There are times you meet people on your travels that you are grateful to have had the opportunity to do so. Wendy is one of those people. Not only is the home absolutely beautifully restored, you will be treated like one of the family. Her story about the house and important findings are amazing. The stay is worth every dollar....

How nice was it to stay here!!!! What an absolute delight to stay at Wendy's fabulous home. Feel so honoured to learn all the history attached to this house it was so interesting, I'm sure Wendy must have told the story hundreds of times but round the breakfast table we were all mesmerised and the food was incredibly delicious. All...

Beautifully restored historic property in a lovely neighbourhood with a warm welcome from Wendy, together with freshly baked cake and hot drinks or port & sherry in the lounge. Great start! Comfortable spacious accommodation with many period touches, information, literature and art works many created by Bill who modestly accepted just praise for his painting. Excellent restaurants within a short...

If you are going to be in Mobile the Kate Shepard House is a great place to stay for one night or longer. Its in a quiet and walkable neighborhood not far from downtown. Wendy and Bill are terrific hosts and know the area, the praline French toast alone is worth the overnight stay.

You can unwind and relax and look forward to the amazing breakfast that will be prepared for you each morning by Mrs. Wendy. It's absolutely the best place to stay while you enjoy the beautiful sites of Mobile.

Getting ready to leave Mobile, Alabama with my beautiful sweetheart Susan Cohen Hammen. This has been our favorite stop so far. We stayed at The Kate Shepard house a St. Anne style bed and breakfast circa 1897 with the most awesome Proprietors Wendy and Bill James. Wendy is a true southern belle cooking the most scrumptious homemade breakfasts and baking...

From the genuinely warm and friendly welcome we received from Wendy the moment we arrived we were bowled over by this lovely place. Apart from its fantastic place in history (be sure to ask about the 'letters' and the amazing story of the McRae family) the house is beautifully furnished and sumptuously appointed. It seems that everything has been thought...

Wendy is an amazing host. The home is beautiful and the southern charm will make you appreciate how things used to be. It was like stepping back in time. My wife and I will never stay in hotels again if we can avoid it and I hope all the B&B's we stay at are as perfect as this one. They...

We have stayed in many B & Bs throughout the US and Canada, and this one is now top on our list. Wendy took our reservation at the last minute and she welcomed us like long lost relatives. We picked the B & B based on the photo of the beautiful Victorian architecture. We enjoy watching the rain, sitting on...

As our road trip continued, we arrived at The Kate Shepard House mid-afternoon. Wendy and Bill greeted us like long-lost friends. As there had been a cancellation, we had the run of the house and were able to pick our rooms. We visited with our hosts for a fair period of time, during which Wendy made several suggestions for our...
