fairly modern shell, with an entry on the ground floor and escalators and lifts leading up to a lobby and checkin on a Mezzamine level About half the rooms have a sea-view, although the sea is a mile or so away, between the hotel is a wasteland of scrub car parks derelict hotels and half finished developments, equally the street on the way to old town Mallaca has a number of boarded up shops. For me the room ticked most of the boxes, a fair size, big window, king size bed, warm shower and a good size wardrobe to hang clothes and stow baggage. The wardrobe in the bathroom was an interesting idea. Some of my colleagues experienced problems with their rooms, bathroom doors not closing, no hot water, my own room had condensation between the panes in the double glazing. A list of jobs to get sorted out as the hospitality industry recovers from CoVid. My own request; Can BBC and CNN be added to the hotel TV system? The hotel's best card was it's breakfast, mainly Malay in style, there is a short order chef who cooks good omlettes, I was particularly taken with the Beef Rendang one morning. There is a roof top pool & bar, I didn't investigate these, having found a local bar on the street corner. About 10 mins down the main street towards heritage Malacca on the right hand side is a laundry that can turn you laundry around in 24 hrs I think 5RM/kg

I must say this is one the best hotel in Melacca that I have ever stayed. The rooms were spacious and clean, sheets were new and properly ironed. The sleep that I had in the hotel was A+. Moreover it's a walking distance away from Dataran Palawan, which is the shopping mall for Melacca. Car park is open air so it's exposed to the elements. It is also near to various restaurants and sundry shops. The staff were friendly too. Price wise it's very reasonable for the room as spacious as this at a weekend school holiday rate.

We had a big room with 2 twin beds and 1 king size bed. It's spacious. There's free parking for hotel stayers at the back of the hotel. We were on the first floor which is same floor as the lobby but there's these stairs we have to go up and then down again cause it's on the north wing.. Yeah.. That was a hassle for the luggages we carried. Perhaps they should consider making slopes so easier to just pull up the luggages. Anyone can come to the lift and access any of the floors so safety-wise.. It could be improved. Kids pool was big enough. Plenty of seats around the pools which were great. Towels available at the pool. The downpoints were.. The water heater wasn't working properly. It was too hot no matter which way we changed it, and even after we turned off the water heater. The aircond was too cold even though we set it for dry mode. These 2 are really important to me so I was really not pleased. I loved the acrylic paintings along the hallways. Loved it. Sad to see one painting had a tear to it.

Stayed here for 2 nights from the 12 July to 14 July. I have been to Melaka countless time and usually I stayed at the excellent 5 star rated Casa Del Rio. However, since that hotel and most other hotels were full during that said weekend, I decided to try Eco Tree as the rate was quite reasonable. I booked direct using the hotel official website and as stated the rate was quite cheap considering that I initially wanted to stay at the more expensive Casa Del Rio. Booked the Studio Suite, which is a duplex with the sitting room and toilet on the lower level with the bedroom on the mezzanine level. As to the title of this review, this hotel would have garnered a 4 or 5 star review from me if it was rated as a 3 star property as opposed to its official rating as a 4 star property. Read on to find out why. Check in was fast and efficient. Ms Ellen was very efficient and courteous. The lobby is quite small but with fast and efficient check in process, it was of no issue. The suite was on the 7 floor, the Executive Floor of the hotel. At most other 4 and 5 star hotels, Executive Floor guests would be accorded the use of an Executive Lounge which usually comes with complimentary drinks and snacks. However, the Executive Lounge at this hotel did not come with complimentary drinks or snacks and the fact that it is located next to the swimming pool did not provide a quite place for one to sit and relax. Not really a 4 star service in my opinion. The suite itself was quite good. But being west facing and having a full height window from the lower floor to the ceiling of the mezzanine level, the suite was very hot with the full strength of the blazing afternoon sun. It took the whole afternoon, with the curtain drawn closed and all heat emitting lights switched off, just to bring the temperature in the room to a comfortable 23 degree. It would have been nicer for the hotel to probably pre-cool the suite having known that a quest is checking in. The staff could probably insert one key card to activate the power to enable the airconditioner to cool the room down prior to guest arrival. Drawing the curtain closed before the guest arrival would also help a lot. Once the temperature had been brought down to a comfortable level, the suite was actually quite nice though not for a person with a weak knee or who hates stairs. It would have been a lot nicer if the room was not as dusty. On the step leading up to the bedroom, if one swipe ones finger on it, the finger would be covered with fine dust. A thorough vacuuming and mopping would do the job here. Standing by the railing of the mezzanine level, looking at the light fixture hanging from the ceiling, one could clearly see the dust that had accumulated on top of the light fixture. Sure, it is very hard to clean the light fixture that is that high up, but it needed to be done. If this is a 3 star property, I could probably close one eye to that. But this is as advertised and rated as a 4 star property. The carpet and the sofa were also in dire need of a thorough vacuuming. Ms Fatin who cleaned and made up our room was however very friendly. Managed to talk to her when I was on my way out and she was on the way in to clean and make up the room. Of course she alone would not be expected to do the thourough cleaning mentioned above as the layout of the suite necessitated the use of high ladders to reach all the hard to reach area of the suites. A note of thank you to Ms Fatin for doing her part of the job to the best of her abilities. Oh, the hotel could probably get rid of the 15 year old magazines that were arranged on the bookshelf in the room. I am not kidding, some of the magazines were from as far back as 2004. A more current issues of magazines would surely be more appropriate. You are afterall a 4 star rated property. Might I also suggest, if you want to outdo yourself, a good coffee table book about Melaka would be a nice addition to the bookshelf. The rate included breakfast but my friend and I decided to skip breakfast as we noticed that the hotel had a big group of tourists from a certain East Asian country and having had the experience of having a meal with this group at other places, we were not too keen on reliving the experience. Might sound a bit racist on my part but that fact, I think, could not be argued no matter how politically incorrect it might be. Thus are the reason why I rated the hotel as a 3. The hotel is good bordering on excellent at being a 3 star hotel but not up to par to be a 4 star rated hotel. By the way, the supposedly free wi-fi, was only available if you are near the door to the suite. Move an inch away from that "sweet spot", no more wi-fi connection. To summarise, the good about the hotel are its location in the city center, the ample parking (open air with security), the staff particularly Ms Ellen and Ms Fatin, and the suite that we stayed in (apart from it being dusty and very hard to cool down to a comfortable temperature). The question, would I recommend or come back to this hotel? I would personally not come back unless there is no other option. Would I recommend to others, for the positive points of this hotel, I would, but with a caveat that one should not expect a 4 star service standard.

- lower rates showed online are rooms without windows, pls take note. - rooms not cleaned properly (stains on walls and carpets) - with strong air freshener smell which they used after cleaning up. - towels provided is about time to be replaced .towel's edge tearing off aoon.. - parking provided is not covered. Few covered space have reserved sign blocking it.. - funny parking policy, guest will be given a parking voucher. If lost penalty of rm50?? - paid rm198/night for my room. Which is too pricey for this hotel standard. (no breakfast) - bathroom doors no lock and its glass with blurred sticker. So it's not suitable for non couples. - locstion of hotel is good - Wi-Fi ok - beds ok and comfortable - tv channels were basic and acceptable
